As a stay-at-home Mom (with one on the way) and entrepreneur, I love my babies and my business to but I truly look forward to the occasional ""me"" time! I have been going to Melissa for several years now after truly finding her ""by accident"" and I have never been more confident in any stylist I have ever had. She has NEVER disappointed. She is personable, competant, knowledgeable, and experienced, and truly listens to what I want and communicates my options with ease. It's easy to refer people to Melissa as I'm constantly receiving compliments on my hair style/color from friends, business associates, and mostly perfect strangers! I walk out of the salon feeling relaxed, refreshed and truly rejuvenated ready to conquer the world...I feel like a million bucks! She even cuts my 2 year daughter's long and curly hair (which I thought for sure would be a disaster considering my daughter doesn't sit still very long!) But Melissa is so wonderful with kids and my daughter absolutely LOVES ""Sissa""! I actually have a hard time getting her to leave! :)\r \r Thanks to Melissa for providing a much-needed spa experience for a busy Mom on the go...I may stay briefly but it truly feels like a long (and much needed) weekend retreat! :) more

i knew cassie in high school, and she was so involved in every hair class she took and enjoyed doing all different hair styles for her class, I never had a regular hair dresser, or a style to my hair, so I went to cassie and told her i wanted style yet I wanted my hair to be simple enough to wear back in a pony tail, she knew exactly what would work for me so i trusted her, and she did an amazing job! I absolutely love my hair cut, she has a real passion, I told my mother about her, and now my mom also goes to her, my mom has extremely thick hair, and cassie thins it out perfectly, Ive never seen my mothers hair look so nice, cassie is just great! more

Every time I have come to this salon im greeted with smiles and hellos. I always feel comfortable and relaxed with all the staff.\r Cassie Pinkham who is one of the main stylists always knows what i want. Since I have extentions shes even better because she also has them. With her skills at cutting, styling, coloring and putting in extentions I always leave feeling like a star. \r Her experence with different hair types is a plus because i have biracial hair she know produts and tells you all the information on how to use them.\r I can also say if the salon is ever to busy they still fit me in with Melissa who is amazing with her color and styles\r All in all i love this trendy salon and recommened it to all my friends!!! more

Cassie always gives me a great cut and color and now my oldest daughter goes to her too. I use to go into Boston which I loved, but the cost to park and the time I needed to block off was costing me too much. A customer had recommend Salon Fringe and I am so grateful because it is a trendy Boston Salon in Reading and it doesn't cost to park! Cassie will even see you for a hair washing and style. Trust me, with the fabulous head massage she provides, seeing her will be a mini vacation! You can even take the train out of Boston to this place and do some shopping at the quaint shops in town. more

I am Irish and Jamacian and with my combination hair type I've found a lot of stylists not knowing how to handle my hair. Cassie taught me how to be more comfortable with wearing my hair both curly and straight. She took the time to explain to me how to appreciate the best of both worlds with my hair. On a specific day I walked in and Cassie asked what I wanted to do. I wasn't happy with myself and I said do anything, just make me look and feel different. Cassie did beautiful red violet highlights and a Brazialian blowout. She turned me around to face the mirror and I was in shock! It was me but more beautiful than I had felt in years! Now, not only do I appreciate my hair type, but I look and feel beautiful. I've been jumping around salons for a while and I came in for an updo at the recommendation of a friend and I keep going back. I get cuts, updos, color, everything always comes out great. No matter what I ask for, Cassie knows how to put her own spin on it and make it come out amazing. I have never had a bad experience and I'll keep going back! more

My first visit was just for color. The young lady who colored my hair was nice enough but after waiting a half hour the receptionist asked who I was again ( I was the only one in the waiting area). What should had been a 45 min. coloring job was 1.5 hrs. So I stupidly go ahead and book an appointment 6 weeks later with Gary, the owner, for color and cut. The day before my appointment the salon calls and cancels it because Gary is going to his son's orientation. Couldn't see that coming ahead of time? No effort was made to accomodate my schedule on such short notice. Gary wasn't going to be put out on the next date I could schedule because he is already booked. \r \r Any business that has such little regard for my time doesn't deserve my business. more

I was in need of a change and decided on Salon Fringe mainly out of convenience. The salon itself quite nice. Melissa is great. She first discussed with me what I wanted then made suggestions and, most importantly, gave me a great cut. I plan on going back. Pros: great stylist; nice salon more

