Rey Azteca Mexican Restaurant

The food is authentic, tastes great, and is reasonably priced. We've been there numerous times, and the service has been excellent despite the huge volume of business they do. They have a fairly large menu with plenty of options to choose from. The sauce of the chips could be hotter, but then, my family likes it to be volcanic. I have a hard time any of their wait staff referred to anybody as "dude" since most of the staff speak broken English. more

Good: The frozen margarita, when I finally got it, was delicious and PERFECT! Had to wait a good 15 minutes for it - our food was out before my drink came. And, when it came it was the wrong drink. Not sure if that was an issue with the server or the bartender.. Bad: Service was slow. Food was mediocre at the very best. Crips were hard and seemed a little stale. Table was dirty when we were seated. Water glass had something green stuck to the inside. Hoping it was detergent and not something else. Yuck!. Improvements: MUST improve service if they expect to stay in business. Food quality should be improved. I ordered a dish that was supposed to come with rice and charro beans but was served with refried beans. Would have like to send them back for what was on the menu, but thought that it would take too long for the replacement to come out.. Other: We have been to the Chan location numerous times and have always liked it. Couldn't wait until Waconia opened. Have been twice and have been disappointed both times. The food is not nearly as good as in Chanhassen and the service is DEFINITELY better in Chanhassen. Next time we want Mexican food (which, as a Texan, is often), we'll probably go to Chanhassen or to another restaurant all together. Hope that Waconia location improves and is able to stay in business.. more

In response to Cindy's rant of how poor her service was, all I have to say is perhaps you came in with a snobby attitude and were therefore treated accordingly. You get what you deserve or rather earn. I personally would get a chuckle out of the wait staff saying "Sup Dudes" as he/she took my order. Maybe you would fit in better at Red stone with the rest of the stuck-up asses that live in this state. more

This is our favorite mexican joint. The food is good, service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The chips are free and the white chip sauce is the best! The lunch specials are great, with soda and tip, it's around $8! more

I would have to say this is the worst waitor service I have ever had. The waiter introduced himself by saying, "'Sup dudes." (and referred to us as "dudes" throughout the meal) When it came time to order, I actually had to flag him down as he walked away to ask him if he needed to know what kind of meat and side dish I wanted. There was no manager to mention our problem to, as all staff seemed to be equally amused by my waitor's immature attitude- and the customers behind us tried with no luck. My date's taco salad had a few shreds of lettuce with mostly meat and grease. more

We just love Azteca's food. Very authentic. Fresh, generous helpings and great price. You won't be disappointed. You can order ahead for take out, but I would recommend \eating in and try the margarita's! more

This food really taste like it is fresh and how mexican is suposse to taste. Great flavor and great portions. Its a family favorite!! more
