Rice King Restaurant

We have had a horrible experience every time we order from this restaurant. The food is horrible but cheap. Everytime we get it I swear it will be the last time. But then I decide to try it again. Last night we ordered dinner at 645 pm. They told us it would take 1 hr to deliver to our house, however, it actually took 1hr 45 mins! I called and they said, ""The driver is on his way!"" We got our food 35 mins later and it was cold! Can you believe it? Cold! They cooked it when we ordered it and then took forever to deliver it! I couldnt even eat it! It was cold and stale. I called and demanded a refund. I was told a manager would call me back, which of course didnt happen! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! Instead try the Szechuan Restaurant on about 1300 east and 8600 South. Great food and great personal service!!!!\r Trust me, You will not be disappointed there!!! more

Non traditional service may be better. \r \r The food is honestly good. At lunch time you can get soup, soda, and your entrée for a total of $5.00. Portions are large and filling. I tend to get the lunch special number five; Shrimp chow mein. All lunch and dinner specials come with fried rice and an egg roll.\r \r The non traditional service is to come and sit where you choose. On my second visit the waitress already knew what soda I preferred. \r \r I frequent Rice King at least twice a month. I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant that I enjoy more, and you cannot beat the price. \r \r This restaurant is closed on Sundays so plan to go any other time. This place has the worst service of any restaurant I've ever been to. If they aren't forgetting your order, they're just so slow that you can't get in and get a takeout order in time to actually eat it during your lunch hour. They have two people doing the work of eight. more

My husband and I are big fans of this place and have been coming here for almost 3 years. Lunch is wonderfully priced. The sweet and sour soup is the best. Service is wonderful when it is slower. Very clean and friendly waitstaff. My favorite is the Sesame Chicken...although, the sauce has changed over time and so has the portion...but for lunch, it's still perfect! I am not a fan of chinese food at all. My in-laws were going to go to dinner and my husband wanted to se his family so we decided that we would go with them, even though neither of us enjoy chinese food. We went there and ordered the Lemon chicken with the sauce on the side so we could give our 9 month old daughter some chicken pieces without getting messy. They brought us our order quickly and as we ordered it. We love going there because it doesn't break our wallet, most times we can eat htere cheaper than at fast food places. My Wife and I had decided to try this restaurant after reading a rating on City Search and this is what we found. #1 Service, Very bad!! Some kid wrote down our order and kept coming back to ask what we ordered. He came over 5 times not once with a water refill. #2 Food, YUK my 12 year old cooks better Chinese at home. The Rice was bland and the only flavor in the Kung Po chicken was hot pepper. The Beef in garlic sauce was sweet and sour brown sauce. #3 Value, I have given money to a mugger more willingly than this Chinese Joint.. #4 Over All, Dont waste your money.. I stopped in on a whim, and saw the excellent price for lunch specials. I always try kung pao chicken to see if a place is worth revisiting, and Rice King passed with honors. I'm there at least once or twice a week, and I've never been disappointed. Pros: fast service, great prices, very tasty food more

I found this one on Citysearch and it's definately going on my ""A"" list. You can order both lunch combinations and lunch-sized entrees with white-rice which would be good for sharing. The Sesame Chicken had a really good texture and flavor and was cooked just right while the almond chicken had a nice garlic flavor in a light sauce which was different from the standard fare. I really enjoyed their fried rice which has a great smoky flavor. The hot and sour soup was good, not my favorite, but it was really spicy. Their egg drop was ok but not outstanding.
