She was both mediator and arbitrator in my child custody case. I agree with the description of biased, cold, and uncaring. I'd like to add rude and condescending to the list.
I am strongly suspicious that she has a prejudice (or personal vendetta) against mothers, especially if in a low income bracket. It is the only reason I can come up with that she would make some of the decisions she did.
She was very snide in her rejection of my request that my (then 5 year old) child not be permitted to drive a motorcycle until he is old enough to have a license. I also pointed out that his father is missing flesh from his leg from a motorcycle accident and he was supervising his older son when he was in a separate accident resulting in broken bones. In case you are wondering 3 years later I picked up my son to find him limping and with a horrible raw wound covering half his leg and burn marks on his face and neck. This was caused by a motorcycle accident 2 days before hand which his father let him ride. I had not been informed he had been injured and he had not been seen by a doctor. I took him in and he was given antibiotics for the wound due to the size, depth, and nature. Yes this is his father's fault. But it is also Cheryl Russell's as she is in full support of little children driving motorcycles by themselves. And no, this is not the only problem steming from decisions she made about the parenting plan.
I thought it might have been just me until a friend had an even worse experience with her.
If you can avoid having her as a mediator do. If you cannot, consider walking out right after arriving to save your $ for court or another mediator.
