Ray's The Steaks

I went 2 this place with 3 friends. A server came 2 the table & said "what would you like?" When it was my turn I ordered a steak well done, no pink center (I know most people don't like steak like this, but I do, and if I'm paying for it, then that's how I would like it cooked). The server said it may be a little pink. I replied, if it is going to be pink, just please give me a Caesar salad, & I will be fine. The server said I will make sure it comes out right. The food comes out, friend 1 ordered filet med & it comes out very rare, friend 2 ordered filet med & it comes out med-rare, friend 3 ordered steak medium well, & it came out very well done, even more cooked than my steak, which came out med. I stopped a server & asked for my original Caesar salad & sent the pink steak back. A manager came & said I heard you didn't like your steak. I said that I was fine, I jforewarned the server that I'd just like a salad if it couldn't be cooked well enough. One of my friend's explained that we weren't offered any drinks as well. She offered them to us, & we declined because our food was already there. She also said she would let the server know. A different person served the food, filled waters, & cleared plates. My guest asked the person who came to take a plate who we should tip, because it's been all different people & the server only took the order and asked about 1 steak. A boorish man stepped over & said he was the owner & was sitting at the table next to us so he could hear our complaints, spying & doing nothing to remedy a snowballing bad experience. I tried to explain calmly how I simply wanted a salad if my steak wasn't going to be cooked correctly, & he interrupted me & wouldn't even listen to anything we were saying. He blurted out, "You ordered the cheapest steak on the menu & we can't guarantee no pink center."He's making this a scene & said we complain 2 much & he will comp our meal if we just just leave! I lost it, I have never had that kind of service! I said a few expletives & he told us 2 leave more

This place is wonderful. Unfortunately it has become very popular. It has become very difficult to get a table at this place on a busy night of the week. The seating is very limited and the food is very good. That is a bad combination if you want a seat here. Everything is wonderful. They have the best steaks in the area. more

This place has one of the toughest reservations in town and it's easy to see why: They only have about a dozen tables and they serve the tastiest steaks just about anywhere. They age the beef and hand trim it on the premises. They do wonders with lesser-known cuts of beef and the classics shine like nowhere else. Forget the a la carte business that the chain steakhouses push on you; all of Ray's steaks come with delicious creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Try the scallops and key lime pie, too. more
