Here is a my review of the experience I had with Carbone replacing my \r
My boiler was not firing up and heating my house so I selected Carbone based on its really good reviews I found on line. They were accommodating and were able to get someone to my home that evening. The technician who arrived was clearly experienced and advised me that the boiler was pretty old and in need of replacement. I had heard this before from other times when the boiler was being serviced and always managed to eventually find someone who could fix the problem rather than replace the entire boiler. But I had read up and the average length of a boiler life was 20 years and this one was over 40. So I acquiesced to replace it. The estimate I was given seemed reasonable again based on internet research and they told me they could be there the next day to replace it.\r

I took the day out of work so I could be here for the service. Unfortunately they must have had a pretty full schedule because they did not arrive until about 4:30pm and I really could have gone to work that day. I will say that the 2 guys who showed up worked hard and put in a long night. They had a hart time getting out the old boiler. They tried to do a good job staying clean. There was an accidental elbow through the wall in the furnace room. If's only the furnace room and accidents happen so I don't hold that against them. I could tell these guys had come here from other jobs and hadn't had dinner and were pretty beat by the time they finished at 10pm. \r

Unfortunately they had trouble with rewiring the new boiler and couldn't get it to turn on from the thermostat so they told me one of them would come back again the next day. They wrote up the bill for the days work and noted on it that there were 'EXISTING' wiring issues and they would have to come back for that. That worried me a bit because there were no wiring issues with the heating system prior to the boiler replacement. But they redeemed themselves by not billing me for the return visit (relieved).\r

The next day they did come and got the wiring to work 'sort of'. I now can turn on the heat with the thermostat but I perviously had 2 zone heating where I could control whether or not to heat the basement when I turned on the heat. I've lost that feature and that's disappointing. On the other hand at least 4 other repairman have told me that my boiler was wired in a very unusual way and they couldn't figure it out though it did work the way it was. \r
\r
They left the old boiler in my basement and told me a crew would come to pick it up in one to two days. It's now 6 days and I called the company today to ask them to come and get it.\r

Wow, that's a lot of information to digest. In summary I think the guys who came out were hard working, honest and did a good job. The project is a little tainted by the hole in the wall, old boiler still here, (both minor) but the loss of zone heating is a bit of a bummer. I would still use them again and would recommend them.
