Roland J Down no longer responsive to customer needs 11/29/2011

I was a customer of RJD for the last ten years. Had them put in a furnace and central air for me and maintained them every year. I had always heard they were a bit expensive,but I felt they did good work and provided good service. I no longer believe that. I was purchasing a new house, one that also had a furnace that RJD had maintained for years. During the property inspection there was an issue noted and it was recommended the furnace be inspected. I called RJD and they said the homeowner would have to call to schedule an inspection. So the homeowner called, and was told that an inspection could be done...but not for close to a month. That doesnt work in real estate. So I found someone else to inspect the furnace. Tonight an RJD telemarketer called me and said it was time to schedule the winter maintenance. I said what address are you talking about and she said the old one, to which I replied I had moved. So then she tried to sell me an "inspection" on my furnace at my new house. I said I wanted one in October, you wouldnt help me then, why would I want to do business with you now? I guess when it fits into their program, they do inspections. But should a customer need one outside of their schedule, they are out of luck. That is not being responsive to their customers needs, and they have lost another customer. more

Roland J Down Service Experts have Terrible Service 8/8/2011

Called to get our AC repaired today - was thrilled when they said they could come between 4 and 6. Never had a problem with Roland J Down. Now that they are "service experts" however, the whole system works through a Florida based office and well....I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated by their "service." At 6 pm I called and got the automated system - press "2" if you are calling to check on your service call status - The update? I was next on the list and the dispatcher would call me right back to give me an estimated time. No return call. At 8 pm I called again. Still no info, lots of apologies, but the dispatcher would get right back to me. Getting hard to believe I was "next on the list." At 8:25 I called again. I asked for a supervisor. She said she managed to get hold of the technician, but said he would call me to give an ETA. She couldn't provide that information. (Did she really talk to him?) The info she did provide? The technician is overbooked, they have no idea if he is even close to my location or 30 minutes away. They could not offer any compensation or provide any insight as to why they would overbook and misrepresent the timely arrival of the technician. I canceled. We will not be using them again. There are plenty of other local options who have NOT gone to this mega-service and who actually care enough to inform their customers if there is a delay. more
