Redhook 2/5/2010

Went here w. my husband. We took the brewery tour which is a steal at only $1 AND you get almost 3pints of beer during the tour AND a free glass. Our tour guide was hilarious. We had lunch afterwards. The menu wasnt the best. And I really didnt enjoy my food. It took the waitress awhile to even see we needed refills but I noticed that she was working the entire restaurant pretty much alone. The store is fairly inexpensive too. It was fun but I would definately only go on the tour if you're in the mood for a younger crowd getting tipsy and yelling random things out. Still it was worth the $1!@ Pros: Funny tour guides more

Eat the nachos! 12/31/2007

I went to this restaurant with my family and they go there quite a bit. We were seated right away with a group of 6 at 6:30 or so, which is a rarity these days. Service was great and our drinks were always refilled right on cue. There was music playing but it wasn't overpowering and the dining room is spread out enough that you don't have to worry about hitting anyone's chair or overhearing conversations. \r \r I had the french dip sandwich, which was tasty BUT my sister had the half-size forecaster nachos. Let me tell you, the half-size is enough nachos for at least three or four people and they are beyond tasty. I am thinking about going back just for those alone! Pros: Easily accessible, parking, NACHOS more

Great for groups of people 9/18/2007

I have been to RedHook so many times, I have almost the whole collection of sample glass colors. Why do I keep coming back? The staff at the brewery all love what they do and it is contagious. Even if you are not a fan of the brew you will leave with a greater appreciation for the process and care that they put into what they create at RedHook. Above all, I highly recommend taking the tour. If you have time during the off hours (ie. middle of the day during the week) take the tour then because it is so much more fun with a smaller group. Afterwards, please take some time to stop for their giant nachos piled high with toppings (you'll need a friend or two to help if you get a full order) and be sure to finish the experience off with a porter float (AKA Bryan's Black Bovine). more

Tour and restaurant 8/2/2007

Take the tour! It?s a lot of fun, one dollar and they give you a bunch of much beer. It?s about an hour, the guides are usually funny dudes that give you the history of Red Hook and the basic process about how beer is made. Do it, it?s really a lot of fun to do with friends and even better the more you drink!\r \r The restaurant is fine, pretty ordinary stuff, but of course the beer is great ? so just get some beers and something to munch.\r Pros: Best tour in town Cons: It's not in Ballard any more. more

Beautiful atmosphere outdoor seating 6/1/2007

My boyfriend and I made the trip here from Seattle the other day and it was definitely worth it! We were promptly seated outdoors. The burgers were good. The atmosphere really made it. The beer is amazing and at a great price too! We will definitely be coming here again. Pros: Service, atmosphere, great beer at a great price Cons: Food is good, but not over the top good more

Great beer, good time 11/6/2006

So I stopped by Redhook with a group of friends the other week on a Saturday night and had a great time. I hadn't been by in awhile but I must say some big improvements have taken place....Thankfully, they now have a group of hostesses greeting you when you walk in...It was crowded and there was a wait but we were able to grab a pint at the bar before we were seated.about a 20 min wait. Also to my surprise we found some new options on the menuthe waitress told us they had a new chef, and I must say the beef sandwich I had was tastyour waitress was busy but friendly. The beer was great and still a good deal at $3.50 We ended up sticking around for the band, did some dancing, warmed up by the fireplace and enjoyed the low key environment. We left pleased, one of the better Redhook experiences for sure Pros: Great beer, try the cask conditioned, good music Cons: no night tours more

Worst service I've ever encountered 2/17/2006

Went to Red Hook Brewery last night and I could not believe the service or lack thereof. We all showed up at 6:30 and requested a table for 10 people. They said it would be 45 minutes, which is fine. I don't mind a long wait on a Friday night for a large group of people. That is acceptable. So all of us hung out in the bar area and had a few beers. Well, 8:30 rolls around and we still do not have a table. This was after several of us asking about our table after an hour and a half of waiting. They never did get us our table so we left. I'll never go back there again. I also closed out my tab and left no tip and wrote on the receipt, ""Next time seat us within 2 hours and you'll get a tip."" Pros: Hot waitresses Cons: Expensive beer, no service, literally, no service more

Lost some of it's charm... 2/10/2006

A couple of years ago the atmosphere was MUCH more relaxed, the service was better, and the food...well, the food was still mediocre at best. For some reason the Woodinville Redhook Brewpub decided that they would not offer anything fried. They have no fryer. What kind of place that specializes in BEER doesn't serve some kind of fried food to go with it? The menu is awful. The beer is good. The atmosphere is still okay, but it was better before they tried to turn a BREWPUB into a trendy family restaurant. You won't save money when you go either; the pitchers are still around $12 or so, even for the most common of their beers. If you do go, go when the band is playing, or a nice summer day on the patio is nice as well. (thankfully, they DO serve chips and salsa which compliments their beers well) Pros: Great Beer, Beautiful Setting, Patio Cons: Poor Menu/Service, Trendy/Expensive, Crowded more

Party of two? 6/26/2003

Redhook has great beer and great food. If you can find a place to sit to enjoy it. Seats tend to be reserved for parties that may or may not show up in the next two hours. And you might as well not even try to sit outside during nice weather - you may end up in a brawl with another group who was waiting for a table to open up. Try sitting inside (if you don't mind frostbite from the air conditioning). Pros: Excellent Food, Great tours, mmm..... beer... Cons: Poor Seating, Service (sometimes) more

brewery with good food 5/12/2003

finally expanded the menu - great for everyone in family. good food - great comfort food. good appetizers. inside is bustling. outside dining is wonderful in good weather. on bike trail, popular with families as well as gen x. great beers. In summer have outdoor movies on Thursdays - great event - cheap and fun. Pros: food, beer, prices Cons: can be noisy more

Take the Tour! 1/17/2003

If you live anywhere near the Redhook Brewery you have to take the tour! The tour costs $1.00 and the price includes a 3oz tasting glass you get to keep. If you're too cheap for that, and you drink Redhook, just look on a 6 or 12-pack box. There is usually a coupon for two free tours. Now the good part, during the tour you can drink as much as you want. They have 4 different types of their beer on tap, usually ESB, then a mixture of 3 seasonals. They have tours everyday, but more frequent in the summer. Check their website. Its definitely worth the money. Oh yeah, did I mention that you do actually go on a tour of the brewery too. Pros: Inexpensive Tour! more

A place to go every now-and-then 7/12/2002

I probably go here every other month or so... more often in the summer when their large patio is open. The beer is good, the food is ok and their menu changes seasonally. Live music and dancing on the weekends, but they don't take reservation, so if you come with a big group (more than 4) it will be tough to find a table. more

  • The Experience
Built on a sprawling Woodinville estate, the Redhook Brewery is enchantingly perfect with all aspects intricately planned. Hops grow on wooden trellises surrounding the beer garden. The tour area, though not extensive, was designed with a presentation in mind. The 40 minute experience begins in a spacious room with tables for setting tasting glasses down between fills as the guide relays the brewery's story, with the occasional Ballard joke (where Redhook began). After the brewery's history and an explanation of the distribution process, you'll move into another area to gaze at the large stainless steel fermentation vats, where alcohol is produced, before ending the tour with a peek at the bottling machinery.

    The Background
Redhook Ale sold its first pint of beer in Seattle on August 11, 1982. To cope with increasing demand, the company opened the Woodinville brewery and pub in 1994.
