This place is a joke 4/25/2009

These idiots claim to be a full service machine shop, The guy claimed to have built 8000 racing engines. He has had four attempts to build us an engine, none of them even made it through warm up laps. So after sending it back for the last time, I asked them not to fully assemble it, (i.e. no pan or heads and intake.), and we decided to just double check them this time. From appearances these guys have never built a 383 or 410 stroker motor. They had not properly clearanced the block. I could not get a 001."" feeler gauge between the lower rod and the block in full swing, the minimum you need is .050"" I would prefer .075"" or more. The pistons had not been fly cut to clear the combustion chambers on the heads. Very basic things in race engine building. I would not let them rebuild a 40 HP Briggs if my life depended on it. They do not have a clue what they are doing. Pros: AVOID THEM LIKE TYPHOID Cons: EVERYTHING more

I feel that I was ripped off by Richards Machine Shop 8/10/2008

I spent over $3000.00 on an engine rebuild at this shop and found out not only did they overcharge me on many parts, but also they did a really bad job on the engine rebuild. When I confronted the owner with the problem I am having with the engine now, it seemed he tried to turn the tables and make it look like something that I did to create the problem. The engine has almost no miles on it and sounds like something is broke inside and making a hard tapping noise. In the very beginning and in first talking with the owner of this shop he sounded like he would do a great job on the rebuild and I would have no problems afterwards, but if there are any he would take care of them; that is obviously not the case. I now need to look for someone who can fix whatever he did not do or broke inside during the build, since it now seems he does not do warranty work on his own work and seems to have blown it off, all this after I paid him in full. On a separate issue I thought it was odd he insisted that I pay for all the work done and for the parts in cash. Later someone mentioned to me that some people do this to keep from reporting it to the IRS through their business account, which I do not know for sure this is the case here. Either way I will never bring another engine to this shop again, this was a costly mistake for me.\r \r more

Machine what ? Poor service, poor quality, poor communication avoid at all costs 6/14/2007

I paid $1970 for a long block rebuild of a 2001 isuzu motor, ""Thats a complete rebuild of the engine."" That was in February of this year. When the engine was installed it sounded like a disel engine, it is a gas engine. I took it back to the shop, they had the vehilce for two weeks,,,,no change, I took it back to the shop again May the 2nd 2007, it was now burning a quart of oil a week and it still sounded like a disel. To date 5 weeks later the shop has told me every week they will have the engine done and it is not done. It has now been 5 solid weeks and still no vehicle. An engine should run smooth and quite when it has been completely rebuilt, and 7 weeks without your vehicle is unaceptable. I strongly recommned avoiding this business. P.S the first time it came out of the shop the air conditioning no longer worked on the vehicle. Cons: poor quality, poor service, poor communication, very slow. more
