Pad Thai is indeed awful, a gloppy mass of noodles in an oversweet red sauce. No green onions, no shreds of egg, no real vegetables to speak of, just a few sad over cooked shrimp....

Sa Bai Thong 12/15/2005

This is the best Thai restaurant in Madison, we think. It is on the more expensive side compares to the rest. Their curries and stir fried dishes are pretty good. I like the noodles at another place better though. I like the Tom Ka Kai which is a coconut, lemongrass and galangal based soup. The dessert selection is very limited (and the Mango with Sticky Rice is not available at all the time). but the Custard with Sticky Rice is quite good. Nice and friendly waitstaff. Ample parking. more

This is about as close as you can get to some authentic food. They have a little bit of a pricey menu but the food taste delicious and I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in a authentic meal. It's filling to, no messing around being hungry later, this place will fill you right up. more

Good Cheap Thai Food 8/21/2005

Sa-Bai Thong features some of the best Thai food in Madison. With reasonable prices and two fairly convenient locations, Sa-Bai Thong is one of your best bets for Thai food in Madison. Several items to try are the vegetarian spring rolls, both the red and green curries, and the Pad Thai. The food isn't too greasy and is very affordable. more

So good.. it leaves you craving for more 8/11/2005

Thai food is excellent in general. Sa Bai Thong is a friendly management, starting out with the Univ. Ave location, and quickly expanding to another location at Odana Rd. Their Roast Duck Curry is to die for, although the portion is somewhat little when you are sharing 2 other dishes with 3 other people. (We usually eat family-style so that we have the option of sampling many many dishes at one go... =) ) The tom yum soup and a 'dryer' version of it : tom yum talay hung, is chockful of flavor, and ooh, so satisfying. For dessert, try the sticky rice with mango, although depending on the season, sometimes it is not available. more
