Horror show! Fake Indian food and you will walk out Hungry 1/17/2011

It is located in a rundown neighbourhood, got stuck in the elevator in the parking garage has to call emergency. This place is located in a rundown office building which is hard to find. Food they serve is not even Indian food.I am from NYC have been to hundreds of Indian restaurants at all levels, this is the most worst Indian restuarant in the continental US.I walked out hungry. more

Disappointing 10/17/2009

The food pricing was not too off the mark, but food preparation failed miserably. I would definitely not recommend this place to any person who has eaten at other Indian restaurants and has some idea of what Indian cuisine tastes like. \r It is very difficult to go wrong with tandoor preparations, yet the one that I chose came dry and tough. I can make better chicken tikka at home myself! Also I was amazed that the chutneys were bad....that is a staple of any Indian restaurant and home. Frankly, I have had better Indian food at roadside dhabas!! Pros: None to write home about Cons: Bad food more

Overpriced, bland food, friendly waiters, good ambience 9/13/2008

I've been here several times and the waiters and ambience might be the only pros...It seems like they use the same gravy for a lot of the dishes and they are extremely bland. The fried items have a coarse taste. The dinner buffet is extremely overpriced.. they basically put too many dishes out and charge you $16-$17 for it. You would be better served going to another restaurant and ordering a la carte. Flavors of India (Formerly Kashmir palace) and Cafe Tandoor (no buffet here) are better... Pros: ambience, service Cons: bland food, overpriced more

Avoid Overrated Ripoff Under the Legacy of Previous Owner 6/29/2008

Saffron Patch has been steadily going downhill since the previous owner/founder sold this restaurant a few years ago. But I did not realize how bad it has gotten until my recent visit. The Goan Fish Curry (previous owner's specialty) not only was prepared with a different sauce (tested like some combination of North Indian and North American sauces blended together with no coconut). The fish was stale and did not appeared to have been cooked (weird, chooeey feeling in mouth).\r \r The service was poor.\r \r Stay away. Cons: Food Quality, Price, Service more

Average Indian Resturant 10/30/2007

This is one of the average resturants, with inconsistent quality and por imitation of original delicasies.\r I was disappointed with their naans and thali, where the samosas were oily, rajma was burnt, rice was dry. Only good part was their sweets or desserts. I would not recommend for Indians, who have tasted the original Indian cuisine and expect authentic taste. more

Big no no 9/30/2007

Very bad experience, ""woh kehte hain na hindi mein, naam bade aur darshan chote"", made us eat burnt naan twice, not advisable, frozen indian food much better. more

What happened to Saffron Patch??? 9/14/2007

For the last 7 years my husband and I have made Saffron Patch our restaurant of choice to celebrate minor and major milestones in our lives. It was always a highly pleasureable experience, and we always left there boosting about the food and the service. \r The last three times we have been there, the experience have been very dissapointing.. The wait staff seems like they have been forced to be there against their will, and you can barely get their attention. The last time we were there we waited 45 minutes from the time we ordered till we got our food. No one bothered to come to our table to check on us, or offer us more drinks. I had to catch one of the buzzers, as she was flying by, to ask if she would kindly just bring us a pitcher of water so we could just help ourselves.\r Repeatedly throughout our visit there, the dishwasher came out into the dining room with his blue rubber apron and absolutely filthy clothes. Now, both my husband and I have worked as Restaurant staff, so we know what goes on in a restarant. But when you are there as a guest you would rather not see what the food might look like after it has been disposed of. Is'nt that part of the reason you go out to eat? The breaking point for me (and what made me take the time to write this review) was when one of the chefs came out into the dining room, grabbed his apron and rubbed it in his sweatty face. Talk about a turn-off! Before we left we had to ask the waitress if the restaurant has changed owners, because going there now cant be compared to what it was a few years ago. She informed us it was still under the same ownership. \r Obviously, the food was always the main attraction. And although it hasn't really changed, it doesn't taste as good after you see sweat dripping from the chef's forehead...\r So, I'm asking; what happened???? Can somebody tell me? Pros: food mostly good, decent atmosphere, parking close to door Cons: expencive, poor service, more

