I needed a haircut badly. I looked on citysearch and decided thats it!! I'm just going to make an appointment, since its so close to my house. I have been to a couple of other salons in long beach, which is a distance, but i never go back. They just dont do it for me! So anyways, i made an appointment for the following day. The stylists there are all so cute and trendy. My appointment was with Mandi. Okay, she is one of the cutest, genuine, and friendliest people you can ever meet. And to top it off, when she washes your hair, she gives the best scalp massages :) . I have never been to a salon that gives scalp massages. I forgot to mention, once i arrived they offerred me coffee since my appointment was in the morning. I informed Mandi, that i wanted to change up my image. i had enough of long hair. I was looking to do a shoulder length bob. She chopped off 13 inches of hair !!! My new do, was great. Plus, our conversations seemed so normal. It was as if i knew her for years. I left the salon looking like a million bucks. I even scheduled her a week later to do a change up on the color of my hair. Mandi is the best stylist that i ever had. She even gave me some samples on shampoo and conditioners since i was complaining to her that I have dry scalp. I can honestly say this will be my salon for many years to come. Mandi's great!!!!! Everyone at the salon is great, they make you feel comfortable and the vibe is great! It is a beautiful salon and they do a great job! Chemo gave me a beautiful color and highlights, they look really natural and he personalized what I wanted to fit me. I feel like they really love what they do and they really take their time with the customer and personalize their hairstyle. I will be a customer for life! I called the salon on a Friday at 9:30 am and got an appointment that same day for the afternoon. When I walked in the salon I was greeted by a friendly face and was offered something to drink. Kathy cut my hair and she was awesome! She listened to what I wanted and was willing to do something big even though not knowing me. But she knew what she was doing and gave me a great cut and color. \r Everyone working there seemed to be having a great time, so it just made the whole experience a comfortable one. I got my highlights done by Mandi. She did an excellent job. I usually have problems with other stylists leaving my hair looking raw and dull- but she knew exactly what i wanted and needed. I left with shiny, gorgeous hair and contiunally get complemented. Definatly give her a try! more

I went to Urban Roots with a friend and went back and got my hair cut with Vannesa, I usually go to the barber! I won't be going back to the barber! ASHLEY, my hair looks BEAUTIFUL - thanks to you!! My hair tends to get frizzy and usually looks blah. But, after the amazing color/highlights and cut by Ashley, I love my hair! The color is amazing and the products she used turned boring hair into something everyone notices. I went to a party two weeks after Ashley did my hair and one of the topics of conversation was how soft and shiney my hair looks. All the ladies were jealous! Ashley also sold me the right products for my hair and showed me how to do my hair so it has that ""just walked out of the salon look."" After the tragic loss of my long hair to a wanna be stylist, I needed serious help to get my new mullet replaced my something cute and sassy. I went to Kathy having an idea of what I wanted but without any real details. She listened, we experimented, and after she worked her magic, I ended up with a cute slightly angled bob with awesome highlights. Although it took longer than I expected the end result was worth the wait. While I was there everyone was friendly and helpful. Urban Roots is definitely a place I'll be coming back to. I was looking for a new salon and I found Urban Roots, WOW! Everyone is so friendly I felt like a regular my fisrt time. My (new) stylist is Vannesa and let me tell you, she so is amazing!!!! I wasn't sure what I wanted and she gave me some advice that I went with and now and I can't stop loving my hair! I get so many compliments. I'll be sending all my friends & family! I went to Urban Roots last weekend after my hair was badly damaged by another ""professional"" salon when I went for a hair relaxer. I was devastated, but the staff was very helpful and friendly. I had an emergency appointment with Seth who put extensions in my hair, and did a superb job!!! He is amazing!! After my experience at Urban Roots, I will never go to another salon. They are the best and met all of my expectations. I got my money's worth. I highly recommend this place to anybody who is trying to look for a place were there is professionalism and caring staff. Loved this place, staff very friendly. Place looks modern and very clean, and best shampoo I've ever had-would love to have that after a workday. My stylist was Chemo and I was very excited and thrilled with the cut he gave me! He asked me what I was thinking of and the results he gave me were more than I expected. Many compliments on my cut from friends and coworkers. Always asked my cunada duh to let me know when she sees him since her cuts by Chemo always look great on her! I decided to save money, bought a box of color and did it myself. BIG MISTAKE! My brownish red hair ended up Orange fuschia! My hair did not match the color on the box at all. Next morning I called Rosie for an emergency appointment. She fit me in the next day (her day off) and was kind when commenting on my color. Rosie and Ashley took excellent care of me and I walked out looking like a beauty queen. The price was great and I will never do my own hair again. L. I had been thinking of getting a ""bob"" for over a year, but I hadn't quite found a stylist who I felt confident knew what I was looking for, that is until I met Mary Anne. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and went from there. She is an experienced professional. As for the salon itself, it's very chic and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. more

Finally I found a salon that I loved starting from the welcome I received from the moment I walked in to the final look that I loved and went beyond what I had asked for. I had a stylist named Chemo who made great suggestions to what would look best on me. Though I loved my hair my main concern was how long it would last and how soon I would need to come back (which has been an issue many times before because my hair tends to grow quickly) I am happy to say that it has been over a month and a half and he was right that he knows how to make highlights and cut look good for a long time!
