Been shopping there for a while for personal and also for my Business. Great prcing and service. I drive all the way from Hernando to Clearwater. In short, the sales manager George is rude and doesn't give a crap about the customer. I had a similar experience as the Guitar Dog Dude. In my case, I was trading in a fender power strat. The guitar comes with a db boost wired into one of the tone pots. Similar to the Eric Clapton model, but the powerhouse strat boost is a less db verison. The sales manager George tried to say that I had done that post purchase and fender never had that option on the powerhouse strat so he wasn't gonna give me as much for a trade in. The guy is uninformed and does not know what he is talking about. Above that when I tried to show him that it did come from the factory with that feature he was extremely rude. I will never go back there to give them a dime. more

I was in the store ready to make a big purchase of over 1,000 dollars. While talking about the gear in question with a guitar sales representative. The manager of the store (an old guy with an attitude) rudely interrupted me mid sentence and said, "I need to talk to you now." The sale rep said, "Ok.. Let me finish helping this customer and I will be with you." The manager then said, "No, I come first you'll talk to me now!!! This will have to wait." I started to say, "Excuse me..." and was told by the manager to, "Sit tight this is more important." Needless to say I walked out and took my business else where. I will not be returning to Sam Ash again. And, will continue to inform all I meet of the lack of customer respect that the manager at this store has towards their customers. I recently visited the store as I'm only in Florida part of the year. Sam Ash has renovated the place, and it is an impressive music store. My only gripe is that the guitar staff is less than knowledgable, I also noticed a change in faces. I remember the last time I was there there was this man in the guitar dept. that seemed like he should be in a Boutique guitar shop and not a big boxed store. I can't remember his last name, a bald headed man, first name was either Frank or Mark, and he had an encyclopedic knowledge of guitar equipment. I was very impressed. Now it's just the run of the mill mediocrity one finds in any big box store, mostly low level used car salesmen more than anything else. If you know what you want it's a cool place to visit, if you need real technical assistance with guitars buyer beware. As a brass player they are the only place to hit. They have it all from starter to pro and everything in the middle. Knowledge is abundant and freely given and they even have a bagpiper, what else to you need? more

Shortly after giving a credit card (that is rarely used) number over the phone to make a purchase from this store, this card was then used by persons unknown to us to make large purchases, like a hotel in Belize! We contacted our bank and got the charges reversed and are ordering a new card. We can't be certain this business is responsible but it seems like the most likely candidate, based on the timing. The Sam Ash store in Clearwater could win for no other reason than it's cool building at the old Kapok Tree location, but they also have the most friendly and knowledgable staff of any store in the area. Highly recommended. Pros: Selection, Customer Service, Location Cons: None more
