Best

The wait staff at Regalitos is the best anywhere. They keep you supplied with Sangria. We had a waitress named Jade who was just adorable and charming.

Delicious and Delightful 9/4/2008

It's a special treat to enjoy delicious food and impecible service WITH your two young children. The gorgeous waitress at Regalito's was charming and patient with my two little ones. The food was superb. I can't get enough of that mole! more

best Mexican in San Francisco 9/4/2008

\r What's not to like about Regalito-the service? no that's very good. The food, no, it's delicious and authentic. The decor, wrong again, it's very cool and inviting. It's great to go to a Restaurant with passion and commitment to great food I reccomend the chicken mole and the grilled corn--they are the BEST., but don't forget to start with the guacamole and end with the fried mango and ice cream!!! more

After a 30 minute wit, we had high expectations, but we were disappointed by the service, portion size,\r as well as the prices for the small portions. In the heart of the Mission, this restaurant cannot compete\r with the Mexican restaurants that are located here. \r \r Pros: Ambience Cons: Portion size for the $$ more

Overpriced home cooked meal 4/24/2008

I was not very jazzed about the meal I got here. This place was nothing special and to be frank, it felt like I paid for a meal I could have cooked at home myself. There seems to be a lot of people here all the time so maybe it was just me. Not sure if I will ever be back. more

Fresh, fun, fast & affordable! 6/17/2007

We went to Regalito for dinner after looking all over SF for a sit-down (not burrito joint) Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere was the first thing to impress us - giving off a vibe of both warm and fresh. The food to follow intensified that first impression. The food came out quickly on a plate with no fuss. The portions were just right and quite a deal for the price. We were actually surprised that the entree prices included rice and beans. Everything was just right - not too heavy or overpowering but full of flavor. We loved the carnitas, the carne asada, and the flan. We've since been back 3 or 4 times and everything has been consistently tasty. We actually went for brunch today and the chilaquiles were amazing! I think Regalito is the right combination of an affordable, yet delicious, neighborhood spot - a perfect addition to SF! Pros: Atmosphere, food, service Cons: Can get busy since it's small, so go early more

Better than the rest! 5/3/2007

I've been to Regalito's twice now and both times have been excellent. The food is unpretentious and tasty with excellent portions. I've had the mole and enchiladas verdes as well as their guacamole and they were all VERY good. The margaritas are different since they have agave wine instead of tequila, but they are REALLY delicious. To top it off, the service is terrific-- I can't even begin tell you how nice the servers have been even during their busy times. Last night my boyfriend and I tried to go to another Mexican restaurant closer to our house, and the service made us leave and never want to go back. So we went to Regalito's and were welcomed by two amazing servers who were personable and efficient and made our dinner fun and enjoyable. Pros: Chicken, Agave wine margaritas, SERVICE! Cons: It's a little small, so not many tables, but the counter is just as fun! more

A great addition to the Mission 1/2/2007

I tried out this new restaurant in my neighborhood last week. First off I'm glad to see it opened - it's a very nice little spot. It kind of reminded me of limon back in it's early days..\r \r The interior is lovely - very warm and chic looking - not at all what I'd expect from a mexican restaurant (not meant to offend..), service was great by a lovely waitress and even the owner came down to check on us once.\r \r The sala and chips were delicious and incredibly fresh. Main courses were good, but not as great as I expected - we tried the chicken and the beef and while very nice I just thought they were alittle bland. Maybe a little more spices? \r \r The only gripe was the wine. The wine prices/value seemed a little out of whack compared to the food. We paid $7.50 a glass each and it looked very small..\r \r All in all a great spot and great value for money overall.. I'll be going back.. Kudos to the owner you've done a nice job and I wish you success! Pros: Service, interior, value, food Cons: wine price more

Mexican 12/6/2006

This place is wonderful. The chicken is awesome, the empanadas are to die for and the list goes on and on. Having lived in Mexico, the food served at Regalito Rosticeria is authentic and fresh, just like it should be. The decor is fabolous. Overall - a delightful experience!! This place is destined for greatness and I can't wait to go back.\r \r Pros: Decor and good food more

