I haven't written a CitySearch review before, but I'm out of town for a few months and I find myself MISSING MY GYM!! I'm not exactly a body builder, so this comes as quite a surprise! Kor has so much to be commended for---they've outfitted the place with an excellent array of equipment, considering the limited amount of space they have. They've got a great room for classes and another for Pilates work as well as a shower room with a spa-like atmosphere. They've decorated it well with interesting art on the walls and a relaxing garden-like space out front. But what really makes Kor, well, Kor is the staff. Others before me here on CitySearch have praised co-owners Dr. Lee and Christine Hazelton, and, obviously, they deserve a great deal of the kudos and the credit. But I must also praise the desk and site management staff--Damian, Hannah, and Megan---they are warm, kind, conscientious, and smart. And no less the trainers, all of whom are perennially friendly, cheerful, and helpful. I should also single out the trainer L.B. for praise, in that his Qi Gong classes go way above and beyond your typical gym offering. When the door closes and his classes begin, you really feel like you've entered a dojo---like you're in the presence of a master. I mustn't forget Einstein the dog---technically, he's Christine's, but it feels like he belongs to all of us. I can't explain it exactly, but he brings such a special something to the place; I look for him every time I go. As you can see, I can't say enough good things about Kor. I'll just end by saying that, in a place that can be as cold and heartless as Hollywood sometimes can, it really is nice to have a gym where everybody knows your name!
Pros: Size, friendliness, atmosphere, expertise, range of classes
Cons: parking
