Clovis' Best Mexican Restaurant 4/22/2010

By far, this is the best mexican food! Homemade, fresh, and flavorful. The owner, Leticia, is a complete delight. She makes you feel very welcomed in her business. The wait staff was curtious and very prompt. The whole dining experience was sensational. Keep up the good work, Salsa's! Pros: Wonderful food, great wait staff, Leticia is charming more

Amazing home made gordita tortillas! 10/28/2009

I love this place. Having grown up in Fresno and eating almost everywhere I can say that this is the best mexican food in town. No doubt, hands down, the best. The recipes used are from generations past. Try the Chile Verde and the Rellenos... so good. Pros: Small, quaint, family owned Cons: not in my own house more

AMAZING food 3/10/2009

I've been coming to this restaurant since It was opened about 14 years ago and I have to say that it is the best Mexican restaurant out there. The employees are really friendly and makes you feel like family. Give it a shot I've recommended it to all my friends and they have all enjoyed it more

Best mexican food! 4/18/2008

By far my favorite mexican restaurant! Every experience has been a pleasant one, the owners and staff are personable, and the food amazing! My family has gone there for years, and we have never had a bad experience. Pros: Close parking, friendly service, and great atmosphere. more

Try it for yourself!! 3/29/2008

Anyone who would like to visit the restaurant should pay heed to comments from those with a professional and/or unbiased standpoint. Unfortunately, the negative comments here are a result of a smear campaign by a particular group of diners. The first negative review was written on the exact day when the dispute occurred and describes events inaccurately. The patron and their guests were asked to leave the premises after their alloted and agreed-upon time for their event had passed (another event was scheduled to occur after theirs). They were overly inebriated, became confrontational, physically threatening and had to be removed by members of the Fresno Police Department who provide security for the restaurant. (Apparently, the diners didn't even know what restaurant they were at, as they posted reviews under both locations. They were at Palm and Herndon, for what it's worth!)\r \r Come and try Salsa's in Old Town Clovis for yourself! I'm a long-time patron, and have never had a meal there that I didn't love (okay, there was the ceviche...but I don't usually like ceviche and thought I'd try it anyway!) My family always feels at home when we're there...it's an overall GREAT dining experience! If you haven't been in awhile, come and check out the gorgeous new murals on the wall...they are beautiful :) Pros: homemade flour and corn tortillas; open on Sundays, when most of Old Town Clovis is closed more

POOR FOOD, GOOD SERVICE 11/26/2007

A poor exscuse for mexican food. I went for mexican food, drank an average margerita and was served a burrito not worth eating. IT HAD 3 pieces of meat in the burrito. \r Horrible, not worth 7.99. I complained twice.\r Dont waste your time.\r I think the place on the main Clovis St might be better.\r I ended up buying snacks at the local Cafe. It was good, beer for 2.50. Pros: lots of seating Cons: really poor food more

A Poor and Embarrassing Excuse for a Fresno Restaurant... 5/15/2007

This place is one of those unprofessional, no-class, poorly managed and operated venues that perpetuates and maintains the low bar quality level that plagues Fresno. The owner fronts as a professional but cheats his customers with terrible food and a watered down drink service. At a family event, hundreds of guests were shocked and disappointed by the way the owner and his staff handled their customers. After hiding behind swarms of grunting meathead security guards who got their immature aggression out patrons, the owner broke the law by charging his customer's credit cards for amounts that were never authorized. Charges should and will be pressed. Fresnans beware...and take your money and time elsewhere. These guys don't deserve your patronage and should not stay in business. Pros: it gets hoppin' after 10pm...IF you want to hang out with a bunch of rent-a-cops. Cons: pretty much EVERYTHING. how sad. more

BOYCOTT 5/14/2007

BOYCOTT THIS CORRUPT NIGHTCLUB POSING AS A RESTAURANT! \r \r I recently was involved in a wedding rehearsal dinner at Salsa's for two of the most respected families in this community. It had been exclusively reserved for over a hundred people for the entire night. Well, the service was nonexistent, the food was disgusting and not what was promised or charged for (and ran out), the bathrooms were unsanitary, and without warning the manager and his security thugs kicked out all of the gentle, well-bahaved professional people who had travelled from all over the world to this special event, so that they could turn the place into a skanky nightclub, with strippers posing outside -- a complete shock to the families, and which was never previously disclosed. It ended dramatically when the best man was violently dragged out by the neck by the pathetic security guards because he stood up against the injustice of the establishment. The police called and I think charges might be pressed. I am a kind person, but the manager, Jesse, is a pathetic, lying slimeball, and a fool, because we would have stuck around spending a lot more money. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS -- AND SPREAD THE WORD. more

My choice for best Mexican in Fresno 4/24/2005

Tortillas made fresh with every order in a half dozen flavors like fresh chile, sun dried tomato, etc make Salsas a standout in a city loved for its Mexican food. This restaurant makes the best chile rellenos around. Try the relleno des res that balances sweet and spicy with a chicken and raisin filling. It's out-of-this-world good! The slow-cooked pork chile colorado is another favorite of mine. Knives are not required -- bite into the pork and it melts in your mouth, requiring little use of your chompers. The restaurant is located in charming Old Clovis and features a peaceful outdoor seating area by the back parking lot. The service is what you'd expect at grandma's house. They treat everyone like family but don't dote on anyone either. Pros: My favorite Mexican, , unique rellenos, Food is so fresh! Cons: A bit out of the way more

Quaint and Delicioso!!! 4/19/2005

The service was very friendly and the menu was reasonably priced. The food was fabulous and I loved being able to choose between the fresh corn or flower homemade tortillas! What a treat! They have a seafood chile relleno and a halibut dish that is muy delicioso! Pros: Friendly Service, Lovely Decorations, Adequately Priced more
