Best

Haven't had such good experience at Italian eating for a long time. Their remodeling adds more atmosphere. Pricing is good and the servers are attentive.

Worst

It's probably a good place to bring kids as everything is covered in sweet red sauce. When the daily special is spaghetti and meatballs, I wouldn't hold your breath for good auth...

Good food, good service 4/9/2012

Friendly staff, fast service and good food. I like the chicken marsala here paired with wine. The patio doesn't have a great view, but it's a nice place to eat on a sunny California day. The quality of food here is very good, especially any dish with chicken. I have come here for lunch a few times with co-workers. It is always a good time and service is great. The place is nicely decorated and is able to accommodate large groups. more

The Best Italian Food in OC! 6/25/2009

My wife and I love this place. We have eaten here for years. It has been owned by the same family for over 40 years. It is a great place to bring the kids or a date. Pros: Everything on the menu! more

fabulous!! 4/4/2009

delicious food, nice people, family owned.....eat the chicken marsala. The place has a really cute patio on the street in old town tustin....super cute!! The red and white checked tabled clothes are very precious. The place looks like my grammies house and that is why i like it. woot! Pros: food and service Cons: not a full bar..... more

Great Italian! 1/24/2009

So I have been to this restaurant three times now and the food was excellent every time. It came to my table so hot every time that I actually had to wait a little for it to cool down to eat it. Some items on the menu that I would recommend for first times would be there baked spaghetti (way better than spaghetti with sauce). The second time I to Roma D Italia I took my GF and her mother. My GF got the cheese ravoli which is not a dish I would order at an Italian restaurant(usually to plain and bland for me). She said I had to try it so I did and was pleasantly surprised, it was the best dish that had been ordered between the three of us that night. All in all great family service, a nice out door eating area with heaters for nice days and warm nights and outstanding food. Pros: Amazing food with family atmosphere. Cons: Service was slow last time. more

Correction to many of the things said by Lov4food 11/12/2008

The cheese is actually Romano cheese and it is freshly graded and not cheap by any means. Most of the desserts are homemade. The sauce is far from watery and the pasta is only AL dente upon request and it is never overcooked. I eat there almost every week and this place is absolutely amazing!!! more

Best Italian Food For The Price 2/22/2007

Even on a busy day you'll be seated rather promptly by freindly staff. This cozy little italian place has a secret that is becoming known. They are very very good at making Italian Food! Even then bread rolls that come warm from the oven are to die for. The pizza is just delicious and so are their appetizers. I normally will get their spinach tortellini. The presentation is not the greatest but don't judge by looks. The taste will have you coming back for more. The customers are friendly, the food is great, the price is good. Everything you need for a good night out for dinner. Pros: Freindly Staff, Good Food Cons: Parking May Be An Issue But Rare more

Very good food... a couple corrections to the reviewer below 12/22/2006

I've eaten here several times and the food has always been good. The pizza is excellent. They also have a couple of dishes I haven't seen anywhere else, like Pepperoni Bread and Chicken d'italia (chicken with ham, tomatoes, mushrooms baked in the oven). Be sure not to miss the Tiramisu... the best I've ever had. Certainly NOT store bought (Maybe the guy below was reviewing the wrong restaurant?) Pros: Authentic Italian food, very large menu, excellent pizza Cons: Parking, waits can be long on weekends more

The Worst Italian restaurant I have ever been to. 9/22/2006

This is the worse food I have ever eaten. They claim its Italian but no one that has had Italian food would believe it. There tomato sauce is so watery that the bread looks like a mop if you try and dip it in the sauce. They have no idea how to cook pasta. The word el dente is not in there vocabulary It comes out like glue. They charge you for chili flakes. The cheese they use is commercial grade Parmesan There desserts are not made there and they charge you an arm and leg for store bought desserts. more

Not at all autentic...don't expect a good Italian meal 9/2/2006

It's probably a good place to bring kids as everything is covered in sweet red sauce. When the daily special is spaghetti and meatballs, I wouldn't hold your breath for good authentic Italian food. Pros: Good for kids Cons: Not good for discerning diners more

Unique and delicious 8/15/2006

This was my first visit and I was not disappointed. I ordered the lasagna and was delighted in both the taste and texture. It was baked with a slightly crusty cheese topping. The taste was excellent. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough cheese inside. I had to ask for a refill on my iced tea and had to wait an excessive amount of time to have it delivered. The outdoor seating was relaxing and Old Town Tustin in like a step back in time. Overall I would say this is one of my favorite Italian places in Orange County. more

Top 5 Italian in the OC 7/23/2006

This isn't the best Italian in the OC, but it's rock solid. We tend to go early (5pm) to avoid the crowds. The place is full by the time we leave. Pros: Good food with good portions Cons: Wait time more

Slightly Above average 7/14/2006

After reading all the positive reviews on this site on Roma D, I might have walked in with too much expectation. The pizza was pretty good, better than most joints in the area, otherwise, the other items on the menu are just ok. When I went, there was a huge group of rowdy college students, so the ambience was not nice at all... but i could imagine it to be better in any other nights though. Worth a try. Pros: Pizza more

Great food, prices;good ambiance 4 date or family 5/24/2006

Been eating here for years (since 1990) and have never been let down. Great for a date or whatever. Good location in OLD downtown Tustin. Great choice of Eggplant dishes. Tustin is better than the other location. Ignore the often abrupt family member waitress, it's part of the atmoshpere. Here and Renata's in downtown orange are my favorites to date. Cons: parking more

Good food 3/13/2006

Great food and service ....best food in town and i also recommend peppino's restaurnt in Orange where you get a great food and a great ambiance along withthe great service...best two restaurants so far that i went to and will go back to... more

There IS great italian in OC. 1/11/2006

My husband and I moved here from Michigan. We had difficulty for nearly a year finding a good pizza...but comes along the Roma D of Laguna Hills. Get the ""Calabrese"" pizza w/ lots of garlic, basil and tomato... mmm! Its our favorite! Ambience reminds me of restaurants back east too. It does without the flair and hype of most OC chain restaurants. Excellent break from the norm. Try it! more

Italian Delight 7/12/2005

I have enjoyed Roma D Italia for over 30 years. As a spaghetti & meatball connoisseur I must get my fix at least twice a week. I recommend a pizza with your order as well. A great place for family dining or a night out with your spouse. Their sauce is so good you can't wait until the next time you visit. Pros: daily specials, good wine selection, Inexpensive Cons: Crowded more

Best Italian Food! 4/20/2005

I was complaining to my family about how I can't find good Italian in So-Cal (from Nor-Cal, used to San Francisco Italian), and they brought me here. Its not Mona Lisa in North Beach, but their cheese tortellini comes darn close. This is about the best Italian food you're going to get in So Cal for a decent price. The calamari 1/2 order is huge, so if you like calamari definately order that. This is also one of the few places that serves HOT bread! Good stuff. Pros: Staff, Wait Time, Great Food Cons: parking is limited more

Roma d'Italia 1/20/2005

This is a fabulous place in the quaint shopping area of Old Town Tustin. It's right off the i-5 freeway with terrific food and a nice outdoor patio. Family owned and operated, great pizza and Italian food. Highly recommended! Pros: Great food, Reasonably priced, Good staff more
