When my husband and I went to Sam Levitz to buy a new couch we were pleased with the couch we got and with the price, but it was not a pleasant shopping experience. Simply put, they have WAY to many sales people on the floor and not enough customers. It smells like desperation there. You can't walk in the door without 10 people trying to "help" you. Even if you are already working with a salesman, the other salesmen still stalk you around the floor. It is irritating. The other annoyance is that if you buy something here, you usually have to go to the other warehouse to pick it up, which is at least a 30 minute drive. more

We love shopping at Sam Levitz. They offer 0% financing for X amount of time. This is a big help for any one who does not have all the money to buy furniture right away. This helps by eliminating the finance charges/interest that would otherwise accrue if they didn't have this promotion. I would recommend paying the furniture off ASAP though... otherwise, why even take advatage of the promotion. Sam Levitz has mediocre to better quality furnitures. They also have a "Clearance" section where scratch and dent items have been marked down. These items may have holes, rips, or scratches on the furniture. If it's not going to be noticeable in your furniture placement, this might be for you. The employees tend to be a little too helpful at times, but I guess it's better to have help than no help at all. more

Sam Levitz Furniture has many locations and the one I went to is conveniently located on the Northeast side on Pantano and Broadway. It has a wide variety for furniture available and is good for someone who doesn't have a lot of time to shop around because you can furnish your whole house with one visit. However, the drawback of the store is the salespeople and their lack of friendliness. They act like vultures, following you around the store, even if you tell them you don't want to be bothered. That made the shopping experience very poor. more
