Bland....... 4/21/2008

I like noodles, what can I say? This restaurant is nice and clean and that's about it. I've been here close to 10 times and each time I went back, I remembered why I didn't like it the last time. \r \r For appetizer I had grilled pork spring rolls. It was not bad but the peanut sauce was tasteless. Then I had #17 on the menu, it had egg noodles in a so-so bland soup with bbq pork and fish-balls. My overall experience was just blah. more

one of the best vietnamese restuarant in all aspects 2/29/2008

when my girlfirend( who is vietnamese) came home raving about a new vietnamese resturant she found. i was skeptical. i have had some bad experiences whith vietnamese restuarants in garden grove. they were either too dirty or didn't speak english. but she kept on bragging about Saigon dish and its friendly owner. so i reluctantly tried and i was not disappointed. After eating there many times for the past 2 months, i have to say it is easily one of the best Asian resurants in all of the Southbay..bar none.\r the resutarant is ridiculously clean. the decor is very contemporary and modern. they play either jazz or classical music. the food is very tasty. the pho was very flavorful and the meat was lean not fatty like other pho places. i love the #46. its filet minion with rice. that meat is so tender and the sauce that they marinate the meat in is to die for. gotta try that dish. my girlfriend loves the pho dac biet. i'm addicted to their iced coffee. but what makes Saigon Dish stand out from all the other pho places is the combination of good food, clean restuarant and excellent customer service skills. John, the owner, has the best customer service skill i have ever seen at any restaurant ..period. the way he remembers everybodys name and what the like to eat is absolutely amazing. at first i thought he was friendly because that was his job. but after eating ther many time and seeing how he interacts with both the male and female young and old customers alike. i think he is genuinely that friendly to everyone. So i highly recommend SAIGON DISH to everyone. i try to bring as many people as i can. PS if its your first time, try to avoid being helped by an employee they affectionately call :""jo"". he means well but as a habit of always meesing up my order. but i tell john and he fixes it. if possible have john help you. unless its busy. ""jo"" either can't speak or understand english very well but some always gets my order wrong. more

raging lunatic manager 2/7/2008

The manager berates and humiliates his employees in front of customers, and then turns around in the same breath and sentence, and smiles and acts ""nice"" to the customer. Each time I go there this is happening the entire time. It only makes the manager look bad, like he has no confidence in himself or the choices he makes, and so he takes it out on his workers. \r \r For example, he snaps on one server who's always out there taking orders. You will see this and also the embarrassment and weariness in the server's eyes. It's not pretty. \r \r Others customers see it too. On two different occasions some customers at the next table and I looked at each other feeling disgust for the manager's ugly behavior. \r \r This manager is a raging micromanaging maniac psychopath. I really feel for the workers there, and will not go back. \r \r I am afraid that otherwise good workers might be filled with so much rage and powerlessness that out of fear of talking to the boss they might take out their frustrations on the customer sometimes (i.e. alter the food if you know what I mean) because the manager treats them so horribly. good people turned bad you know. It's not a good situation. Watch out. \r \r Stop humiliating your employees in public and you will get more business, homie. Pros: nice staff Cons: bad manager, uncomfortable atmosphere because of it more

Great pho and vietnamese food 12/12/2006

The Pho is phonamenal (haha), but really it is. I have tried everything on the menu and it's all delicous. The service is good and the owner is always there with a smile to greet you. The shrimp spring rolls are delicious and never old or soggy. The seafood pho is my personal favorite but the pork and meat broth are also good. It's great to have an inexpensive and delicious vietnamese restaurant in the south bay. Try it and you will be a loyal customer. Lastly, the decor is contemporary and intimate. If you go during dinner time you might have to wait . A friend also told me that during lunch time in the weekdays it gets crowded. There is ample parking. Enjoy. Pros: Delicious food Cons: Small place more
