Fun Filled day at the St. Louis ZOO 8/17/2005

The st. louis zoo is so much fun for adults and children. My 3 year old is so excited when we mention the zoo. The carousol, Childrens Zoo and Insectarium is free if you go the first hour that they are open. The carousol is huge with hand carved animals it is very pretty. The childrens zoo allows the children to touch the animals. They also have were you can feed the birds our pet the goats. more

Don't Miss the Penguins 8/15/2005

One of the free facilities in the enormous Forest Park, the St. Louis zoo is a favorite among children and adults alike. The zoo features all the normal collection of animals from lions to tigers to bears and has a few exhibits to feature animals in mock ups of their natural habitats. A particular favorite is the penguin exhibit which is an escape from the summer heat and also a fun place to watch the penguins play. more

One of the best zoos in the country 8/14/2005

This zoo is one of the best, and if you are in St. Louis as a visitor or a resident, a visit to the Zoo is a must. The train ride is a highlight, as are the many new attractions that have popped up in the last few years. See penguins WAY up close at the new exhibit "Penguin and Puffin Coast". The Children's Zoo is a great place for kids with hands-on opportunities with animals. Catch the Sea Lion Show during the summer season. This zoo is a must see! more

One of the last free zoos 8/13/2005

Sure, you pay for parking and small fees for some attractions, but it is still way ahead of other zoos in staying an economical place for all to visit. And it is worth visiting with a large variety of animals and exhibits. There is also a Children's Zoo that is a must visit if you have small ones in tow (and that is also free if you go during the first hour the zoo is open). A lot of this low cost is offset by outrageous prices in food and drink inside the zoo. Most locals will bring a picnic lunch to eat in any of the areas in Forest Park. more

Family Day Out! 8/13/2005

The zoo is a fun place to take your kids and family. But they have just regular animals, nothing special- like Memphis pandas, hippos, etc. Snacks and drinks are pricey. Birds poo–pooed on my head twice, the two times I went. Hmm… A bit crowded especially on the weekends! So get there early! more

Do It, Do It Again, Do It Again and Again! 8/11/2005

This is by far our families favorite St. Louis attraction. Admission to the Zoo is free!! You do have to pay to park in the parking lot but limited street parking is available for free. There is also an admission charge for the children's zoo, the train ride, the Insectarium. Animals are housed in a natural environment - you may have to look to find them. The rolling hills of the zoo can be tiring. Concessions are available but you are free to bring your picnic lunch from home as well. The staff is friendly and you won't find a cleaner, more attractive attraction. It's so big you will find it hard to see it all in one day. Go back, you're sure to see and learn something new. more

St. Louis Zoo: A great family outing 8/11/2005

The STL zoo is amazing! Although the admission is free, everything about the place is top notch. The staff is friendly and helpful and the grounds are kept very nice. You may need 2 days to explore the zoo as there is so much to see and do. Another nice thing about the zoo is that they allow you to bring in outside drinks and food so you can have a picnic in many of the common areas. This place is a must see on family vacations and is great for all ages. more

St Louis Zoo 8/9/2005

This is a great place for families to visit. Free admission into the zoo. There is a fee for parking in certain lots. If you are fortunate enough to find parking along the street that is free. Awesome zoo! The animals are in areas that are more like their habitat and not just a cage. The monkey house is less than desirable due to the strong urine smell, but it is air conditioned. The penguins are really neat. Worth the short wait to get in. They only allow so many in at a time. Very cold inside this place. No extra charge for it. There are maps all over, do get one so you can figure out where you want to go and have not been. There is a train ride around the zoo for a fee. more

Affordable family fun 7/22/2005

I have been to the San Diego Zoo and the St. Louis zoo is better. There are so many things to see and do at the St. Louis Zoo. It is free to get into the main part of the zoo. The train is a great time and takes you around the entire zoo and it is reasonably priced. There is a tunnel that the train goes through that may scare smaller kids but it is a lot of fun. The children's zoo costs money but you can experience the animals hands on and if you get there before 10 you can get in free. Parking in their parking lot is expensive but there is free street parking. more
