I should never have let them in my house. The first salesman that came out was disorganized and seemed to be making things up - we did not sign anything then. The office called repeatedly telling us they had updated their price, asking to come out and deliver the new price. I asked for the new price over the phone, but they said it had to be delivered in person by a sales manager. I finally said that if they *really just had to come out and hand me a piece of paper* that was fine, but I was very busy that day and did not have time to talk to anyone. When the new salesman came out, he had no idea what the price would be, nor what information the last guy had given us, and did all new measurements. After I showed him the quote from the last guy, he came up with a slightly better price but would not write it down (for us to compare with other contractors) unless we signed a ""no-obligation"" (his words) sales agreement. We made very clear that we would have to work out independent financing before we could set up an installation date or anything else. His words - he had ""no interest"" in signing a final work order if we couldn't afford the windows. We had no more contact with them after that day.
Some weeks later installers showed up to do a ""final measurement."" I made clear to them we had never set up an installation date and, as far as we knew, had never signed a contract. I called the main office to tell them we could not afford the windows, and did not want to have any more installers coming to the house. No response came from anyone. I called the salesman to tell him the same, he told us there was no way to call off the order now. I eventually got hold of the owner, who also said there was no way to cancel the contract - as I reiterated the salesman's assurances, he became increasingly rude and hostile.
THE GOOD NEWS: I was able to prove that the document I had foolishly signed did not conform to either national or state regulations regarding contract agreements (this of course took hours of research and compilation of documents). I called repeatedly to try and discuss this, but no one ever answered my calls. I sent all the documentation via registered mail, which they never accepted. I left final messages asserting that I would not allow anyone into my house for installation, that the contract was unenforceable, and they would never receive payment from me based on these facts. No one ever called back to address this. I have kept a record of the letters I sent them and the legal documents I pulled together in case they do ever contact me again. I am sorry this experience has made me distrustful of other contractors I have spoken with, as I know most of them are probably trustworthy and respectable. This company was neither for me.
Pros: Their contract was illegal and unenforceable
Cons: Dishonest, pushy, disorganized, rude, unresponsive
