These are the best steaks I have ever had, extremely juicy and tender, my husband & I always eat hear every time we come to K.C. I just love the atmosphere, Its a place for a special occasion because it can be a little pricey but worth every penny, we always get the ribeye steak with the au gratin potatoes, and asparagus, the only thing I did not like there in the past was their garlic mashed potatoes because they were instant, I don't think a place like this that charges the prices they do should serve instant potatoes, although the au gratin ones were not instant more

The filet melts in your mouth. If you are in the mood for steak, this is the place to go! Also great atmosphere. more

Tough steak not a bargin 4/15/2006

The Seared Tuna was fantastic, but my strip steak could be beat my almosst anyone. Service was exce;;ent. The house wine is a very poor choice. I would normaly sent the steak back but we were late for a concert and already blowing the start even with $100.00 seats!! Pros: service, fish Cons: overpriced, steaks more

Expensive and Inconsistent 12/16/2005

After reading the excellent reviews, my wife and I had high hopes for a spectacular dinner - maybe unrealistically high? We were seated promptly in a beautiful, romantic dining room. My wife ordered the petite fillet cooked medium. It was perfectly prepared, tender and delicious. I opted for the ribeye also medium. The steak was large but contained large sections of fat. I would estimate that 25% was inedible. The thicker portion of the steak was significantly undercooked - bright red instead of pink. The ala carte side dishes were also frustating. I ordered the mashed garlic potatoes (house specialty) and my wife opted for the au gratin potatoes upon recommendation of the waiter. The portions were entirely too large. A good waiter would have suggested sharing a potato and maybe another vegetable like asparagus. Back on the plus side, we shared a fabulous creme brulee for dessert. When two can pay $150 for a meal and leave feeling that it was worth every penny then you are on to something. I like this place so much that I got engaged there and had my rehearsal dinner there. If anyone doesn't like this place they have an axe to grind for whatever reason. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is superb. It would be a great place without the food. Mouth Watering 5/20/2004

Here is my recent experience....start off with hot loaf of bread and the Shrimp Scampi appetizer, then the French Onion Soup (outta this world)...and for the main course - served on the 500 degree piping hot plate - the UNBELIEVABLE FILET and don't forget the generous sized baked potato.....and if that weren't enough...I had to have the Cremebrulee! amazing 3/12/2004

My husband and I went there for dinner on our wedding night. The food was incredible!!! The steaks were so tender that you did not need a knife. It melted in your mouth. We had a wonderful window view. Our server made the best wine suggestions. It is the best steak in town. Pros: wonderful meat, valet parking, plaza view more

Having heard so much about Ruth's Chris, I decided to give them a try and see what the fuss is all about. The Kansas City Strip Steak was served piping hot with all the trimmings (potatoes and broccoli). Servings are huge so definitely bring your appetite. While the food is of the utmost quality, it doesn't justify its expensive price. One can be easily venture over to Jess & Jim's, eat a decent meal and not spend nearly as much. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was as well. Semi upscale. All of the food is served a la carte. Which is kind of pricey. Great wine list. The steak was among the best in the United States. more

Worth every $150.00 2/4/2003

This is the best steak house I have ever been to. A little pricey, but SO worth it. The steak is so delicious, and they get it right every time. No sending it back for repairs. If I could eat here everyday I would!!!! Bring it on........ more

Ruth's Chris steaks are always tender, sizzling hot & delicious! They are the best steaks that I have ever had! The service is excellent and everything is hot and tasty. The crab cakes appetizers are unbelievable as well. The atmosphere is just right - dark, warm and cozy. I heartily recommend Ruth's Chris! Ruth's Chris Steak House was one of the very best steak restaurants I have ever been to. The service was wonderful, and the steak tasted great. We also had a delicious desert...I recommend the brownie with the raspberries & blackberries. I would definitely go there again! more

Highly overrated & Way Overpriced 11/8/2002

I wish this joint would just up and leave KC. Too bad KC residents on the Plaza are not more discriminating. Were it not for Rush Limbaugh's advertising for them, I doubt that they'd remain in business in KC. Very poor quality. The true beef flavor is lost in spices probably because the beef is not of superior caliber. Cannot hold a candle to the real locally owned steakhouses in KC. Service is overdone... please just leave me alone sometimes allright, allready? Pros: nothing positive Cons: Way overpriced, Spices hide flavor, over-serviced more

We come back every year! 8/29/2002

If you're on a budget, don't bother. But if you want the best, this is the place. My two brothers and our wifes make this excellent resturant a yearly tradition of getting together once a year. Excellent food, great service and a great atmosphere make this a must. The first year we were there we asked if we could have separate check. Without hesitation came the reply, ""no problem"". We love it. more