Whenever I go to Salon Fringe to have my hair done, the feeling I get is…”There’s no other place that I should be at this moment!” The décor is modern, yet classical, beautiful, relaxing and fun. When I go, the owner Gary performs magic on my hair. He listens to what I want, but then puts his own spin on it and it comes out great…even if I change my mind in the process. My hair is really thick, long and curly. It takes a special cut to make the curls lay just right otherwise it looks like a mess. Believe me when I say that I have had some bad haircuts in the past, but when I leave Gary and Salon Fringe it never looks better. I must drive Gary crazy with how often I want to change colors, but Gary always knows what will work for me and what won’t. I have received more compliments on my hair color since I started seeing Gary. “Your hair looks awesome…You should always be this color”…Even my boys ages 7 and 9 like going to the salon. Having one of the girls wash and massage their hair is like heaven to them. \r \r I really can’t say enough about Salon Fringe in Reading and Gary. I just moved to the Reading area from the city, along with my family which includes a new baby. I hadn't taken any 'me' time for months, and my hair was a total mess. A friend recommended Melissa at Salon Fringe so I made an appt and asked her to just make me look hip again. Melissa ROCKED! I seriously did not know my hair could look this great. The color is PERFECT, and the cut is awesome. I walked out feeling like a million bucks. Melissa is truly an artist and a pro at what she does. She completely surpassed my expectations and made me feel so good about myself. The salon was great as well! Clean, modern, fun, hip, and I they even brought me a cappuccino when I sat down in the chair. I have been looking for the right Salon and the right person to cut my hair for a year now.\r I read about Salon Fringe on City Search and called to make an appointment. I talked with\r Jess on the phone and asked if she would cut my hair. I am so excited about my hair cut and\r color. I can finally manage my hair thru the month and the color is great! I have a lot of hair \r and it is thick; if it is not cut right it tends to be heavy and looks flat. Jess has done an excellent\r job of listening to what I wanted and implementing the cut and color to my description. I highly\r recommend Jess and I highly recomment this Salon.\r Pros: Listens to how you want your hair cut and then cuts it the way you want it. more

I recently moved to the Reading area from New York City, after reading fabulous reviews about Salon Fringe I decided to try it out. I made an appointment with Jill for a cut and highlight. Right away I felt confident she new exactly how I liked my hair done and I was right, it came out awesome!!! I recommend Jill to anyone who wants great color and friendly service.....I will be back to see her for sure! more

I recently moved away from MA and truly miss going to the best salon out there. My husband and I both went to Jess...she truly is the perfectionist and always get it right. Cutting hair is definitely an art and it takes someone with real talent, that is where Jess comes in. I cannot say enough about her and this place. \r \r The prices are just right, I personally think it's a steal for the quality and service you get but who's complaining. I highly recommend the salon and specifically, Melissa. I recently moved to the area and had neglected my hair for some time. After a horrible experience in a salon in Newton (Sylvestre Franc) I came to Melissa for a cut. She gave me a wonderful cut and is super nice! In the past 7 years I have not used the same hairdresser twice until now! Thank you Melissa for giving me a cut and COLOR that I love. I work with a woman who never has a 'bad hair day' and finally asked her ""who does your hair"". She told me Melissa Macdonald at Fringe Salon. So I gave her a shot. Melissa has now cut, styled and colored my hair twice and I will be back for a third and more. She does great work!! She is patient in working with you to come up with a style that best suits you. I went to this salon after realizing that they were a Newbury St salon that is now tucked away in Reading Center. What a find! I also knew that Jess was exceptional with shorter hair styles. She has given me the haircut I never thought I could wear before with layers that I didn't think I could keep this long...and I can go 8 weeks before my next cut (which is unheard of for me) because it's so well shaped. Very fun salon with a warm, friendly staff. It's always a treat to go in there. Don't miss out on Jess...she's one in a milion and I've had my fair share of hairstylist hopping. Trust me on this one. This is my first message so excuse me if I'm not that great of a message posterer. Salon Fringe is the best salon i have ever been to. It is a clean, kind, and family friendly place to get your hair and nails done. Gary Hickey is a lovable person who is known as Gary ""Magic Hands"" Hickey. He is a very sociable hair stylist who is great with kids and is the best at hair coloring. Jess Pulgia is one of the funniest, kindest people I have ever met and does a fantastic job on hair especially if you are get layers. Holly has the most gentle touch when it comes to nails from your fingers to your toes. Plus the polish stays on for weeks! Overall, Salon Fringe is top notch... whatever that means. i went in for a cut, not expecting much, but Candice talked with me and we discussed what was wrong with my hair and why i was unhappy!!! Well...she was on the money with everything she told me and she did an absolutely wonderful long layered cut on me!!!! She also gave me a great shampoo, massaging my temples and everything!!\r So, if your looking for a great cut, along with a great personality.......
