I used to shop at Sagar a few years back. Due to some personal drama, I stopped shopping there. Recently I added Varsha & Rubin (the owner & owner's husband) onto my Facebook account. I was able to see some of her recent stuff and realised how much I missed shopping there. My sister is Varsha's regular customer who is always bringing home really nice pieces. So for Eid I told my husband I am going to put the past behind us and start a new relationship with Sagar Emporium.\r \r When I walked into the store, Sagar Emporium was extremely busy especially with bridal customers. But I was greeted with warmth and the staff is extremely friendly. I really wanted Varsha's attention so I waited for my turn in line. In the meantime, her husband Rubin and her son, Sagar, helped me out alot. \r \r I've always been a very picky shopper and they were so patient with me. They tried their best to satisfy me. Customer service like that goes a really long way. Varsha is so sweet and understanding. She helped me out alot and when we walked out, my husband and I had a smile on our faces. I was so FORTUNATE to stumble into Sagar Exclusive on a rainy day this past January. I was on an important journey as I was getting married in June and on a mission to find my Beautiful Sari. My 7 bridesmaids and I had trekked all over the bay area and ventured into at least 30+ stores looking for the right one. Although I am half Indian I do not look like I am and neither do many of my bridesmaids so most store owners would not give us the time of day. After feeling rejected by yet another store I found Sagar Exclusive on the internet and made ONE final trip to see what if anything could they offer. I was greeted by Varsha (the owner) who must have seen the sadness in my eyes as she placed her hands on my shoulders and said “what’s wrong baby you look so sad” I started to cry and told her my awful experiences thus far. After my story was told Varsha helped me and my very best friends and family find the MOST beautiful outfits I have ever seen, which by the way she designed. If you are looking for a BEAUTIFUL outfits and accessories THEN Sagar Exclusive is the place to go. I’m extremely pleased that my experience with Sagar Exclusive was outstanding. I recently got married (August 2009) and needed several bridal outfits for my three day wedding event. I was an extremely selective bride and was looking for a variety of bridal pieces that were unique, traditional and modern. After traveling to so many bridal boutiques over seas and here I finally found what I was looking for at Sagar Exclusive.\r \r Varsha Patel (SE owner) designed all three of my bridal pieces. My reception lengha was the real thing, embedded with Swarovski crystals and rhinestones it was perfect, except it was missing one thing. I wanted a train to give a touch of the modern look. After brainstorming Varsha put her expertise to work. It seemed impossible at first but she had a gorgeous matching train sent from India for my lengha. On the day of my wedding she and her team sewed the piece on, creating the look I wanted. My lengha was so elegant that it was the topic of the evening. I wasn’t sure if we could pull it off because trains are not common in Indian lengha’s but I was very pleased with the final outcome.\r \r My second outfit was slightly a more traditional lengha. Because I’m slightly thin, Varsha had to tailor the skirt and sew the top. I told her how I wanted it sewn. When the outfit was complete it fit me perfect. I had no issues with her tailoring service. And when something wasn’t right, she and her staff did not hesitate to fixed it.\r \r Wedding time is extremely stressful for a bride so receiving prompt and reliable service from Sagar Exclusive meant so much to me. They put me at ease. Anytime I needed something I called, emailed or dropped by. Varsha and the Sagar Exclusive team were always ready to help. I’m especially pleased with their knowledge and expertise in the high quality of clothes and jewelry they sell. The only downfall is that their product is slightly pricey but because Sagar Exclusive had excellent customer service and top of the line products that no other boutiques carry, so it was so worth it.\r \r Would I recommend other brides to shop here? I bought a beautiful lehenga for my wedding at this store. The fabric and quality of the piece was great and I was very excited about finding the perfect outfit for my wedding. The skirt portion was already made but needed to be altered and the top was not made, it came with fabric to make a blouse top. The cost of the outfit ($700) included all tailoring and alterations. I came back later to the store so that they could take my measurements and I could describe to them what I wanted before they started the tailoring. Everything up to this point was great, the problem occurred after the outfit came back after having been altered and tailored in India. I couldn't believe my eyes as to what a horrible and unprofessional job their tailor had done. (Please see pictures on yelp).\r \r 1. They hadn't done anything to the skirt, it was about 4 inches too big on my waist and way too long even though they had taken both measurements at their store. \r 2. The blouse! They had added some sort of band to the middle of the blouse (who knows why?) and the band didn't even go all the way around, there was a gap in the middle of it.\r 3. There was a pattern at the bottom of the blouse that was cut across the top (see pictures) \r 4. The blouse hung loosely on me. It was clear they hadn't used my measurements to make it at all\r \r I didn't know what to do, I couldn't wear the outfit at my wedding now after what their tailor had done to it. I had a little fabric leftover from the dupatta that could be used to repair the blouse but did I want to take a chance on their unprofessional (possibly blind?) tailor? After a lot of angry emails and calls back and forth, Varsha (owner) agreed to refund my money. Alright I was happy with that, I had such negative associations with that outfit that I was happy to not see it again. I started looking for another wedding outfit. She calls me back a few days later and tells me after talking to her husband she realized that she can't refund my money after all. I was furious at this point!! In the end, they refunded $100 of my $700 so that I could take the outfit to a professional tailor who fixed everything. I wore the outfit at my wedding and was very happy.\r \r I want to warn other brides about this business. The owner comes off as very sincere and trustworthy but in the end she used the cheapest tailor that she could find in India to work on my wedding outfit, she wouldn't take any responsibility for the mistakes made and then backed out of promises she made. You might want to buy a ready-made outfit from their store because they do have some nice things but anything you need to get tailored or altered or especially for a special occassion like a wedding, FORGET IT! more
