This resturant is not there! I went to the location and found another resturant and I was happy with what they had and wrote a review. They need to take this sight down becasue it's confusing enough to find the location. more

True Italian style Pizza here 8/8/2008

I am unsure who the bad reviews are coming from but I am pretty sure they are not Italian's. I was recommended to this place from a friend who moved there from the Bronx. I am also 1st generation Italian from the Bronx. This pizza is as close as you are going to get to Bronx pizza and that is a high compliment for pizza places in the Triangle. I am unsure what people expect when they say they are dissappointed, but if you eat Domino's or other chain pizza places, you can not compare this authentic style Italian pizza to that cheap quality, junk ingredient stuff. more

Fair 2/8/2008

$20 minimum for a bottle of wine at a neighborhood place is too much. The 501 diner, across the shopping center, has decent wine in the $14 range. The house wine is more reasonable -- but they sometimes run out.\r \r We like the lasagna, and think this is the best Italian place in the immediate vicinity, but it's the only Italian place in the immediate vicinity. Pulcinella in Durham is too far for us. more

Overpriced ordinary pizza 9/21/2007

The pizza here is very average and way over priced. Stay away from the sicilian pizza: Tomato sauce with 3 slices of pepperoni on over-toasted bread that is hard as brick. I cannot imagine we paied $2-3 a slice. Surely there is better pizza around..... Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Overpriced, terrible sicilian pizza more

Avoid Sal's 8/17/2007

I have been to Sal's and seen the owners belittle their wait staff in front of customers. I have also been there on delivery days and seen the Progresso cans of Minestrone they've bought from the grocery store (which they serve up as their own at $5/bowl!) Their cleanliness level the last time I was there was in the 80's.\r Personally, I'd rather eat at a clean establishment that doesn't deceive their customers and treats their staff well.\r \r \r \r \r Cons: They buy their soup from the grocoery store! more

Authentic Italian Food Straight From Italy!!! 8/9/2006

Sal's is one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved down here from NH... I had a friend whose grandmother straight from the old country would cook for us all the time... Sal's reminds me of these delicous meals that I had as a child, at my friends house, which brings back happy memories for me... \r \r Everything is made from scratch, from the spaghetti sauce to the pizzas, and it shows in the end result... Tasty, delicous, and made with love...\r \r If you have never tried this place, tucked in the corner of the mall, try it sometime... It will bring you to a place in Italy, where you have never been, and wish you were! Pros: Yummy Food, Great Service, Parking Lot Cons: Small restaurant, so get there early or make reservations more

Better than NY 4/17/2006

As a New Yorker who lived in Chapel Hill 25 years ago, Iwas surprisingly pleased to find Sal's. Now, as a Connecticut resident who retruns to Chapel Hill every 6 months, I'm shocked to find that as the Pizza quality in NY has declined over the years, the best NY Pizza you can find is in Chapel Hill NC!! We never miss Sal's during our visits and often squeeze in two trips. It truly is the best NY Pizza around. more

By far the best Italian in town! 1/15/2003

A long-time resident of Chapel Hill, Sal's has become my favorite and most reliable restaurant. Their spaghetti and meatballs is just one of their many excellent dishes and their pizza is as fresh and perfectly-prepared as you could ask for. A Little Bit of Italy 12/28/2002

I am a regular of Sal's Pizza & Italian Ristorante and I have been changed forever! I won't even consider going to all those other so-called pizza chains. The food is always excellent. I haven't tasted anything there that I haven't liked or wouldn't order it again. In fact, I find it hard to decide on a meal when I go there because everything there is so yummy. The service is great too. The first time I went there, they treated me like I have been going there for years. I tasted the lobster ravioli in vodka sauce and I didn't think it would be something I would like and I was amazed at how delicious it was. I reccomend this wonderful little restuarant. It is worth every little bite and the prices are very reasonable. Pros: Inexpensive, has a buffet, excellent service more

I have been going to Sal's ever since I was a kid. The people are great. They make you feel right at home. The pizza is for sure NY style. The dinners are just like mama used to make. There is a reason they have been there over 20 years. They know what Italian food really is. Best of Luck more

Great price performance 8/31/2002

When we come to Sal's, we always know we will eat well for less. Although not as elegant as other Italian restaurants in the area, the food is good and the price is better. The chicken parm. is a favorite of mine, and you can't go wrong with one of their classic pizzas. more

Family Comfort Food 7/15/2002

Sals has become a standard for our family. OK, the service is slow, but the food is consistantly high quality and well-proportioned. My son (6) loves the spaghetti and inhales the adult portion when he often is finiky. The pizza is much better than the delivery factories, but the Sicilian can disappoint. Sals is more of a comfort restaurant. If you want better, you'll pay twice as much. more
