Dr. Samuel Levin is a best OBGYN you can find. I started looking for a doctor when I got pregnant, and first tried find doctor who accepts my insurance, work in Manhattan and is reliable - one you can trust. Not a surprise for many of you - had extreme difficulties to find one. After several appointments with I think 5 doctors, I decided to go to Dr. Levin. I knew he is not taking insurance, but I did not want to take a risk with others who I did not really like and I decided to go with him. I knew about Dr. Levin from my friends who went to him and were happy, but I did not realize such doctors exist before I went through my pregnancy with him.
First of all - he is VERY knowledgeable and very confident in his decisions. And when he is making decisions for something - he thinks about you, your health, your risks - about nothing else. He is conservative to certain degree, does not like taking risks for pregnancy - which is I think good thing. Sometimes quite demanding :) - that you follow his advice - but always for a reason - he wants your baby to be born healthy, and you to be safe. Excellent bedside manners ? I always felt comfortable.
Dr. Levin always spends enough time with you to give you all the information you might need. And if something happens, he is always there. I had a high risk pregnancy - at some point, I developed gestational diabetes, and then had issues with my leg which was numb, and many other minor things. If I called the office for advice -my call was always returned within 5 minutes (sometimes faster) ? he always calls back himself.
He always supported me - from 1st moment to the moment my beautiful daughter Victoria was born who is 6m old now. I was all for vaginal delivery and did not want to have c-section. He supported this 100%. Because of diabetes, I could have been induced - however he did some ""magic"" and my labor started right before scheduled due date. When I was admitted to the hospital, he was there within minutes. He checked me all the time and he practically did not leave the delivery room as some doctors do - he stayed with me most of the time and through entire pushing stage, checked me 2 days I was in a hospital after
Office is very well run - I waited maximum 10 minutes, and often was taken in before my appointment time.
I was EXTREAMLY happy that I went to doctor Levin, and if you have troubles finding a great doctor - he IS THE ONE.
Few words about Lenox Hill ? it has very good labor and delivery facility - all nurses were knowledgeable and caring, helped a lot to establish breastfeeding. Anesthesiologist was very good too. I suggest taking a private room if you can afford it and if it is available (not always the case) ? we only got one for second day ? hospital was full the day I delivered.
