One of my favorite places in the city... the kimchi fried rice, monjyayaki and the omelets are really good. will keep going to try more of their menu Pros: great food/services...

izakaya 3/23/2006

there aren't very many authentic izakayas in the city but Riki is one of the better ones. Riki serves a huge selection of small dishes (cold and hot) at cheap prices in a casual setting. They also have a selection of grilled stuff on skewers. I would not recommend ordering the sushi/sashimi - not that special, you can get better ones elsewhere. you come to Riki for the small plates and skewers. more

Authentic Japanese izakaya (Japanese "beerhall") 4/1/2005

This place has pretty good food. The food is a bit different than your mainstream Japanese food you'd find in the States. I've heard it's what you'd find in Japan -- basically, people come here to drink and the food is what is typcially served with drinks in Japan. The food is a bit expensive but good. If you'd like to experience a bit of Japan in NYC, this is probably a good place as this place is full of expats. The one downside is that if you don't speak Japanese or come in with a white person, they may turn you away claiming that there are no tables but if you act like you don't understand what they are saying (since their English is so poor) they may end up letting you in. more
