Safety America Karate

My child has been training here for a year and the instructors are wonderful with small children. They know just the right amount of discipline and the kids all have a blast while learning real self defense and stranger danger. Sensei Gifford taught the sugar land police DARE Program (Stranger Danger) for 10 years. I would highly recommend safety america to anyone!!! more

I have participated in this school for almost 20 years. It has made me who I am today! I have learned respect, discipline, honor, and humility. Not to mention learning how to defend myself if needed. I would recommend anyone to go to safety america karate and learn the same values that I had received! more

Safety America and Sensei Gifford have not only tremendously enhanced my martial arts skills but have taught me the discipline and strength that I continually apply to my life. After nine years of studying in Sensei Gifford's dojo, I earned my black belt and am so grateful for all the support and knowledge that the system has given me. Both my mother and I worked to get our black belts and grew both in mind and body when we were there. Safety America has a wonderful staff, a wonderful center to learn, and is a great place to enrich oneself. As for costs, it is a bargain compared to the other ""street mall"" schools that only wish to give you your black belt in a year or two and take away your money. At Safety America you truly earn your black belt. more

Owner Gifford would not let my children use their own, previously purchased, sparring gear. He said that I have to purchase Safety America gear for $175 a set (I have 3 children). He would not allow them to continue classes unless I purchase their gear. Same sparring pads sell for $50 - $70 online and at Academy. When I questioned why I have to purchase ""his"" gear he replied that I either buy his gear or my kids can go some place else. I reminded him that this was not in the one year contract that we signed upon registration. How can he expect parents to pay so much when we are already paying $130per child per month for lessons? In front of my children, he barked that I can either buy his gear or go somewhere else. (Thus breaking the contract ) He further said that it was his business and if I didn't like it I could sue him. BTW, he does not take credit cards, cash only system. I was stunned by the lack of professionalism he displayed in front of my kids. Very sad role model for children. more

Stay away from this place. The guy who own the school, Robert Gifford, has serious attitude and manner issues. more
