I have watched this store grown and change over the years. Each new Manager decides to reorganize and redecorate the store. Staff is usually friendly and helpful. The merchandise may vary in price. Royal Oak has become one of the "New" Hip places to shop and eat. Royal Oak is the place FOR entertainment and to BE entertained by watching the visitors.
The Royal Oak Salvation Army donations and pricing reflects the changing community and its visitors. The building is part of the "OLD" Royal Oak but is on top of the "NEW" Royal Oak (2 doors SE of the corner of 4th Street and Main Street).
Clothing is organized by Women's , Men's and KId's then all long sleeve shirts together by color, etc. Often I can find brand new college or major team and designer items for minimal prices. Household items can range from collector's major name household items to modern new Target, etc castoffs.
Furniture can be barely used latest from local high rise dwellers who are moving cross country to antique classic furniture from major manufacturers such as Ethan Allan, Lane, etc plus some stuff that should have been put in the dumpster.
I enjoy this store because shopping at the Salvation Army is like a treasure hunt: you never know what treasures you will find from collector's books to antique classic furniture to brand new Ralph Lauren bedding in original packages to high end designer couches with matching love seats to your worst nightmare college dorm furniture. Prices also vary based on how highly valued by the current Staff items are. Have a look around and see what you can find! Within a week the store will look very different with 60% different merchandise. This is a very high turn over store.
