Excellent Food 7/2/2010

Very Good food and service especially if you want an acoholic beverage with your food. For those of us who do not drink and do not want our children in a bar atmosphere there is a Take Out right across the street. The girls over there do not mind if you order take out and go to the bar for a drink while you wait. Sometimes there is a long wait on both sides, they are not McDonalds or Burger King it even says so on the menu. The prices did get a little ridiculus but its understandable with the economy these days. They do charge for extra sauce but sometimes they let it slide unless you want 3 or more then they really have to charge. Seafood is just like Gasoline the prices change frequently. Pros: good service, very understanding, try to please Cons: run out of food, very busy all the time especially weekends more

Great Seafood in Central Connecticut 8/28/2007

We happened upon Sam the Clam's restaurant on a recent trip from Massachusetts to our home in New Jersey. It was a great ""find""-- a bustling bar and restaurant, its parking lot full on a Sunday evening, the bar band playing away, and a wonderful back deck filled with tables, and, yes, another bar, Polynesian roof and all. Clientele seemed to be a happy and loud mix of families, bikers, and assorted others, all happily munching their way through a variety of (mostly) fried seafood platters, including the best fried shrimp I've ever had. Good cole slaw, and excellant lobster bisque as well. Moderate prices round out the experience. Pros: Superb fried seafood and soups, great atmosphere and bars Cons: Not much other than fried dishes. more

The #1 Sports Seafood Pub in CT 2/20/2006

The best hot (you can get cold) Lobster Roll I have ever eaten. Their seafood baskets, (my personal favorite is the Scallop Basket) are the best in New England. Eating outside on the patio in good weather is a treat, especially with a bar available on the patio. Also, it is well known by bikers as the best pub in the area, so be prepared for the motorcycles in the parking lot. Overall recommendation - Outstanding! Remember that it's a Sports Bar, with lots of TV's turned to all sorts of sports, so a lot of the fine dining rules don't apply. But I think it's one of the best Sports Bars in New England. Pros: Food, Reasonable Price, Sports Bar Flavor more
