I think Ruth's is great. Somehow they are able to find the balance between preserving privacy and offering excellent fitting and advice. Even on a very busy Saturday, they never made me feel rushed, yet neither did I feel like I had an interminable wait. Efficient yet individual attention. They can even help my very shy eleven-year old find an appropriate, well-fitted "first real" bra. The bras are expensive, to be sure, but they are well-made. I love it there. (A reaction to the woman who was highly insulted when trying to return a bra after 2 years--take the bra back earlier. Ruth's is a small business and can't absorb the costs that a huge conglomerate like Nordstrom's can. If you don't want the small business to be around, take your business to Nordstrom's. If you like what a small business can offer, then reframe your expectations or you'll only have big box stores to shop at in the future. You might also recognize that the salesperson who offered a DYI option was undoubtedly just trying to be helpful and nice; I sincerely doubt any harm or insult was intended.)
