Dr Jason and the Sala Family Dentistry 11/12/2011

My wife and I are more than pleased from the sevices we have received from Dr. Jason/Dr. Todd and their staff. The front office personnel are professional and efficient. The cleaning process for our teeth has been the best services we ever had. We are in our 60's so we should know. I'm currently having an implant by Dr. Jason and he's been excellent. Prior to this implant, he provided me the opportunity for a second opinion from another office. Dr. Jason was very professional and encouraged me to have this second opinion. I appreciated this. Equally important for my wife and I, is how much the Sala Practice gives back to our community for those less fortunate. One of several examples is their ""Dentistry from the Heart."" This program provides a free service for either a cleaning, filling, or an extraction. What a wonderful service for our community. In our opinion, any business that provides excellent service and is willing to help those in need, will always have our support...... more

Best Dentist Ever!! 3/16/2011

I just left Sala Family Dentistry after getting a few cavities worked on. I am super nervous about getting shots and don't look forward to getting numb. Doctor Jason let me listen to my iPod and gave me nitrous to help me relax. I couldn't even tell he was giving me my shots. The procedure went well and Doctor Jason made sure I was comfortable and I didn't feel a thing. I enjoyed my music through the whole procedure and when it was over they gave me a coupon for a free coffee. I was told the coffee helps the numbing go away faster. The staff was the super nice, Doctor Jason was aware of my nervousness and made sure I was comfortable. I wish every Doctor was as nice and accommodating as Doctor Jason. I will forever be a patient at Sala Family Dentistry and I will definitely recommend them to my friends! I highly recommend them to you!! more

Great Dentistry 2/10/2011

The experience I had at the Sala Family Dentistry was the best dental visit I have ever had. The staff is very friendly and courteous. You can tell as soon as you walk into the office that the dental staff is very involved with family and the community. I saw Dr. Todd Sala; he was very professional but personable enough to make me feel very comfortable sitting in a dentist chair, which normally is a nightmare for me. I would highly recommend the Sala Family Dentistry to anyone looking for a dentist. \r \r more

I have been a patient of Sala Family Dentistry for over 15 years. I began when it was just Dr. Sala (Dr. Michael Sala). I have to admit when his sons Dr. Jason and Dr. Todd joined the practice I was wondering if the service and attention to detail that I had always received would still be there. Wow! The service is fantastic and their new office is top notch. Now that Dr. Michael is retired his son Dr. Jason has taken great care to make sure all my dental needs are taken care of. Not only does he care about my dental needs he cares about his patients. For the last 20 years I have had a bad habit of chewing tobacco. Dr. Jason provided me with alternative solutions and guidance instead of hard pressure to help me quit this habit. I have to thank him and his wonderful staff for their help. With this help I have not had a chew in over 7 months. With this kind of service and caring I will continue to be a patient of Sala Family dentistry for at least 15 more years. \r more

Great experience time after time 2/2/2011

After living in Sacramento my first 18 years and going to the same dentist I moved to Reno for college. I drove back twice a year because I couldn't find anybody that matched the service here in the Reno/Sparks area. I tried a few different offices. I never liked driving back to Sacramento to go to the dentist. I was referred to the Sala Family Dentistry and will never leave. Every dentist in Reno I had been to before came with a 30 minute wait to just to get in the chair and another 15 minute wait to be seen by hygienist and then 15 minutes more to be seen by the doctor. Not at the S.F.D. They know you as soon as you walk in the door, most of the time they are waiting for you, I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The communication there is excellent, everybody is on the same page and everybody seems happy to be there. You can tell when a staff at an office is happy, it pays off for everybody. The dentists are very welcoming and you never feel rushed, they listen and actually do care. On top of this, one of my best friends just told me the other night that the S.F.D. found a lump in his throat and suggested he had to go see his doctor. It turned out he had a tumor and had to get it removed. It is very important to know your dentist can catch these kind of things. They are kind, knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommended. more

Caring people caring for people 12/12/2010

I have always been petrified of going to the dentist. Dr. Sala and his staff changed that for me. I now consider myself the poster child of going to the dentist.! I was treated kindly and professionaly. I was made to feel at ease and their genuine concern and caring approach helped me to overcome my fear . I would recommend Sala Family Dentistry to everyone. My only regret is that I didn't go sooner! :) more

Reno's Best Dentist 12/8/2010

I have been a patient at Sala Family Dentistry for over 6 years and have never had a bad experience! The front desk is all so nice and helpful with insurance and billing, the assistants are so gentle and caring and the hygienists are an amazing team of knowledgeable people! The doctors are amazing and always have time for questions and conversation! Plus they guarantee their work and have a dental lab onsite for my crowns. I love Sala Family Dentistry and will never go anywhere else! more

