My wife and I ate lunch at the Salty 2/15/2012

My wife and I ate lunch at the Salty Dog Cafe' on the recommendation of one of her co-workers. We were quickly seated by a very friendly manager and promptly waited on by our waitress. I had the shrimp po-boy sandwich. My wife had the Fish n Chips. We also orderd the Hush Puppy appetizer. I thought the HP's were a little too sweet, but they were all uniformly round! How did they do that? We each enjoyed our lunch dishes. The po-boy was filled with shrimp and very tasty. We completed our lunch with a piece of their Key Lime Pie. \r \r This dessert is TO DIE FOR! This was the BEST Key Lime Pie I have ever had. We talked about returning to the restaurant a day or two later just for the pie, but we never did. more

Go for the cheeseburger!!! Great food, great view of the marina from the patio. 6/5/2008

It was a hot one out there today but the atmosphere was great and the food was great. They have a bar area outside on the patio that you can sit at our walk up to it has ""mister""s going to cool you off. We sat outside and had a great view of the marina and the food was great. \r \r I ordered the cheeseburger, came with fries and a pickle spear. Delicious. I wanted a ""greasy"" burger and yum, it was just what I was hoping for. My husband got a loaded hot dog with a side of potato salad and my don got the chicken strip basket with fries. All were happy, it was good. We statred out by splitting an order of the grouper bites. They were great. Hours later those bites caught up with my husband and son. Both had terrible, explosive..... well, you know.... All in all a great time. We will be back. Pros: Great greasy cheeseburger Cons: Watchout for those after effects on the Grouper Bites more

Discrimination in SALTY DOG 4/28/2008

I have never been to Salty Dog cafe. In fact, I do not think I will ever go there after what I have experienced since I have never seen such discriminatory administration before. I am a student who is about to finish his second university in Turkey. To improve my English and to get to know American culture I decided to participate a work&travel programme and picked up Salty Dog cafe to work. However, a month before my departure for the USA the cafe declared that it does not accept Turkish students. The reason for such a refusal was that Turks are dirty and they have a tendecy to break things. Even if in their website they claim themselves to be friendly and hospitable, they are clearlt discriminatory. I wonder whether they will accept me as a ?stinking?costumor with the money I receive from my father working as a high ranking official in the bureaucracy. It seems that they are trying to implement the same failed mentality about ?negros? on Turks and other nations.Such a mentality does not suit Americans or humans. We have a saying, ?As you sow, so shall you reap?. What you do to somebody, you receive in kind. If you support this kind of discriminatory treatment please enjoy Salty Dog cafe. more
