Salt Water Cowboy's

I recently vacationed in St. Augustine and this restaurant was recommeneded by the manager at the hotel's front desk. I'd definitely trust her judgment in the future! The previous review got the decor right on. We ate inside, so we didn't have any problems with the cats. I really only saw one when we walked in, and he was hidden in the marsh, so maybe they've cleaned up a bit since the last reviewer visited. The food was really good. We had a variety from the cheese bread to gator tail to bbq ribs and chicken and fried shrimp. No complaints here!! No room for dessert, too full. But next visit! Wait staff was average. Our waiter was a little forgetful, but otherwise he was ok. more

We spent a few days in St. Augustine, FL in May. I really enjoyed the meal I had at Salt Water Cowboy’s on St. Augustine Beach. The décor is like an old time fishing camp. The floors are wooden, the furniture twig and it sits on a salt marsh. My husband had a combo plate with frog legs, catfish and alligator tail. I ordered steamed shrimp. Both dinners were prepared perfectly. Dinners came with cheese bread, salad or slaw, and 2 starch sides. We actually ate out on the deck and watched the sunset over the marsh. It was beautiful, but the place is swarming with wild cats. I am not a “cat” person, and it freaked me out a little. If I go back to St. Augustine this is where I would go for dinner.
