It's Got All the Right Elements 9/20/2010

After years of living in Boston and patronizing Newbury Street salons, I moved to Newton, and fortunately discovered Salon De Cinzia. At Salon De Cinzia I found all the skill and professionalism one expects from a Boston salon (and then some), along with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere among a staff who have a nice rapore with one another and who seem to be happy to be there. Nancy has been cutting my hair for years (a short cut), and she is simply excellent, a real artist. As a sign of commitment to her shop and her customers, she takes staff to Paris annually for training and conducts in-house learning sessions as well. Soka does my color. She is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. The shop is attractive, clean and roomy. I unequivocally recommend Salon De Cinzia. more

Worst Cut Ever 9/18/2010

I also wanted to love this salon after reading all of the very positive reviews and can't believe we are talking about the same place. I have very thick hair and asked for a layered bob essentially. I knew the stylist was spending way too much time with the razor as chunks of my hair fell to the floor. My hair is so chopped and uneven that I am going to have to have it ""fixed"" by another stylist. And it was $65 (not including tip)! In addition to a really bad cut, the atmosphere is not anything like you would anticipate for that kind of price. I am very disappointed. more

Wanted to love it 9/9/2010

I really wanted to love this Salon, but have returned home not at all loving my hair this visit and last. I saw the same stylist twice, she was super nice, however, both this visit and last, the hair cut I ended up with was far from what I wanted and communicated. I gave her a second chance, and left the first experience up to her getting to know me and my very very thick hair. I asked for long gradual layers to balance my very thick hair and a sideswept bang - I ended up with the same exact blunt hair cut as last visit which included a heavy blunt layer that lands in front of my face - very unflattering and difficult to manage and lacking any sort of style. Its a similar haircut to my mother - which I feel very uncomfortable with in my 20s. She entirely missed the boat on my own needs, requests, to give me a cut that was neither manageable or flattering. I attribute this all to overscheduling/overbookinng and a very busy salon which does not allow enough time for my stylist to study my hair before washing or to really finish my hair cut. I can't wait to schedule an appointment with another stylist (at another salon) to have someone 'finish' this cut, add some style and make me look 28 again. The good stuff - goldwell products are amazing. I absolutely love the two glazes I had done at the salon. And of course the salon is clean, the people are pleasant and helpful and the location and parking are very convenient. more

Highly Recommend! 8/20/2010

I saw all of the great reviews for this salon so I felt confident giving it a try. My hair is in rough shape and was poorly cut the last time (at a different salon, of course). I was going to take a risk in cutting it short and definitely need someone who was talented! Krista fit the bill for sure. She worked wonders on my hair - and I absolutely LOVE what she did. I've received a whole bunch of compliments on the cut. She was very friendly, asked lots of questions to understand what I was looking for, and spent a good amount of time making sure it looked just right. Definitely ask for her! Also, the salon was clean and quaint - and I did not have to wait at all. I couldn't recommend Krista or this salon more highly! more

Great Skin Care 8/17/2010

I have been going to Salon DeCinzia to get my hair done for years and I was so excited to finally find Denise! I use to see her for facials and waxings in Newton Center for about 6 years and then she left the salon. I have tried other estheticians but nobody has compared. Denise gives the most relaxing, pampering facials without being pushy on sales. She also still uses my favorite products G.M. Collins. You have to have a facial or waxing with Denise. It is an experience!!!!!!! more

Katt does a FABULOUS job on hair! 7/2/2010

Katt is a great stylist and I highly recommend her! I have always found difficulty finding someone who is good at doing curly hair (and mine is VERY curly!) and she did mine beautifully. She also put in gorgeous blonde and reddish highlights that practically glistened in the sun. I have never received so many compliments on my hair than after she had done it... she`ll do the same for you! Pros: Very good at curly hair, bridal hair, men`s hair...all of it more