My favorite new spot! 11/28/2006

I was recently in San Francisco visiting a friend and we went to this new place in the Mission. The food was GREAT for such cheap prices... it will exceed your expectations. The environment is also great for dinner out with a few friends or even a date. The decor of the restaurant is classy without being stiff or boring. We enjoyed our meal, the service was great, and we can't wait to go back for more. You can also order take out! more

Mission: Delicious (by visiting NYer) 11/28/2006

Flew into SF for Thanksgiving and ate here over the weekend. Had Chips & Guac, Pollo taquitos, Carne asada, green beans - all delicious. Saw some chicken go by the smelled good. Everything was VERY fresh. Clean lines in the decor - very light wood & glass, color on the walls - this place will appeal to those with subscriptions to Dwell and accounts at West Elm. V v different than the other places we walked by (bright lights, cheesy decor). Waiters were cute & young, owner friendly long time Mission resident, small tables, counter/bar. Could see this place rubbing shoulders with classy bars in TriBeCa or SoHo in NYC. Pros: rare gem, food, nice decor, subtle but excellent wait staff Cons: no hard alky more

Finally: Excellent Mexican Food in the Mission 11/26/2006

As a three-year resident of the Mission, I've been searching for the following magic restaurant combo: flavorful Mexican food made with healthy ingredients (meaning no nap required immediately following lunch or dinner), an appealing atmosphere (meaning no florescent lights to draw attention to tired eyes at the end of a long day), affordable prices (meaning I can become a regular), and a menu which broadens the definition of Mexican food (meaning Tex Mex ain't Mexican). \r \r I'm happy to report that my quest is now successful! Regalito sets itself apart from any other Mexican food spot, in the MIssion and beyond. Our waiter shared the restaurant philosophy after our meal - free range chickens &organic ingredients. Everything prepared fresh in a kitchen that about 10 customers can admire from counter seating. The atmosphere is intimate, welcoming, modern, sophisticated and playful all at the same time.\r \r I've been three times. The rotisserie chicken seems to be their signature dish - perfect for folks hanging on to Atkin's diets or seeking out high protein meals. My niece ordered the steak. Since she's five, I ate much of it, and it was delicious. The chicken enchiladas are very tasty - I especially love the red sauce. Haven't tried the pork leg, but it's on the list for next time. My favorite item on the menu may be the guacamole. They make it with high guacamole integrity: no ""stretching"" of the avocado with mayo or some other unnatural substance. It is avocado ""straight up"" with tomato, onion, touch of green pepper, salt and spices. Perfect. The lemonade is awesome - very tart. I think they got their license to sell beer and wine, so now you can enjoy the healthy food and ambiance with sangria or a cold beer. \r \r One word of caution - the largest table they can seat seems to be about 6 people, with 4 ideal, so keep your dinner party small. Small is the new big after all. Or, you can get take-out. They seem to be set up to make take-out quick and easy. Enjoy! Pros: Quality of Food, Ambiance, Price more

Delicious and Fresh 11/25/2006

Upscale Mexican food and decor without the upscale prices! The ingredients are fresh and the food is delightfully tasty....like nothing else in the Mission. The roasted chicken is so good, I went back a few nights later for carry out, bringing a whole chicken home for dinner, complete with sides like refried beans that aren't loaded with lard like many other places. The potatoes are worth ordering seconds. They also serve a great brunch menu. Pros: Ambience, Food, Service more

Amazing eats at AMAZING Prices 11/16/2006

This place has really got it going on! I have never been anyplace in the Mission as nice as Regalito with such great prices. The decor was obiviously well thought out and the atmosphere is awesome...and I still managed to get out of there without paying an arm and a leg for good food. There are so many great restaurantes in the Mission, but none quite like this. Regalito has really taken true traditional Mexican food to a whole other level. I can't wait to go again and again. Pros: Great prices, great ambience, and great food Cons: NONE! more
