Our curries were flavorful and delicious 7/30/2008

After all the rave about Royal India restaurant all over the web, I decided that I wanted to try this place out. I've been craving/crazy about Indian food for the past few months, but never got around to eating it. So today, my boyfriend and I decided to go eat at Royal India. \r He ordered the Lamb with Coconut Curry and I got this Chicken Mango Pineapple curry. Both of our curries were flavorful and delicious. We ordered the garlic naan which seemed like it came right out of the oven...warm and soft.\r Service was nice and quick and the ambiance is truly world class.\r I would definitely Royal India !!!! more

We had an excellent dinner at Royal India. We are not very daring when ordering, but the shrimp korma sounded to good to pass up. It was well worth it, I usually order the chicken tiki masala, but the korma is my new favorite. I would recommend Royal India to anyone, food here is authentic and very flavorful. Everyone in the restaurant is very friendly. Pros: Authentic!!! Cons: Parking? more

We had an excellent dinner at Royal India. We are not very daring when ordering, but the shrimp korma sounded to good to pass up. Amazing Experience 6/21/2008

Truly one of the better dining experiences in San Diego. You walk in to a beautiful dining and right away you realize your in for something amazing. Mango soup is among the better dishes I have ever eaten. Chicken Tikka Masala & the Lobster Masala were both astounding. The Garlic Nan was baked just right. Service was on point! Definitely would recommend to anyone! more

The service at Royal India is outstanding, the ambience is elegant and peaceful, and the food is heavenly. \r Royal India serve a great mango soup, a divine Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Kabuli nan kicks butt-- heck everything I've had there has been wonderful.\r I would definately recommend Royal India!! more

Perfect romantic restaurant in the Gaslamp 6/7/2008

My Girlfriend and I have been to Royal India restaurant 3 times in the last 4 months and are planning to go again this weekend for our anniversary. Royal India is the perfect romantic restaurant in the Gaslamp. Great bar- indoor and outdoor seating. The food is exquisite and service is top-notch. Great wine list. If there was something there that we would fault it would be the dessert menu; we have eaten most of the desserts and the only one I love is the Pistachio Ice Cream. more

My Absolute favorite Indian Restaurant in all of San Diego! 6/4/2008

The service is of the "A" class and if you are looking for a romantic destination with an intimate atmosphere for that special someone... Royal India is definitely your destination. I try a different items each time I've visited and have never been disappointed but only intrigued to continue my journey thought the most amazing combination of flavors any ethnic food group has ever delivered. more

This is a really nicely decorated restaurant right in the heart od the gaslamp district. The food is very mild but has a nice selection of alcoholic beverages. The prices are fairly expensive. more

Royal India stands above all others for my taste 5/1/2008

Being a big fan Indian food, I've been to quite a few Indian restaurants in San Diego including others in Hillcrest & Downtown, & have to say this one is probably the best one in San Diego. It's on market street and 4th in the gaslamp, but the food at Royal India is very flavorful and delicious. I heard making good curry takes lot of time and skill because it take lot of different spices to make good curry and Royal India stands above all others.\r \r It's near the convention center and horton plaza in down town and I would recommend to park in horton plaza ans walk from there to the market street.\r \r I highly recommend Royal India for a romantic dinner and sit next to the water fall. more

Having been recommended by a friend who wasn't really a foodie like I am, I happily tried Royal India restaurant in the gaslamp, let me tell you this: whether you've' have Indian or Thai food before or a 'haute cuisine' devotee, you will be utterly happy here. the restuarant has a sleek, chic look, but is easy and casual in demeanor. so you'll be fine whether you're dressed up or dressed down. but it's all about the food: delicious curry like chicken tikka masala or garlic kabab meats, the flavors in curry and marinations for kababs are perfectly done. i've been several times for lunch buffet and dinner and just keep trying different things as the mood takes me. i've recommended it to all my friends and we all agree; it's our 'currant' fav restaurant!
