Editorial review from Citysearch 12/6/2012

Recently I adopted a dog from Unicoi Animal Shelter. In doing this the shelter gave me Robinson Animal Hosp. as a trusted vet to use. The day my dog was to be fixed, checked, and receive a micro chip was to be the first time I was able to spend time with him outside of the shelter for his home coming. Everything seemed to be going smoothly with his surgery. I was told to pick my dog up in the afternoon. I went to pick him up but before the vet would release him I was told I had to pay $72.00 additional to the $85.00 I paid at the shelter for his care. I just wanted my new buddy so I paid since the wait was turning into a all-day ordeal. After all, how long does it take to get my dog, his meds, and put a leash on him? My husband and I start out the door with him but before we made it to our truck Dr. Robinson came out of no where. I figured he had more to say about my dog's care after surgery. He started asking questions about where I kept my dog because of the bite marks on his ears from flies(which he got before being rescued by the shelter) and his weight (it was determined he had 2 kinds of worms). At this point my husband was turning red in the face and told the man we had just adopted him and this was his first time to go home. I have one bit of advise for Robinson Animal Hospital and that is WHEN YOU WANT TO TRY AND ACCUSE SOMEONE OF ANIMAL CRUELTY MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD REASON! Furthermore, when a person asks if their dog's ears will be alright don't be smart saying, ""The only way to fix his ear's is cosmetic surgery and we won't be going that route!:"" A simple ""no"" he isn't in pain would have been nice to know. My husband and I have never hurt any animal and never will. It is safe to say I will find another vet to take Winston to see. more

Loyal client burned by greed & mis-managment 2/8/2012

I have been taking our dogs to be groomed at Robinson's for several years. They are well-mannered senior golden retrievers who are rescues- we have them shaved down every 3 months. The last time my husband went to pick up our dogs post grooming, our bill was $300!! The bill has always been $150 for both dogs to be shaved (that's all- no special hair cut, no matted hair, no flea or skin treatment). My husband paid because the only staff member left said she didn't have the authority to make any adjustments to the bill. I called the next day & the new person that was hired in accounting said ""it HAS to be a mistake & she would be upset too"". She promised to call me back with a resolution. After a week, I called & left another message but no returned call. I finally went in person to the business office (next door to vet's office) & the accountant said she talked to Dr. Robinson & was told that the former groomer was fired for ""undercharging"" people & that $300 was the correct price. I felt that we should have been told about the new pricing when we scheduled the appointment so that we had the opportunity to decline to new pricing PRIOR to the grooming. I decided to try to talk to Dr. Robinson in person so I went back into the vets office. He wasn't in the office so I tried to talk to the other vet working- she empathized but said she was powerless to make decisions. I attempted to leave Dr. Robinson a message requesting a phone call but the new accountant told me that I needed to leave because I was ""harassing"" their employees (the lobby was empty & there were no other clients in the office. I explained I was simply leaving a message for Dr. Robinson but she insisted I leave immediately. Dr. Robinson never called me & obviously I cannot recommend his office anymore. I am baffled by this experience & am not sure how anyone can stay in business treating their loyal customers this way. more

What's your problem! 11/28/2011

Shame Shame, and Never again what is your problem . You can't go to your on Dr. unless you have insurance or some way to pay. You try and go to other vets and see how fast you get in. I don't think so. so everyone stop crying. . more

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON YOU!! 5/15/2010

MY LITTLE BOSTON TERRIER GOT PARVO AND MY WIFE TOOK HIM TO ROBINSONS. BEFORE THEY DID ANYTHING WE LET THEM KNOW WE DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY IT COSTED TO TREAT HIM AT THAT TIME BUT WE WOULD WORK OUT A PROMPT PAYMENT PLAN. THEY TREATED THE DOG AND WHEN WE WENT TO GET THE DOG THEY TOLD US IF WE DIDNT HAVE THE WHOLE 800 DOLLARS THEY WOULD ADOPT HIM OUT. MY POOR WIFE BEGGED THEM AND STARTED CRYING. I DONT SEE HOW ANYBODY COULD BE SO HEARTLESS. I WILL BADMOUTH YOUR PRACTICE EVERY CHANCE I GET AND I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY KNOWING HOW YOU TOOK OUR FAMILY MEMBER BECAUSE OF YOUR LUST FOR THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR! YOU DONT EVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ME BRINGING ANOTHER ANIMAL TO YOUR CLINIC Pros: THERE ISNT EVEN ONE Cons: THATS ALL THERE IS!! more

Never again 3/25/2010

I took my 2 cats to Dr Dotson to be seen for shots and whatever other problem they had. He seemed to be a good vet until my cat Pete got GI issues and I took him in to Dr Dotson for exam. Dr Dotson told me at that time that ""he had no idea what the matter with Pete was"" and he referred me to their other vet, Dr Robinson for exam. I told him why would I have to pay for TWO exams, when HE is SUPPOSED to be trained to diagnose common cat issues himself. I feel that he was trying to take me to the cleaners and decided it was time for me to look for a more trustworthy vet. He has many years of experience, so why should I have to pay for 2 vet appts with 2 different vets to diagnose a common ailment in my cat? I think he may have needed help with his yacht payment that month. I think it's a shame with all of the homeless cats and dogs in the world and low income people like myself that do the best they can to give cats love, a good home, and good care, that a vet will try to screw us. BTW : this happened 2 or 3 years ago, around 2006. I personally don't trust them and I won't be back. Pros: Were good for a couple years or so.... Cons: and then they I had a big problem more

Great Customer Service 2/27/2008

I would recommend that if you truely care about your pets you will take them to Robinson Animal Hospital. I feel as though they are more caring then other vets in the area. They have a great boarding area for pets, and the facility is kept very neat and clean. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and quite caring. I would say that they are a top choice for animal care, and pet needs. more

Not the best choice 11/20/2007

I have worked in a few animal hospitals over the years. I can say, with experience, that I would never take my pet to Robinson's. I will not go into anymore detail than that because there are a few doctors there I respect. If you are conserned about the well being of your pet, please take them somewhere else. more
