I wasn't impressed. Food okay, very expensive. Did not like atmosphere. Cons: Expensive

Disappointing 3/18/2007

I have been to Ruth's Chris restaurants at locations all over the country, and had never once been disappointed...until now. The filet mignon steaks were cooked to order, but the meat was fatty, bland, and definitely not worth the pricetag. The asparagas we ordered as a side was pale, flavorless, and overcooked. One bright spot: the mashed potatoes were quite good. Our server was nice, but since we were her only table on the outside patio, she kept forgetting about us. Which was a shame because we would have ordered a second round of drinks and dessert. In fact, we ended up eating our main course staring longingly at our empty wine glasses (a busboy brought out our entrees and we just assumed our waitress would eventually check on us). Definitely not worth the $100 bill for two people. Pros: Convenient location. Good winelist. Cons: Overrrated food. Poor value. more

Best steak I had in a while. 8/24/2006

I went there on a spurr of the moment and a quick city guide searh, and I was greatly surprised. Both mine any my dates steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Reccomend the lolly-pop lamb chop appitiser. Great! Pros: Steaks!, service more

I use to love it too! 5/16/2005

I love all the Ruth's Chris SH around the country too. I also loved this one until my last visit in January when the steaks were average, not outstanding. I will give it another try, maybe it was just an off night? more

Is it just me? 12/19/2004

I've been in Ruth's Chris in different cities (NYC and DC), and got used to rather good quality of food and service. Recent visit to local Ruth's Chris SH in Richmond was nothing but disaster. Despite the good service (kinda expected from this restaurant ) i was disapointed with food (never happened before). My steak instead of being medium came as well done, after me pointing out that its not what i wanted they didnt even offer to exchange it. I got used to see Ruth's Chris chain as respectable decent place to eat. I guess it's not true in Richmond:( more

Over rated 5/26/2004

As always the staff, atmosphere and attentiveness is superb. However, the food is just not doing if for me: Steaks cooked as requested, but really no flavor .really wanted steak sauce to make it taste good. Steaks not as tender as I expected for good cuts of beef. (Filet, and Cowboy Ribeye) To be honest, I have had tastier steaks, twice running at Ruby Tuesday, and at $12.50 for the entire meal. Steaks, just need something to gain flavor, maybe give customer option on garlic, peppercorn, etc. without adding cost. Broccoli, steamed.blandno flavors Bread, ok Oyster Rockefeller's, ok not great. Oysters really small (but large shells) Spiced cake, tasted like a hunk of sugar..where was the cake? Turtle, ok only Too much money for the quality of food. Pros: Great Service, Great Atmosphere Cons: Too expensive, Food Bland more

The Best Restaurant in Richmond 3/7/2004

This is by far one of the best restaurants in Virginia! Mouth watering and sizzling steak! Great seafood including live Maine Lobsters and excellent atmosphere. Historic old plantation charm and great bar! Pros: Parking, Atmosphere, Food more

The Best of the Best 2/14/2004

This is one restaurant you can't beat. I have gone to many upscale steakhouses across the country and have truly found this to be the best (no matter which Ruth's Chris you are at). The certified angus steaks melt in your mouth, the service is outstanding, and the romantic atmosphere is out-of-this world. Yes, you pay the price for all of this, but it is well worth it. If you don't believe me, call for a reservation. They are always booked (sometimes a month ahead of time). That should speak for itself! Pros: food, service, atmosphere more

Still My Wife's Favorite 3/21/2003

My wife and I frequently dine out and we have sampled many, many restaurants in the Richmond metro area. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse continues to remain at the top of our list. When you take into consideration the food, the elegant dining area, and the service, this restaurant never disappoints. Bookbinders, Buckheads, and Grey Swamp Inn are comparable with food, but Ruth has the rest hands down. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service more

Mystery and great steak 2/4/2003

Thwarted love, mysterious deaths and great steaks...how can you beat it! But don't eat for a day before you come! GREAT steaks, and _huge_ servings! We found entrees and sides couild easily be split among three people with some to take home. And don't try it without a reservation! Pros: steaks, ambience, side dishes Cons: price, cholesterol more

Overpriced/not so good 1/13/2003

My experience at Ruth Chris was terrible. The steak was burned I ordered it MR. The service was terrible as well. For the money I spent it was not worth it. more

Very Impressive 10/30/2002

My family and I have recently moved to Richmond. We have eaten at Ruth's Chris which were already familiar with, The North Pole and Original Old Bookbinders. We have found our steakhouse of choice and it is Ruth's Chris. If you want a Plymouth, go to Bookbinders. If you want an Oldsmobile, go to The North Pole. If you want a Mercedes, go to Ruth's Chris. There was no comparison. Pros: Unbelievable steraks, Best Tuna ever, Incredibly friendly Cons: parking taken more

It's alright 10/28/2002

I will admit the food we did get was awesome as far as quality and taste. The steak was huge, tender and cooked great. The baked potato was large enough to cover a large dinner plate and could serve probably 3 people. The shrimp coctail arrived with 5 very large shrimp. I do think this place is overpriced. Definatley a romantic spot to go, although last time we went it looked like the local grease monkeys were having meeting at the table behind us. The dress code for that place should probably be a little more enforced...I don't like the idea of paying $150 for my wife and I to eat with slobs sitting behind us. The service is excellent and as other reviews have stated the place is down right beautiful. Parking does suck on busy nights... Pros: Good food, large portions, romantic Cons: OVERPRICED, Parking, portions too large more

Simply wonderful! 8/7/2002

The building itself is a beautiful old plantation home. The service is prompt as well as excellant. The food is some of the best I've ever had. It's a great place for a romantic dinner. more
