Best

Wow this place is awesome. They have really good food, a fun enviroment and the best margaritas in the world. A GREAT PLACE

Worst

I just want to clear up a few things about the ol' Rio Grande. They DO NOT use everclear in their margaritas. They use the same thing as everyone else. Tequila, triple sec, and...

Good margs, mediocre food at best 2/3/2010

This is the place to go if you want a margarita and want to chill at the bar with some friends, chips, and salsa. Ordering any other food I really can't recommend. It is all quite boring and tasteless. Some people joke that all mexican food is pretty much the same. Well, the Rio Grande sadly reinforces that notion; and not in a good way. Pros: Good social hangout Cons: So-so food more

No, to this Restaurant! 1/31/2010

I was there this saturday night with a couple of friends. We waited for almost 2 hours to even get seated. (was there at 7pm). Crazy! But finally left to go to another mexican restaurant. I dont know what your website is saying about good service and friendly people, but that is a lie. The service is very poor and the receptionist was very RUDE!!! This was the worst Mexican Restaurant I have ever been at. This place is packed and is a bunch of chaos! I wont be back! Pros: Nothing good to say about this Restaurant Cons: Poor Service, Rude Recptionist, wait time, atmosphere!!! more

So-so 1/28/2010

Food is alright at bestM pretty bland and boring. Margaritas are great though. They're pretty much the only reason I go there. more

Lets get some things straight here 6/22/2009

I just want to clear up a few things about the ol' Rio Grande. They DO NOT use everclear in their margaritas. They use the same thing as everyone else. Tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Second, they really aren't that good. Strong, Yes. Good, No. If you want something that actually tastes like a real margarita and not this sweet junk, then go for the agave martini! GOOD STUFF. The food is ok. It is quick and cheap tex-mex, but hey, you're drunk remember? Pros: Fort Collins very own Cons: Tex-Mex more

The Best Maggies and Salsa 1/17/2009

This is an incredibly popular place on Mountain Avenue in Old Fort Collins. On a summer evening, there will be a line out the door. The best thing about the Rio, is its a fun place to meet friends. They have the absolute best frozen Margaritas and an endless basket of chips and salsa. The salsa is seasoned heavily with Cilantro and for me, this is addictive. But after the salsa and a couple of Maggie's, the rest is down hill. This is tex mex food which to me all tastes the same. Beans and Rice and Corn wraps. Yuck. If you have to eat a meal here, have a couple margaritas first and you won't care what you eat. But when I eat there, I stick with the Shrimp scure which is grilled. It's tasty but is served with the rice and beans which usually goes uneaten. The steak fajitas are also edible. But hey, stick with the margaritas and salsa and then head out to one of Downtown Fort Collins' better eateries. Pros: Great Margaritas, Great Salsa, Great Fun Cons: Aweful food and service, Crowded and noisy more

are you kiddding me? 8/28/2008

I've been to Rio 3 times and hated every one of them! If you are hungry don't bother- I make better things drunk at 3 in the morning. It makes sense why they put everclear in their margs-you have to be wasted to not realize that the food, atmosphere and service are all horrible! p.s I have never known anyone that hasn't had a horrible hang over from here. Too bad they don't use that space for a truly enjoyable restaurant or club. Pros: ummmm-drawing a blank here Cons: everything more

Could be greatly improved on 8/6/2008

The margarita's are really the only thing going for this establishment and as was stated already, the food is average at best. The wait staff is well below average. Not much for kids menu. The long wait isn't really worth it if you?ve come to enjoy a good Mexican meal. If all you want to do is to tie a good on one then maybe it?s for you, but other than that I don't really care for it. Pros: Margaritas Cons: Service and food is below average more

Good margs, not so good food 1/1/2008

I agree with the previous reviewers...Though the margaritas are excellent, the only food that is very good are the chips and salsa. The rest of the food on the menu is either too oily or just plain not very good. The Rio shuts down for a siesta at about 2:00 and doesn't open again until dinner time which is odd to me. The wait for lunch or dinner is always at least 30-60 minutes long. If you love margaritas this is the place to go but don't expect too much with the food. Pros: Great margaritas and salsa Cons: Wait time for a table and food is so-so more

Good Food...AMAZING MARGARITAS 11/10/2007

Wow this place is awesome. They have really good food, a fun enviroment and the best margaritas in the world. A GREAT PLACE more

A place to get a buzz. 5/19/2005

The only food worth eating here is the queso and steak tacos, stay away from the rest! The margs are okay, they do get you drunk with a limit of three. The service SUCKS!!! I have never been treated so bad at a restaurant. This is not a place to take the family for dinner. The Rio is so loud, crouded, and full of rude, foul mouth drunks. Pros: Margs, Queso, Steak Tacos Cons: Service, Drunks, Food more

Go For The Margaritas And Salsa 6/17/2004

The Rio was packed on a Thursday evening as I recall it was for a lunch crowd 10 years ago. With wood floors and large rooms and a boisterous crowd it's noisy. But the margaritas and salsa are really good. One margarita probably equalled two or three at another place! The food was good but nothing too out of the ordinary. The torilla soup was very spicy. But food and drinks aside, the service was really awful. Our server served the wrong meal to my friend and instead of apologizing simply said ""I think this is better."". That's really not what you want to hear! Would I go back? Yea, but at least I'd know what to expect. Pros: Good Margaritas, Good Salsa, Fun Atmosphere Cons: , Noise Level, Crowded more

Overrated 2/11/2004

This is the most overrated restaraunt in Fort Collins. The food is mediocre at best and the Margarita's (good as they may be) do not make up for the poor quality Tex-Mex. It is certainly not worth the 40 minute wait that people regularly put up with. If you do go there, the salsa is good and the Marg's are good, but avoid the rest of the menu. more
