Best

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!

Worst

There wine list is impressive, but that's about it. Service was on par with the type of restaurant it is, but the food is to expensive for the quality they claim to have. Pros:...

Great Food, Excellent Service 3/3/2007

It was my first time at Roaring Fork and I had heard mixed reviews. My mind is made up, this is my new favorite place. From the time we entered the restaurant we were treated like good friends. The host was friendly and although we did not have a reservation we were seated right away. The food is amazing, the service was even better. Since it was our first visit Nicole guided us with our selections, everything was perfect. She even folded my napkin when I used the restroom!!! I highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Great, friendly service Cons: I wish I would have tried it out sooner more

Good-Not Great 1/31/2007

Good menu, interesting twists on traditional dishes. Prompt, effiecent service. Legislatures and lobbyists hang out here. Not a plus!\r Note to staff-unlock the door to the hotel entry and not make guest go outside and around the corner to get in. Not a friendly sign when staff seems annoyed at this prospect. Also, if you are a guest of the hotel, don't expect them recommend the resturant, not sure what this about. Pros: Good menu, good presentation-quality food Cons: Legislatures and Lobbyists here-NOT GOOD more

Perfect example of a wonderful Restaurant 1/26/2007

My brother and I went for a late lunch during the week, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. The food is excellent, and the portions are substantial - we had the smoked trout salad and the ""Big A** Burger"" - and both were delicious. We had a few glitches with our order, and our waiter was prompt in fixing the situation and the meal was perfect. Everyone said good-bye when we were leaving, and overall the experiene was very pleasant - I am very much looking forward to my next visit. Pros: Staff, food, environment - (just about everything) Cons: Maybe parking, but don't let that keep you away more

Added flavors not always found this good in Austin, Great Serving Staff 12/26/2006

Another great experience at Roaring Fork. Our server was attentive and offered suggestions on entrees. One of the pleasentries was the servers are conversational when discussing the menu and interested in the foods we would enjoy. There are a few ingredients which I avoid due to allergies. The server was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and confirmed with the chef before placing the order. My wife's tuna was cooked perfect with seasonings to enhance the taste buds. My steak was grilled better than any other restaurant in Austin. The place is always busy but there is no rush by the staff to hurry the meal. The atmosphere and people who eat here are enjoyable. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, All Pros Cons: Eating somewhere else more

Amazing Service! 11/12/2006

My husband and I came here for our anniversary and were not disappointed. There was a card waiting on our table from the staff of the restaurant wishing us a happy anniversary, which was a very sweet gesture. When our server came up to our table, she immediatley wished us a happy anniversary and seemed genuinely excited for us. We were able to enjoy some wonderful champagne in a quiet booth in the corner. Our meals were both fantastic and sumptuous. I had the grilled giant shrimp and my husband had the filet mignon topped with crab meat. What really completed a great evening was when our server brought out a rich chocolate lava brownie with a little candle in it. Everyone said thank you and goodbye as we left. We will definitely be back next year. Great night! Great service! Great food! Pros: Very attentive service, food more

Favorite Spot for Entertaining 11/8/2006

I recently brought some out of town work associates to The Roaring Fork. The staff was friendly and accomodating from the second we walked in the door. The work associates that I brought were from L.A. and they were extremely impressed with the wine list. Our server went over and above what was required and even had the valet bring our car around so we didn't have to wait outside in the rain. Even though the service and wine were great, the highlight was still the food. The chef really paired some interesting elements together to create a very enjoyable meal from start to finish. I will bring all my clients here in the future. more

Hugely appealing burger...no scallops please 10/27/2006

Take it for what it is, a chain and pretty standard upscale bar food. The ""big azz"" burger delivers in a big way. Drinks pretty good and reasonable - given the atmosphere. Never order the scallops. I have made better at home and they only give you about two. Just scallops on a plate. No garnish no veggies nothing - big disappointment. However I recommend taking a buddy during happy hour and just getting a burger. You won't be disappointed. Pros: BURGER BABY Cons: Scallops more

Way Overrated. AVOID 8/18/2006

After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to eating at Roaring Fork. We had an 8:00 reservation, weren't seated until 8:30, didn't get our appetizer until 9:15, no entrees until 10:00. It wasn't worth the three hour agony. If you're looking for a good place to eat downtown, there are plenty, but avoid this one. Service is atrocious and from other diner's reactions, it wasn't just our table having problems. Amazing they've stayed in business this long. Pros: Food has potential to be good Cons: Horrible service can't offset the best food in the world. more

