When reading the reviews for Sara, I felt like I had to leave a review. I don't even feel that I went to the same salon as most of the others who have left reviews! I went to Sara for the first time in August. I had a highlight, cut and style. Once my stylist came over, she sat down with me and discussed my various options and even offered her opinion. She was very friendly and professional. When taking the foils out and washing my hair, the shampoo girl gave me a head and neck massage. The best part is, I have never been so satisfied with a cut and highlight. I was so satisfied, that I went back the following week to have Sara do a blowout. Again, very professional and very AMAZING. I felt truly pampered, respected and important with Sara. I have never received such professional and amazing service. And yes, the prices were reasonable. I can tell you that it was definitely the BEST salon experience of my life and well worth the cost. more

I went to New Beginnings Salon after seeing the amazing reviews on yahoo. The salon is modern and intimate with a lively and fun atmosphere. It's not too trendy and loud or pretentious and stuffy... it was just right. It's also fairly priced especially for the high level of service and professionalism. Sara did a wonderful job, she was receptive to my needs giving me a great cut and blowout. Odete put on my color and she was very through. No spots missed and at the same time I didnt have a ring around my face of color stain. Sara and Odete kept me laughing the whole time... I'll definitely be going back! more

EDITED REVIEW: I first went to New Beginnings (and Sara) last summer and was extremely pleased. I really thought that I had found ""the salon"" that I would frequent hopefully for years to come. Ah, this was not to be. After waiting several months for another haircut, I went back and the had a totally opposite experience to my first visit. It's too bad too- my hair had finally grown full and long and just needed a trim. After running errands that day, I went home to find my hair totally uneven and considerably shorter than I wanted. I was crushed because I had such high hopes for the place. I was so disappointed I went back to have it fixed. Unfortunately I left with my hair not in better shape. I actually had to go for a THIRD haircut (at a different place, also a disappointment) in the hopes of finally evening out my cut. To no avail- I went home and trimmed my hair myself to get it even. Now my hair is so short I won't need another haircut for another 6 months. It's hard to believe one can go from having such a positive experience to such a negative one but the service was very inconsistent and I won't be going back. i have been going to this salon for about three years now, and i love it! sara is one of the best stylists i've ever been to, and not only is she honest, but she's also very intelligent and easy to talk to. the ambiance reminds me of my house, and i absolutely love it. sara has really great products in the salon and is always using different ones on her clients. she can recommend great hair products for you. my hair has never looked and felt this amazing, despite the fact that i've gotten it highlighted and dyed a couple of times. plus, the salon is very close to my house. i can honestly say that i never want to go to any other salon, ever. The Best! Sara is wonderful! My hair never looked so good... I even got to try the Day Spa as well, Irma made my skin look so radiant with her coconut and lemon facial, its a seasonal facial. I didn't break out at all! its been a week now and my skin looks great. My package also included a private spa pedicure. It was quite interesting, they had a special room just for my pedicure, it was decorated with fresh flowers and candles everywhere, it really felt amazing. Go to Salon Lush! I used to live in Manhattan and recently moved to Long Island for work. It was hard going back to the city just to get my hair done. When I found Salon Lush, all my hair frustrations were put to an end. I called and made an appointment to get my color done and a haircut. I had a wellcoming greeting, and didnt have to wait long at all! It was clean and neat, something I hThe haircolor that she used on me had just about no smell or sting to it. When I got my hairaven't seen yet in all of LI except for those big expensive places. Right before i got my haircut, I meet the salons esthetician. She was so pleasant and kind. She offered me a european facial and I got a 30 min massage right after. Then, it was time to cut my hair. I really liked the style i had, all i really wanted was a slight trim and a little shape. I am very picky about my lenght. I explained to the girl what i wanted, and it looked better than any other haircut i ever had! All I can say is AMAZING. Great haircut (a cute guy even asked me out the day after I got it! haha!) I also got color, which looks just as wonderful. My friends are jealous and the guys want me, if your salon isn't doing that for you, try Salon Lush! Sara is so friendly and understanding, it was the easiest process I ever went through compared to so many local and farther away salons. I haven't tried the wax there, but will definitely come back to try that and so much more again. It's a very classy looking place, definitely bring your friends and make a day of it. I have never had such amazing color in my life. The color is deep brownish red, looks like courtney cox's on dirt. I love it. I can say Cortney Cox copied me!\r \r I was a bit worried about the cut at first, because it seemed to me like it was a bit lopsided. I was really worried about it so I came back to the hairdresser that day and she really listened to me and fixed it for free, I was so impressed that she didn't argue with me just heard me out, understood and appologized! I did not get the hair cut I wanted. It seemed the stylist cut my hair in a generic manner, not what I specified. I told her subtle layers, take 2 inches off the back and got too many layers, different on one side from the other, and hardly nothing off the back. I would not recommend it. Also, there was no receptionist and my stylist would stop cutting/styling my hair to answer all phone calls. Very annoying. Pros: Cheap Cons: Interruptions, not a good hair cut more

Is the best service you can ever get !!! My friends told me about this place and they absolutely recommend it. The place has a bare decor but excellent.\r \r Sara, is the best stylist there is. She is very detailed and concerned about the work. She has the skills and knowledge needed to be in this business.\r \r It' really not a very big place, but it's definately affordable. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a cheery receptionist offering me coffee/tea. I waited a few minutes & was then directed to have my hair washed...what a treat. Most salons rush & forget to rinse the shampoo/conditioner residue from behind the ears...not Salon Lush! The ""wash girl"" was very attentive...she carefully shampooed/conditioned my hair scrubing my scalp gently through my hair & towel dried it. I was then seated at a chair, given a refill on my coffee & had my hair blown dry until damp. What service! Then I met Sara, a quiet unassuming girl. She listened to my needs & gave me the exact haircut I requested. She was very thorough & gave me her utmost attention. I used citysearch to locate this new salon in my area. I was very happy with the unpretentious atmosphere and professional service this salon offers. This was the first time I have had highlights and my stylist was very helpful in recommending a shade that would compliment my hair color. It was probably the best experience I have had at a salon. Its a new place opened up not far from my home, i desided to try it. I had tried other salons in my area whcih were horrible, but this girl was really good. Shes young and trendy and very classy. Shes lives in the city so you feel like your getting a city haircut.... The best part of it is that her products were great and affordable! Sara is the best! My color and highlights were just right for my skin tone. I thought the decor was very sleek and modern, like being a New York City salon. I'm the type of person who dreads getting a haricut, but I came out of this place feeling amazing. The stylist understood everything I wanted. She used a European hair dye that kept my hair soft, prepared a shampoo with specilized toner specially for me. The cut is exactly what I wanted, she didn't fight me or tell me it couldn't be done with my face shape, or my hair texture. She just did it. Never had a better experience in hair salon.
