I am the owner and doctor at Red Bluff Animal Hospital and I am sorry we didn't exceed your expectations Shoreline887. Your experience is the exception, not the norm You can check out more reviews by searching yahoo local. In fact, it was a client who disagreed with it so she brought this too my attention when they were looking for our web site.
As an explanation, and not an excuse, my other doctor was on vacation the first 2 weeks of June so I was by myself. Also, a technician, who was expected to come back after having a baby, chose to stay at home and I have another technician on vacation. To top it all off, I have had a severe outbreak of Parvo in this area and these patients require a lot of time. That being said, you did admit that you did not have to wait long to be seen.
We schedule routine health exams and vaccinations for 15 minutes. If your animal is sick, we schedule 30 minutes or even 45 minutes. If your pet requires more time, then we will make arrangements for you to drop off your pet so we can give them the time they require.
You said we are always crowded but have you ever wondered why? There must be a reason they keep coming back and obviously we failed to show you what that reason is.
We are constantly trying to improve. Where you greeted immediately upon arrival? Where you escorted into the exam room promptly? Did the technician pet your dog/cat before asking you a history? Did they draw blood and run any tests prior to getting the doctor? Did the doctor acknowledge your dog/cat and pet them. Did he seem genuinely interested in your pet? Did he ask you if there were any issues that needed to be addressed. Did he explain what he was looking at, ie. Ears look irritated, teeth appear healthy, Lymph nodes within normal range, etc. Did the doctor tell you what to expect after the vaccines? Did a technician hold your pet while you checked out and offered to carry them to your car for you? Was the receptionist pleasant?
I am not saying we did all these things, I am saying this is just some of what we are trained to do. I have a great staff and they are trained to do everything they are qualified to do so I can do on the doctor tasks.
Most people don't realize how expensive it is to run a Veterinary hospital. I can charge higher prices, I can sell you products you don't need, and I can run unnecessary test. Instead, I try to keep my cost as low as possible by seeing more patients. I believe in the quality time not the quantity time.
Once again, I fell short with you so I do hope you give me and my hospital another chance to demonstrate to you why we are busy and why our clients keep coming back.
Pros: I agree, it is service
Cons: I need a bigger facility with more doctors
