Most amazing yoga studio 11/21/2009

The most amazing, dedicated and inspiring teachers. A place that will foster your growth physically and spiritually. The only yoga studio I've ever been to where there is such a sense of a loving community of people. Beautiful poetic yoga experience. Pros: teachers, community more

Greatest Yoga Studio In Los Angeles 11/20/2009

I've practiced in nearly every yoga studio across L.A. I've taught in a lot of them, too. And I can say with absolute certainty that Rising Lotus is the best studio I've ever been in. It's not the biggest, it's not the most expensive....but it is the highest quality experience. It will be your loving family if you want that, and it will support you quietly if you would rather keep to yourself. The owners, Daniel and Claire, lead by impeccible example, and their brilliant classes are not to be missed. I don't say this because I teach there. I teach there because I believe this. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

BEST YOGA IN THE VALLEY 4/21/2008

Rising Lotus Yoga is by far the best yoga studio in the valley. I was blown away by the attention they give to members and even new students. I learned something new everyday. I am a yoga teacher and have been to just about every yoga studio in town and I can say with complete assurance that Rising Lotus is worth the visit. Both Claire and Daniel's classes are a must! The instructors are spiritual without being too preachy; they are also extremely informative and helpful.; almost every student gets somekind of personal attention throughout the 90 minute practice. Rising Lotus is a great community of yogis!! Pros: instructors, community, cleaniness more

this is a great yoga studio 3/24/2008

i am new to L.A and this is the first yoga studio i found that i really like. the classes are good and challenging, all the instructors are great and the space is amazing (not to mention it is easy to find parking, etc). also, as a guy going there i don't feel out of place at all.\r the atmosphere is much nicer than going to a chain yoga studio like Yogaworks (which I consider the Macdonalds of Yoga). \r keep it up, Rising Lotus! more

LOVE IT 3/22/2008

I love going to this place. Even when i haven't had the opportunity to make class for a while and when I see no familiar faces, i feel like i am coming home. The classes are consistently challenging, and there is always a spiritual bent...something simple yet meaningful to reflect upon as we breath through the vinyasas. I leave feeling unclogged -- open and rejuvenated. Mission accomplished. Now if I could only get myself there more often! LOVE IT. Check it out for yourself! more

i love this place! 3/21/2008

rising lotus yoga has some of the best classes in the city! i live on the other side of the hill, but when my schedule permits, i make it a special treat to head over and take class there. i have taken yoga for 14 years and this place is great. parking is easy - $0.50 for two hours at the meter (love the valley!), they have some designated spaces behind the studio, and there is parking on some sidestreets. after class, you can stroll had have tea with a yoga friend at several neighborhood spots. it is a super yoga studio in a sweet little neighborhood block of sherman oaks. check it out. i highly recommend it. Pros: lovely studio, great teachers, nice students Cons: a bit far from where i live so i don't frequent as much as i would like more

Nice space, but that's about it 10/24/2007

I decided to try the new local studio and was amazed at how unfriendly and rude the staff was. I was standing by the front door (it was locked) when the receptionist walked up to unlock it. We were standing on the street, literally 2 feet apart, and she did not say a word to me. No ""Hello."" No ""Welcome"". We got inside and she ignored me again while I filled out the new student form, at which point she realized that I was new. Again, no welcoming words or information about anything I might need to know.\r \r OK. I can forgive. Maybe she had a bad day. Time for class!\r \r 3 people in class and the instructor did not ask anyone's name or inquire about injuries. I felt like I was an intruder, not a student. The other people in class were newer and a bit weak and the instructor offered little, if any, help when they could not get into the poses. \r \r I'm sure everyone at Rising Lotus has the best intentions. I would just hope that someone at a yoga studio would at least smile at me. more

Best Yoga on Earth 5/23/2007

Rising Lotus is a sanctuary from the world out there. Practicing yoga with 100% of your focus always brings you to yourself and unravels the physical and mental knots. All of the teachers I've met at RL are expert at feeling the ""mind"" of the class and guiding the group into a deeper focus. It's not a body shop at all. It's more of a soul kitchen. I always leave with new skin and a feeling like the sky is inside me. Claire and Daniel are the most unpretentious yogis who will make you laugh while you struggle on one leg and stop you from taking it all too seriously. Pros: vibe, location, instruction Cons: bathroom and changing room too tiny more

Best yoga anywhere 5/22/2007

I love these yoga classes. Profoundly spiritual with readings off Rumi & the Yoga Sutras along with deep & slow stretches. Some classes are slow some are fast paced. I liked all the ones i tried. To name the instructors i cherish- Claire, Ann, Daniel & Wayne.\r I highly recommend! \r peace\r dana more

Community and inspiration 5/22/2007

Rising Lotus Yoga is my favorite place to center myself, get into my heart and my body and feel a sense of community in Los Angeles. Founders Claire Hartley and Daniel Stewart make Rising Lotus yoga a conscious collective that is as inspiring as it is welcoming. It's my favorite place in Los Angeles. more

The best yoga on Ventura Blvd and in all of the Valley. 5/18/2007

This little gem of a studio has great flow classes, amazing teachers, friendly staff, great atmosphere and a cute little shop! I highly recommend Rising Lotus Yoga to beginners and advanced yogis! Pros: Best in the Valley more

Rising Lotus Yoga in Sherman Oaks! 11/14/2006

I just had the best experience at Rising Lotus!\r My back and shoulders have been killing me from moving heavy boxes.\r The instructor for the mix level class took the time to do restorative poses to release the tight muscles.\r She was very patient in showing alternate postures that would not stress my shoulders.\r The class was perfect balance of flow, strengthening, alignment and restorative movements.\r We used bolsters, blocks, straps and blankets to get into the most relaxing svasana pose ever!\r My back and shoulders do not hurt at all now!!!\r \r Pros: parking is easy, studio has a great feel, teachers are fantastic - lots of different styles more

Wonderful studio with talented instructors 11/5/2006

This unpretentious yoga studio offers some of the best guidance a yogi could ask for. All the instructors are fantastic here, but my faves are Claire and Daniel, who each offer a completely different vibe in their classes. \r \r Lots of parking available on nearby streets, btw, which is always handy. Some nice independent coffee shops and lunch places around there, too. Pros: Welcoming vibe, classes are just tough enough to strengthen your practice Cons: none I can think of more

Pros: best overall yoga expereince, friendly staff Cons: parking can be hard, give a few minutes to find a space more
