The food is very good, but the portions aren't large enough for the price. Don't get a drink, it's just a take-out cup. more

Great Thai 1/3/2012

Okay, I've had better Pad Thai, but that's really an American dish. Everything else I've had is definitely above average. Try the excellent curry dishes (my favorites-and they will actually make it Thai hot for me) or some of the basil, ginger, or brown sauce preparations. The atmosphere is nice with subdued lighting. Service is leisurely -- this is not fast food. I like this restaurant well enough to have stopped what I was doing when I was looking up their number to respond to the negative reviews. This is the most authentic Thai restaurant in Brentwood/Cool Springs. more

Great Thai food - just pick the right location! 2/9/2010

Look folks, This is the review for Royal Thai in Brentwood - not the one on 19th. If you haven't eaten Thai all over the place (or had it prepared by an actual Thai native), you may not know the difference between standard Thai stuff and Thai when it includes Kaffir limes, kha phrao, phrik khi nu, or other authentic Thai flavors. The Royal Thai in Brentwood does it all, and they do a stellar job - you can safely ignore the negative reviews herein as those who simply don't know what real Thai cooking is like, or who went to the store on 19th and had a bad experience. Check out the store in Brentwood - it's fabulous, it's the real deal, you can ask for other Thai things that aren't on the menu, and you can be assured that you're getting the real deal - just don't order some americanized thing like Pad Thai and expect an international epiphani. If you want to make sure you're getting something authentic, ask specifically for something authentic, and ask for the correct spice level. Pros: Authentic Thai, properly prepared Cons: Inconsistent performance across stores more

Only good Thai in Nashville! 9/27/2008

This is the best Thai restaurant in Nashville that I have found. I have been to several and this is the only one that I would go back to. The Thai Iced Tea was great! I had the Thai Green Curry and it was perfect! This is the only Thai Restaurant in Nashville that I would recommend... Delicious! more

Don't Waste Your Time! 6/23/2008

This is the worst Thai restaurant, not only does their food basically taste like something you can make yourself but better and cheaper, but so does their customer service!!! Not only did my boyfriend and I have to wait atleast 15 minutes to be recognized as waiting for a table, then another 15 minutes to get a table...finally when sitting down we didn't see our waiter for the next 20 minutes. When he finally showed up we ordered our drinks and food and then we never saw him again. We waited for atleast 45 minutes for our food and drinks, we couldn't wait any longer so just got up and left before the order probably even made it to the people microwaving it in the back. While waiting you can look back towards the kitchen and see that the waiters/staff sitting in the back talking and watching TV. If you come here be sure to have lots of time on your hands, because you'll be waiting and wasting a lot of it here! Cons: Service, food, parking more

If you like pre-made, stale and microwaved pad thai, eat here! 3/10/2008

i feel gyped. the pad thai was reheated in a microwave and was the nastiest stuff i have ever attempted to eat. Pros: bad, bad, bad Cons: nothing good to say more

The worst Thai food EVER. Don't waste your time or money 3/10/2008

I could see how people like this place if they don't have any knowledge about food. These would be the same people that like Mcdonald's or Taco Bell. Royal Thai is awful. We had to send our plates back because they were dirty. There was a hair in my tea. The food was beyond awful and inedible. The bill was 40 dollars for soup and two entrees. This is the sort of place that give Nashville/Franklin a bad reputation in the food realm. Cons: Horrible food, dirty atmosphere, slow service more

Best Thai Food In Nashville 2/19/2007

I have been to almost all of the Royal Thai's in Nashville. I used to go to the one in cool springs, but now I moved out here to Hermitage and I am so gratuful that there is a place out here to get fresh asian dishes. The vegetables and meat as well as the herbs are always fresh and you can taste the difference. They also have an exceptional vegetarian menu. I know that one of the reviews said that they were asked to leave at 10:15, but if that is true, they must have come in less than five minutes before close and that is just rude. You should never enter a sit down restaraunt within 30 minutes of their closing time. Regardless, I have never had anything less than exceptional service at any of the Royal Thai restaraunts. The food is great and I recommend taking advantage of the diverse deliciousness that Royal Thai offers. more

It's a gamble 7/28/2006

We had Pad Thai here on several occasions. Half the time, the pad thai was very good. The other half the time, it was inedible. The last time we visited Royal Thai (this past week), we ordered the bean noodle salad, steamed dumplings, and pad thai. The salad looked half its normal size (I had had it before) and had more iceburg lettuce than anything else. The steamed dumplings were obviously microwaved and therefore difficult to chew. But the coup de grace was the pad thai. It was a big glop of microwaved mess. It also tasted overcooked and burnt. I asked the server when it was prepared and he had the audacity to say that it was freshly prepared. Needless to say, we did not eat that pad thai or order another one. The server--who had not been pleasant to begin with--never apologized and made us feel like we were committing a crime by refusing to eat that atrocity. I have worked at a restaurant before and make a point to never send something back unless the situation absolutely calls for it, and this situation begged for it. If this had been the first time we experienced bad food and service here, we might reconsider the place, but since it's not, we won't go back to Royal Thai again. Pros: decent food if you go on a "good" day Cons: most days seem to be bad more

Nice Little Thai place!! 1/1/2006

I recently moved here from California and am always on the lookout for authentic ethnic food. I'm was pleased to find a Thai restaurant so close to where I live. The price for dinner is a nice surprise. I love the white curry with wonderful coconut milk flavor!! The only downside I've found so far is that the acoustics make for a noisy meal. This is now one of my spots, being so close to home.-Aime Ryals Pros: good food, excellent value, friendly staff Cons: noisy, on the cold side more

Very little quantity and OK taste 12/5/2005

I tried take out dinner on a Tuesday night from here. Both their red curry & green curry tasted similar, other than the obvious difference in color, the green curry is marginally hotter than the red curry. But I was amazed at the fact that for $9.95 entrees there were literally 5 small pieces (about an inch long and half inch wide) of thin chicken strips in each. The rest were thin strips of bamboo shoots. Certainly, one of the worst places I had dinner (in terms of value). I will never have dinner there again. more

THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!! 8/24/2004

I had the absolute worst service ever this past Saturday night. To make a long story short, my dinner companion and I were approached by our server at 10:15pm to say they closed at 10pm and did we need a box to go? I replied we were about done. Well, 5 min later, at least 3 of the waitstaff and possibly even the owner/manager yelled ""Go Home! We want to go home!"" All servers want to go home when it's closing, but you don't vocalize that EVER to where the customers can hear you. DON'T GO IF YOU MIGHT RUN A LITTLE OVER CLOSING TIME! more

Maybe it was a bad day? 7/29/2002

I tried this place a few months ago. I was new to the area and terribly excited to see a Thai restaurant around. I started off with the spring rolls..not bad. I ordered the Pad Thai as my entree...BAD!! It tasted like someone got a little heavy handed with the fish sauce..for anyone who knows what fish sauce is, you know that it's not a good thing to have too much of. I left a little upset but I think I will give it another try. Maybe I will just stay away from the Pad Thai all together!! more
