Riva Grill On the Lake

Wonderful Lake Tahoe restaurant. Good food and service with a great view of the lake and mountains. Sat immediatly for our reservation which was a large party. Nice but not stuffy. Love the steaks and the Wet Woody drink:) Pros: View, food, drink, service more

This place is absolutely awful. My family went here for a special occasion and this restaurant is poorly run. We came here because it was supposed to be a 4 star restaurant, we wanted to celebrate something special, and knew it was on the Lake and had a nice view. We knew it was going to be expensive. We did not know, however, our POORLY this restaurant was run. I do not understand how it has so many stars. The waiter was careless and rude. He did not put our order in and for 45 minutes. The waiter didn't even take drink orders. Everyone else was getting their food around us so we asked and he then resubmitted the food order in and we had to wait another 30 minutes. The food was burned, all the orders were wrong, and there were 4 pieces of hair found in various dishes. This was the most awful dining experience of my life. Do not go here, do not support this restaurant, do not waste your time. There is nothing good about this restaurant, they are a disgrace to the lake. Their made everyone sick. The hamburgers were overcooked along with the steak. The waiter never came around. What a waste of time. They made everyone feel awful and truly embarrassed us in front of our guests, we were so embarrassed to have taken them to eat at such an awful establishment. Protect your pride, protect your wallet, protect your stomach, and most of all I have written this to protect you from ever getting treated so awfully by their service. We even had reservations, they expected us to be there, and they still were not prepared. Do not eat here it's awful. Pros: There are none!! Went to Tahoe for a weekend vacation; had lunch on a Saturday afternoon at Riva Grill on the Lake. Drinks were good, menu was very limited for lunch, and service was pretty good. Overall, a nice relaxing place to view the water and have some good food. The bar area is much more casual than the dining area, but both rooms have a view of the lake. The only con is the limited lunch menu; there were maybe 10-15 items to choose from including appetizers and dessert. This is a good place but tends to be more flash than substance. The food is pretty good but nothing amazing and on the pricey side. The service is very spotty. It can be good (never great) but tends to be a little slow and inattentive. The best bet is to show up for an early or late lunch in the bar. The service is better and their bar food is as good as most. If you like alcoholic drinks try the ""Wet Woody"" - very good.\r \r The atmosphere is nice. There's a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe. You can feel comfortable in jeans or slightly dressed up. It's an OK place for kids if they can take a slower paced meal. Parking is fine most of the time. more

Had the House Special, which was the 20 oz Porterhouse. Crab/Lobster bisque was ok, certainly not the best I ever had. Service was excellent and a very nice establishment. Nice wine list with good variety. more
