Romano's Macaroni Grill

It was really busy and there were several Birthday dinners. The Italian dinners were excellent. There were 4 of us and we all thought the service was great too. The waitress was very pleasant and never rushed us. It was 2 of our parties Birthdays and they were served 2 luscious desserts without charge and 2 people with excellent voices sang Happy Birthday in Italian for them. It was a fun and delicious experience and we'd go there again. Also, it's very conveniently liocated right off of Highway 99. 41/2 stars more

The food was nasty and plates dirty, cooks were way backed up.. I would not recommend it to anyone not worth the money. more

Weds. 9-2-09 I ordered food to go from the Elk Grove Romanos Macaroni Grill. In one of the dishes was the business end of a nylon zip tie that sliced through my gums and cracked two molars and dislodged two crowns. Nice people but they sure should be more carefull. My crab stuffed mushrooms now have cost me $5,000 plus the fun of the dentist chair! Pros: zero Cons: garbage in food more

Monday, August 6th, I took my elderly mother and my daughter out to dinner to the Macaroni Grill in Elk Grove, CA. We all three ordered the same meal (Shrimp Portofino). I found an old cigarette butt, leaves, dirt and garbage in all three of our meals. I have launched a compaint with the County Health Dept and have also contacted and reported this to Macaroni Grill's corporate office. I received a call from the district office and was told that he had conducted an investigation at the restaurant and found that a batch of mushrooms had been dropped while they were delivered which is how the garbage got in our food. I personally do not believe this, the mushrooms were cooked in a sauce yet the garbage was not in the sauce but was mixed in the meal and the leaves and dirt was dry and brittle. I truly believe that this was done intentionally. Needless to say I will never eat at this restaurant and frankly, do not feel comfortable eating out at all at this point. The food is generally really good at the Macaroni grill. There's usually a long wait, so if you want to make reservations they require that you call in 1 hour ahead, otherwise you have to put your name in and wait. The last time I went, our server was horrible. Although he was timely and polite, it was as though no one ever trained him. We didn't get any small plates for our bread or appetizers so we had to eat it over the paper tablecloth. Every piece of silverware that he brought out to us was dirty, as though he was grabbing them from the dirty pile. My dad asked for a non-alcoholic beer, and instead our server brought him a low-carb beer. Our server wasn't a good listener and was really forgetful. I love everything about this restaurant. The food is always great, starting with the bread. There is usually a wait, but it is worth it. The furnishings are beautiful, good atmosphere, nice Italian music playing in the background. I haven't had a dish there yet that I didn't like. Pizza, Ravioli, lasagne, pasta, meats, sauces, desserts are all sooo good. If you love Italian food, you can't go wrong here. Pros: great food, good parking, nice atmospere more