Best Dentist... Period. 11/24/2010

I have moved a lot in my 42 years and as a result I have met a lot of different dentists. I have never been treated so kindly and professionally as I have been by this office! I was very impressed with their facility and their staff! I have been a patient now for 7 years and their 5 star care has never wavered! I enjoy my visits to the dentist now and I couldn't say that before! more

The Staff is nothing but wonderful.....The hygienists are gentle..the dental assistants are gentle..the Doctors are gentle...They make you feel comfortable in a place that many people experience major anxiety..If you are nervous at all going to the dentist please give them a try..You won't be sorry....\r \r In responce to other reviews...Who calls anyone in the dental staff a technician? or a nurse? more

Best Dental Office in Town!!!! 11/19/2010

Professional and knowledgeable dental staff, inviting lobby, friendly front office, accommodating scheduling, awesome hygienists and reasonable fees - what more could you ask of your dental experience. \r A Reno native, I have been a patient to at least 6 different local dentists (both good and bad) over the last 30 yrs. I first visited the Sala Family Dentistry when Dr. Mike and Dr. Jason were practicing in their old office and Dr. Todd had just graduated from dental school - 10 +yrs. ago. My experience then and now has always been positive - if anything, they seem to get better with age! They are always giving me the most up to date information about my teeth/gums and how I can improve and maintain my dental health.\r And as if that's not good enough - they continue to help the community and those who may not be able to afford dental care with their annual ""Dentistry from the Heart"" campaign. \r \r more

Caring, knowledgeable and personable. 11/19/2010

I have been a patient for several years now. I find their customer service and genuine care for their patients to be what impressed me from the beginning and what keeps me coming back. The office staff is personable and always greets me by name. They make scheduling and billing easy for me and always fully disclose my payment options and what I can expect on my bill.\r \r In addition to the office staff, I also LOVE Dr. Todd and the hygienists. They take their time with me as a patient and explain everything they are doing and seeing. They present realistic solutions to problems they may discover and really take the time to explain the pros and cons of each solution option, long-term and short. \r \r The doctors and staff are so caring and I know I'm getting the best in experience and knowledge with them. Not to mention their office is so nice – clean, modern, high-tech and inviting. I also appreciate their email reminders when my appointments are coming up.\r \r I have referred several people from my work to Sala Family Dentistry and they love them too. more

I have been a patient of Sala Dentistry since Dr. Mike\r Sala started his first practice in Reno. All the members of my family are patients also. We get excellent care\r from Mike, Jason and Todd. They are knowledgeable \r of the latest trends and equipment in modern dentistry.\r They offer pain-free dental procedures for customary fees. The office is a beautiful new building, designed\r by and for the father/son dental practice. Office staff\r is friendly, prompt, and courteous, even offering same-day appointments for more urgent care. I highly\r recommend Sala Dentistry to family and friends. You won't find more kind, caring prople! more

Very negative, won't be going back 10/21/2010

I was recently a new patient of this office. I switched from my original dentist due to a new health-care plan. Initially, I was super impressed with the office-- they gave me a little gift when I arrived and the dentist seemed very knowledgeable. \r The good experience ended there. I had about $2K worth of work done (a crown). At that appointment they had a dental tech assisting who was clearly a trainee. I am certain of this because there was another dental tech standing outside the room telling her how to hold the instruments. Throughout the procedure she seemed really uncertain and made me a little nervous. For my follow up appointment, I was again provided with the same dental tech (the trainee). She was unable to figure out how to properly turn on the nitrous oxide and needed help. Another dental tech came to replace her because she was having trouble taking my temporary crown off. \r After the appointment, I realized I had accidentally not followed the correct payment procedures my company requires for reimbursement. When I called to get help on this, the office manager was really rude. She wouldn't allow me to finish my sentence and kept interrupting me by saying ""it's impossible!"" and ""there's nothing I can do."" I told her I felt she was being rude and not very customer centric. I even emphasized to her that it was indeed my mistake and that if it wasn't reversed I would have to eat the cost. She didn't seem to care and even told me ""it's not my responsibility to know how you're supposed to pay for your dental work."" I was very upset by the interaction but dismissed it as a cranky office worker. Since I was able to work the payment out through my work, I didn't follow up and mention the interaction to Dr. Sala-- I thought it was probably just a fluke since the rest of his office staff was fairly nice. \r After all of this, I received a (certified!) letter from the office stating they were discontinuing the dentist patient relationship. Since there was no explanation as to why, I called the office. They stated (and I quote!) the dentist ""dismissed"" me due to my interaction with the office manager about the payment. I was totally floored. The dentist never even contacted me to understand my perspective on the interaction. I found the whole experience to be very negative and would certainly not recommend this office to anyone. \r more

Worst Practice on town 5/7/2010

Lack of knowledge and professionalism, from everybody at the office (a family tradition!) including secretaries and nurses. A complete waste of time, money and insurance resources. Make yourself a favor and erase this office from your list. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more
