The Mrs. and I have sushi about twice a month, and we travel in an RV all over the country, so...
Sakura had pretty good sushi at very reasonable prices. Most nigiri were $2.50 (for two.) We had a "Spice Girls Roll" which had shrimp tempura inside with salmon & scallions on top with some kind of drizzle sauce, and it was excellent! ($9). The edemame was average ($4), we also had a vegetable tempura ($8) which was longer on the potatoes and shorter on the veggies than we like, but it wasn't skimpy at all. The meal came with (surprise to us, or we wouldn't have ordered so much) one serving of miso soup and one garden salad (for two people?). And the nigiri was pretty good; the salmon exceptional (if a bit thin), the eel just average, the red snapper good and the mackerel very good. Total bill for two: $38.
All the nigiri was very fresh; no complaints on that score at all.
We would definitely go again, if we would happen to be in Augusta. Conveniently located on 202 just before you get to the big circle which shoots off to the Capitol. From the outside the place doesn't look so good, nor from the inside, actually. For ambience: a 5. For food: an 8. For price: an 8. Overall: an 8. (We don't care so much for ambience.)
The service was very good, although we were there on a Friday night at 7:00 and there was only one waitress. Of course there were only a half dozen tables. (Three people got take-out while we ate, so somebody must think it's OK.)
The two sushi chefs seemed surprised when we said "Thank you" as we left. That's a custom they're not used to?
Pros: good food, good prices
Cons: lacking ambience both inside and out