Don't waste your time. Go to Cafe Tandoor instead!!! 9/9/2007

Don't waste your time here. Go to Cafe Tandoor (on S. Taylor Rd) instead!!!!!\r \r I have been to this restaurant a couple times because I'd heard it was good..... But I just am not impressed at all. The food is actually sort of bland, the decor is too over the top for my tastes, and the prices are just way too high. It also did not feel authentic to me, which is a must.. If you are going to say something is ""indian"" (or any other type of cuisine) then it better be! Cons: Price, Parking, Authenticity more

Recommend the Lunch Buffet 7/3/2007

Being of Indian origin, my wife and I are usually quite picky about Indian food but we both found the food very good and flavourful. The naans were soft and fluffy and the curries had obviously used fresh spices. We're definitely going back and recommend this restaurant. Pros: Excellent food, excellent wait staff Cons: Ambience ok more

Do not Eat Biryani 6/28/2007

I went twice to this restaurant. Once we eat roti and veg curry and food is good. Next time i took my brother who visited us in holidays and i tought i would give him some good tasting food. Then we went and ordered biryani's, one veg, chicken and mutton biryani. All of the biryani's are pretty BAD. Rest of the dishes may be good but i didn't tried so i cannot comment. As i am from hyderabad i had a craving for biryani so i ordered it. Cons: DO NOT EAT BIRYANI(Waste of money) more

Not worth your while and money!!! 5/29/2007

Wife was in the mood for Indian cuisine and having tried out other Indian restaurants around Cleveland, Saffron Patch was on our list. Mapquest gave us the wrong directions yet again and when we called the restaurant to ask for directions, the lady at the reception was at a loss...c'mon, every one should know some landmark near to their workplace. This lady was a lame duck at giving directions. All she managed to tell us that they were 5 miles south of I-271 (some direction, that!!). We called again after some searching and, God save us, the same lady answered. After 10 minutes, the good sense of calling someone else, prevailed on her and we managed to find our way to a big office building. If you call persian style carpets on the walls and on the floor a wonderful setting for an Indian restaurant...this is your place (to me it is just an indication that explicitly states ""since - we - spent - so - much - money putting - up - these - oriental - carpets - on - the - wall, - we - would - love - to - have - you - pay - through - your - nose - for sub-standard - Indian - fare!!!)\r \r These days they pass off anything as Indian Cuisine...it is criminal the way they drum out fancy names and descriptions on the menu while dishing out food that is bland (mind you, the Naan was burnt!), the undertones of the falvors are the same so you know they are using the same base for almost all the dishes and when u leave a 10% tip, a snooty waitress pounces upon you as you leave the door demanding the mandatory 20% tip (how uncouth!!!)....It makes you wish you could reach into your gut, grab the food and give it back saying...20% plus your food....enjoy! more

Great choice for Indian food! 1/28/2005

In town on vacation, we tried out this Indian restaurant in an office building. Buffet was small, but had lots of vegetarian choices. The food rivaled some of the best Indian food I've had. Service was also good for a buffet. I would definitely recommend trying out Saffron Patch for their buffet... don't be intimidated by the location! Pros: delicious Indian, reasonable price Cons: location more

Nice place for Indian food 11/10/2002

Of the places around Cleveland, this has been the most consistent of them all. The food is good and so is the variety more

Not the best in town 8/13/2002

Food is good, but not as good as others, especially for the prices. No pappadums or rice with many dishes. Service was slow, and they are not prepared for special requests. We walked in once when the sign said Open, but couldn't find anyone to seat us, and no one else was there, so we left. Hard to find the entrance and parking. Pros: Nice decor Cons: Overpriced, Difficult to park more
