very bad place, ripoff 12/29/2013

charged me $80 for nothing and said my puppy needs to go to the oradell animal hospital because my puppy needs surgery. I do not know how the doc realized my baby needs surgery and she did not even examine him. She was rude when I started asking questions and could not tell me what was wrong with my puppy. These animal hospitals work together to milk pet lovers out of lots of money, they would kill your pets just for a few bucks. These people do not have hearts they are devils. what a shame more

NOT for Ferrets 1/7/2013

I had taken my ferret to Rutherford animal hospital and she was horribly- and I mean HORRIBLY misdiagnosed. The doctors are nice and friendly, but between the 3 doctors who had reviewed her case-I cannot believe what a bad mistake was made. Basically, my ferret had a very bad cold-with flu like symptoms. They put her through a lot of testing and had her stay at the hospital; which cost me thousands for a few days. They were nice to me and to her, but from their analysis of the tests, they said she had cancer. They did not explain the results in detail. They said she could possibly survive if given chemotherapy as soon as possible. I decided to do a lot of research for another doctor who deals with exotics and found a PERFECT vet in Bound Brook, NJ-for a second opinion, as CHEMO is a severe treatment. The next day, I took her and the lab results to the other vet, who really took the time to read and THOROUGHLY explain everything in the reports to me. He finally stated, "the test results more

He finally stated, ""the test results suggest it MAY be cancer-but after examining her--IT IS DEFINITELY NOT CANCER!!!!"" He treated her, giving the proper meds and within a day she was back to normal and healthy. Rutherford wanted to give chemo to my pet, who did not have cancer and probably would have endured some bad side effects -as it does with humans!!!! All that being said, the vet in Bound Brook explained how a lot of larger facilities jump the gun and often juice people for cash-which is what happened to me and my poor ferret who was not treated properly at Rutherford. I feel bad writing this, because the people were nice, but after that experience, I would never go there again-nor would I recommend them. Please note that this is concerning my case with a ferret. They may be fine with dogs, cats, etc. Not related to Rutherford, but I had another bad experience with Ridgewood concerning a bird-just so you know. more

No better place for your animal in the area, by far. 3/20/2012

The staff is friendly and courteous, the Dr's caring and compassionate and the prices more than fair. What else can you ask for. more

Caring and Compassionate 3/20/2012

After seeing two other Vets and realizing my ""son"" had to be euthanized, I arrived at Rutherford Animal Hospital and met Dr. Laquinto. She was courteous, professional and caring. After performing the euthanasia, I received a call confirming that all had gone well and also a statement that proved to me she had gone above and beyond the requirements of her job. She showed she cared and when the time comes for a new animal my decision on the Vet of choice is made. Thank You Dr. more