Great restaurant 6/4/2006

I went here with my dad who had never been to Austin before. He now jokes that if anything he will return to eat at there again!! The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was very cool, calm, and relaxed. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Valet Parking Cons: Service not great more

a must visit 2/23/2006

I was told about this place by someone special, so I figured they wouldn't lead me wrong. The wine list was sufficient and the food was definitely above average. The best part of the night was by far the company I had. The service seemed to be lacking at times, but that didnt seem to be a problem considering I was only interested in one thing at the table. I would highly recommend this place if you want to have a night to remember of good wine, food, and of course about those sitting with you. Roaring Fork will be a great place to go back for any special occasion you might have after making the memories you do the first time... more

Roaring Fork Review 7/27/2005

Greeted by a ignorant hostess. Waiter seemed to be zombied out on another planet. Food was excellent, lots of good flavors. Food was delivered to table by other people other than waiter. Waiter was busy so manager ringed our check up. Calamari was very good. Pros: good flavor, nice sauces, good calamari Cons: bad parking, zombied out waiters, snobby hostesses more

Chef Krellenstein is the key 6/14/2005

I frequent the Roaring Fork as much as humanly possible. The drinks are always great and the food is incredible. Sure its a Robert Magrath restaruant but the key to its success is the Executive Chef, Brian Krellenstein, he adds his own personnal touch to every meal. He has developed an extensive menu of southwest cuisine that is bold and flavorful. Pros: night life, valet parking, service Cons: expensive more

Love it, Love it, Love it 5/27/2005

Lovely food, atmosphere & you definitely get what you pay for. Service has been slightly lacking, but not so bad that I would stop going, the food is too good! Whether it's appetizers, entrees or deserts, everything I've tried ROCKS! I've been for lunch a few times and dinner a few times and never been dissapointed with the food. Inventive, melt-in your mouth combinations!! Pros: wonderful food! Cons: parking more

Fantastic!!!! 5/5/2005

I am a regular at the Roaring Fork and will swear by the food there. The service has never been less than perfect and the servers are super friendly. Out of the many restaurants in the area, I definitely think that the Roaring Fork is without a dought the best. It is still a fairly new place and it will take a little while to catch on, but it will explode soon. You should at least keep an open mind and give it a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Pros: friendly staff, eclectic menu, affordable more

Never a bad meal 4/9/2005

I'm really sorry to hear so many negative reviews of the Roaring Fork. I have eaten there 6 or 7 times and never have had a bad experience or a bad meal. It is my second favorite Austin restaurant behind Vespaio. I hope that the roaring fork does something to improve their future reviews because I would hate to see people miss out on a great and unique meal. I recommend the Mexican Fondue, the Tuna Steak, and the Jalapeño Glazed Shrimp. more

Horrific Service 3/16/2005

Our waiter completely ignored us and was an absolute snob. He never once asked us how our food was and if we needed anything we had to literally flag him down- I'm talking arm raised and snapping and he still ignored us. He had other waiters bring out our food AND our check at the end of the meal. After dinner we complained to the manager and he did NOTHING- not even a free desert. Awful! If you go here go to the bar area- its cheaper and much more attentive. Pros: Drinks Cons: Service, Overpriced, Too Dark more

Great Bar Food 3/11/2005

I think the bar is better than the restaurant. They menu is smaller but the tables are, too, so it's a nice place to sit and be intimate. The lighting is great and the bartenders are really nice. Great food for a good price, considering how nice it is. more

NICE! 9/29/2004

Now this is a bar I highly recommend the after hour goers to seek. Not only do they have a great atmosphere, but their food is good too!!! It can get crowded after awhile, but it's a much more mature crowd that's appealing. more

there are better out there... 9/11/2004

I once enjoyed this bar, but it had gone down hill fast. Everytime I go in now, they have ""just run out of"" everything I seem to order. I just go upstairs now to the Stephen F. bar, they have their act together. more

bad service 7/31/2004

had a great experience at lunch, but was very disappointed when I returned for dinner. the lovely food was ruined by a snobby host and negligent waitstaff. we nearly had to beg for some bread, and the waiter seemed truly disinterested in whether or not we were satisfied. in short, we spent far too much for a rather inferior dining experience. Pros: elegant food more
