When my computer died, I was completely at a loss. My computer knowledge is limited to software -- what happens inside the magic black box is a mystery to me. I had also heard horror stories from people who had used other, nationally-known companies about poor service and the length of time it took for those companies to resolve issues. I am dependent on my computer and get frustrated when it doesn't work right. It was acting up so I decided to bite the bullet and get help. I emailed Rent A Geek LA based on online reviews. They called right away to set up an appointment. Their computer consultant Jacob came and worked on my computer. He was knowledgeable, fast and took time to explain things. Rather than working on my computer, collecting his fee and disappearing, he made sure that I was satisfied and not experiencing any problems. When I experienced further problems, he was accessible and went the extra mile to make things convenient by picking up my computer at my office. When I called with connection problems in the evening he patiently explained how to resolve things. I am impressed with the high level of customer service I received. A lifesaver for the luddite designer 9/30/2008

I'm highly dependent on technology, but absolutely clueless about how to fix it. I work from home on my G5 iMac, which is about three years old but still a steady machine. Until she started randomly shutting off, and turning back on. Something out of a horror film I tell you. And the most horrifying thing was that I was utterly helpless. I like Rent-A-Geek. Knowledgeable, personable, prompt, reasonable prices. i called them up, saw them later that day. The techie who helped me was easy to talk to, explained what he was doing every step of the way, and the ""why"" behind his thinking. And the price was less than I expected. How do you beat that? more

Class act and great professional service 8/13/2008

This service works and works well. The owner (who serviced us himself when a technician was not available at the last moment) is committed to fixiing the problem , explaining the problem, and folowing up to be sure that his customers are satisfied. He quickly figured out what was going wrong and corrected it. He also did some fine tuning to our notebook computer. He arrived exactly on time and made sure that all our questions were answered before leaving. This is a great service that we will use again - if anything else goes wrong with our computer - or its virus protection. Pros: Great service/ professional operation more

Best Website/Computer Assistance 8/8/2008

In the entertainment business they say out of ""fast, cheap, and good"" you can only ever get two out of three. Rent-A-Geek was all three. Well, relatively inexpensive, but a great value for smaller companies like ours to be able to tap into major league expertise with excellent client relations for a very reasonable price. Our web issues were solved with an absolute minimum of folderol and a maximum of skill and insight. Ben solved our problems quickly and efficiently. Out of 5 stars I give Rent-A-Geek a 10. more

I've used Rent a Geek a few times now and have been very pleased each time with the service they have provided me. They are very accommodating with times and very personable. They took extra time, without being paid, to explain to me why my computer was misbehaving and how I can go about fixing it myself in the future. I've recommended them to several of my friends and co-workers and everyone has had a good experience with them. more

Rent-a-Geek LA's Ben Sigman is one of the most knowledgeable computer aides I've ever worked with. Friendly, too! Makes repairs, additions to software, designs and tech repairs with astonishing speed. His hands are a blur, but he also makes understanding what he's doing simple enough for non-geeks. A real find!! more

Best service ever!!! I had no idea how to transfer all my data from my old computer to my new one especially since the old one wasn't turning on but I called Rent a Geek and all my frustrations were over (I am not a computer person)...for anyone who is experiencing computer frustrations they should definitely call and rid themselves of the headache!!! more

I was referred to Rent A Geek by my friend and I was very pleased with the prompt overnight service to upgrade and repair my laptop. They provided pick up and delivery at a very reasonable cost. We thought we lost several years worth of important information when our old, crusty Mac laptop quit completely. Despite what seemed like an impossible-to-fix loss, within a day everything from the damaged computer had been saved and restored to a new computer. These guys at rent-a-geek are extremely concerned with you being completely satisfied with their work. I needed some help setting up a data backup and restore system for my business and I didn't really know what to do. They created and implemented a great system for us and took the time to really explain it clearly so even I could understand what was going on. more

Excellent Computer Repair 5/1/2008

I would recommend using Rent-A-Geek because their experience gave me quick results. I know nothing about computers and left it up to them to solve my existing problems, configure everything in my system to avoid future problems and then showed me how to use the various features. He saved all of my files!!!! 4/30/2008

About 2 months ago my laptop stopped working and would not boot up. I took it to a place where I had always gone for my computer needs and repairs, and also to Best Buy's geek squad. After been told that there was no way I would ever see my files again, I went online and since I had already dropped about 60 dollars with no results I tried the economical ""Rent a Geek service"" (Also he guaranteed not to charge me any money if he couldn?t help me). I must say that I did not think I would ever be able to access my documents and pictures again, but after he worked on my hard drive for a couple of days I got a couple of CDs with all of my files backed up in them. I don't know and don't really care how he did it, I just know he did. I wish I could rent this Geek every time I turn a computer on because he's very knowledgeable, and to my amazement even has good social/personal skills. I obviously recommend this service to anyone with any computer needs, and just as a tip to you all I paid less than half of what I was willing to pay. This dude even sort of looks like a geek, he?s great! more

My business consulting firm is fairly small and none of us know a thing about computers. We are not big enough to have our own IT department, but still we are a busy company and run into our share of computer problems. For a company our size, Rent-a-geek works perfectly. They are accessible, always return our calls, and the price is right. I highly recommend them to anyone, especially small/ medium sized businesses. more