Do you want the kind of hair people will stop you in the street or at the grocery store, on the subway & at the club to tell you how great it looks!?!? Then Katt is the stylist you want to go to. Honestly, after I get my hair done by Katt I get so many compliments and people asking where I get it done. She's almost the kind of secret you want to keep all to yourself! I have lived in Newton for over 25 years and have finally found the BEST stylist to cut my hair. Laura Adelman spent time asking how I liked my hair cut and spent the time to do it exactly how I like. I recently went back to her and she once again cut it perfectly! It's obvious she takes great pride in her work. When I was relaxing and closing my eyes I could not help but feel that she has the techical skills but also is an artist with a great eye for the smallest of details. Salon De Cinzia is one of my favorite Salons. The warmth and style of the shop is only out shone by the character and style of its owners and stylists. I have had my hair done by Nancy for many years and always leave feeling fabulous. Great cut, color and style. No one ""restores my natural highlights"" better. I highly recommend Salon De Cinzia. I found this salon on line from other reviews. I have been going to see Nancy for over a year and she always helps me with good color & haircut direction that is fitting to my hair. A friendly place, often quite busy and the space is nicely designed. Pros: Easy to get to, great styling! Cons: pricey but what isn't more

don't let the strip mall location fool you! 11/18/2009

Lisa has been cutting and coloring my hair for the last six months. Finally, after 15 years in Boston, I have found a salon that I really and truly like! While it has all the friendliness of a neighborhood salon, the stylists are professional and knowledgeable. I love it! UPDATE: I have continued to see Lisa for all my cut and color needs since my original review (2009), and I am as tickled as ever with her professionalism, skill, and just plain old wonderfulness. Of note, I started sending my husband to Lisa a year or so ago, and the transformation has been incredible! Lisa convinced my husband to abandon his signature Julius Caesar haircut (miracles do happen), and he now looks years younger and much more attractive. Kudos to you, Lisa!!! Katie BEST Hairstylist! 11/10/2009

I have been going to Salon De Cinzia for the past three years, I now live 35 miles away and still drive the distance to see Katie. Everyone in my family goes to Katie for color, highlights, cuts, and blow drys. I have never heard of anyone seeing Katie once and never going back, people go to her once and then become a very loyal customer! Why go into Boston and pay outrageous money when Katie's quality, training and attention to detail supersede any stylist! Pros: You will never leave the salon unhappy! more

THE PLACE to go!!! 3/20/2009

I have been going to de cinzia for a few months now and it is GREAT!!! the salon is modern and has plenty of room to accomodate a busy day. being a guy I grew up going to the local barber, leaving looking like a freshly cut lawn. Since going to the salon, Kate has been a godsend. She cuts my hair on point every time, GQ worthy!! Her prices are more than reasonable for the quality and prescision you get. Kate is the person to go to if you wanna walk around with confidence! Don't walk around looking like cousin IT. Go and see Kate at Salon De Cinzia!!!!! Pros: Stylist Quality Cons: parking more

Love the baliage!!! 3/1/2009

I live in Boston and make the drive out to Newton to get my hair cut/colored. Salon de Cinzia is hands down the best hair cut I have ever had. (And friends I have recommend the salon to agree the cuts are amazing.) My very fine hair shows every snip of the scissors and now I am completely spoiled by the precision of Nancy?s cutting. Greatest service ever. A high end salon that won't turn away walk-ins!!! 12/15/2008

I drive by the salon all the time and always looks really busy. I know I needed a haircut so I said what the hell I'll give it a try. I walked in and was kindly greeted and in a chair in minutes. My stylists name was Lisa, she was very nice and proffesional. She really took the time to listen to me on how I wanted my cut. She was very knowlegeable and gave me great advice. She gave me her card, and I'm going to keep it. The price was very reasonable and I didn't feel rushed out of the chair. Oh and p.s the haircut was really great too!! Pros: two thumbs up. very professional. Cons: parking, maybe because I went during a busy time. more
