Editorial review from Citysearch 4/11/2013

Dr. Gizzie is great, she is so nice and helpful. I did have a not so lovely experience here with another md after being referred to her by a friend, but the next year I switched to Gizzie and it made up for the previous time! The lady at the desk is so helpful and polite as well, I would definitely recommend this place! more

Excellent Practitioner 7/21/2011

An absolutely excellent practice. I have used Associate's In Women's Healthcare for years. I hate doctors. I hate medicine. I have navigated the maze and complexity of the halls of medicine for many years and I dislike the profession with a vengeance. I won't put up with difficult physicians. Keep that in mind when reading my review, I have little patience for difficult doctors and have no problem telling them such and changing physicians. Yet I have had Associate's In Women's Healthcare as my OBGYN practice since they first opened many many years ago. i.e. I am impressed by them. All four of my children have been delivered by this practice (both simple and not simple). That I have used them for so long - and trusted them repeatedly with my children's lives - should say a lot about how highly I regard their skill and expertise in this area. I have found the doctors knowledgeable, compassionate and very good at what they do. I have had surgery with Dr. Mohr, Dr. Gizzie and Dr. Moody and all were excellent and explained everything. I wish all physicians were such. I have used this practice for years - it is by far the best I have used - and I will recommend it to my girls when they are in need of such. more

Go someplace else if you can! 8/27/2009

I have to STRONGLY agree with the previous review. \r \r I unfortunately had to switch doctors (from a doctor that I loved) in my 19th week of pregnancy. At around my 24 or 25 week appointment I had the exact same experience! The only difference is that I saw Dr. Mohr. At the time, I had gained a whole 17 pounds. Being six feet tall, I did not see the problem. I was so shocked by her attitude I didn't even know how to respond. At my next visit I had to see her again, and AGAIN she rudely commented on my weight gain. It was like ""You don't want to be a fat pregnant woman with a fat baby, do you?"" INSULTING. No woman should have to put up with that, I don't care what the cirumstances are.\r \r Being so far along, I did not want to have to switch again so I'm sticking it out. Miserable or not. I know they are definitely able to deliver my baby safe and sound and I guess in the end that's what matters. I just know that I will NOT be using them again for any thing in the future.\r \r I cannot however, say enough nice things about Dr. Chawla. She so far has been the only doctor with any kind of beside manner and I would be happy to see her face walk through the door on the day I deliver. Pros: Very nice nursing staff and upfront about billing and cost. Cons: Terrible bedside manner! more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dr. Moody and the folks at Associates in Women's Health 1/23/2009

I'm typically not one to write reviews of services provided however, after reading the reviews on CitySearch of Associates in Women's Health, I knew I had to write of my experiences with Dr. Moody and the other fine folks at this practice. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Moody for multiple visits last Spring that led up to surgery. I would think most women would agree that it's no walk in the park when visiting the OB/GYN. Come on...naked, feet in stirrups, need I say more? Anyway, especially considering these conditions, I've always felt quite comfortable and very well cared for with Associates. My visits included exams, bloodwork and biopsies...none of which I enjoyed, but the compassion was very obvious. Dr. Moody took the time to explain my options and educate me so that I could make a decision that I would be comfortable with long-term. I had a complete hysterectomy in June of 2008 and could not have asked for my experience to have gone any better than it did. I recently had my 6 month post-op visit and all is well. Again, Dr. Moody demonstrated compassion and genuine concern. \r \r When my daughter tried to schedule a check up with Dr. Moody over her Christmas break from college, Dr. Moody's schedule did not allow her to see my daughter. My daughter saw another doctor in the same practice and was equally satisfied. \r \r From Karen at the front desk, to the nurses, to the various doctors in this practice, I have been extremely pleased and will be a long-term patient. Thank you, Dr. Moody, for all that you've done for me! Pros: Dr. Moody, comfort of waiting rooms, nurses are great, Karen at the front desk is wonderful!! more

Look elsewhere 1/12/2009

When the very basic of basics can't be handled by office staff, it doesn't exactly make a patient feel comfortable with the doctors. I'm not talking anything too terribly complicated either. Just basic, run of the mill, office type stuff.\r Pros: let me think Cons: office staff more

Uncaring environment, incompetent office staff and nurses 10/23/2008

Thought I was ten weeks pregnant with my first baby when we had our first ultrasound with Associates in Womens Health. After that first ultrasound, we learned that the baby was actually only 6 weeks, and that it was possible it had stopped growing. Instead of performing additional tests, the doctor adopted a ""wait and see"" attitude. I learned two months post miscarriage that there WERE tests they could have done to determine if a m/c was inevitable. I started spotting dark brown on a Sun, but didn't call the office because that can sometimes be normal. I spotted bright red on Mon, and DID call, but was given the brush off, saying that that can sometimes be normal too. Tues, I passed a clot, called the office and was told to come in to the office the next AM. I was given no information about what may be happening to me, and wasn't even told if it could be the beginnings of a m/c. Later Tues. night, I began cramping and called the office again. FOUR hours later, I received a phone call from the doctor, who, the nurse told me, had ""been in surgery"". In the office the next AM, I actively starting miscarrying. Two nurses were sympathetic, but doctor was cold and clinical. Went in for regular bloodwork post-m/c to monitor hormone levels, but never saw doctor until *I* made an appointment about a month after the m/c. Doctor told me they usually don't schedule a follow up until after the hormone levels were 0, and mine took ""longer than usual"". I've since asked other women who have m/c, & learned that I did NOT take longer than normal. Also, the office staff doesn't know what else is going on in the office. Right after the 2nd follow up, I received a call from a nurse to schedule a m/c followup, the one I had already had two weeks prior. Also, two weeks post-m/c, I experienced some strange symptoms, called the office, and was told that sometimes pregnant women experience those symptoms. I had to explain, to my own Dr's office, that I had m/c.Stay away from this office. Pros: Nice receptionist, two caring nurses (out of many), phlebotomist is excellent. Cons: Uncaring doctors who don't give you all the facts, incompetent office staff and nurses. more

Avoid this practice! 8/4/2008

I chose this practice because I worked with some of these doctors at the time I became pregnant. I went to them because they were all women. Do not make the mistake thinking women OB's are going to be more compassionate with you while you are pregnant or having a baby! Quite the contrary...they take the attitude as ""shut up, I've been there, done that...get over it"". They didn't even treat me any more professional taking into account that I knew them! When I was about 6 weeks pg, and was so sick and before I had my ""official"" appt, they would not give me anything for nausea/vomitting, knowing that I ended up hospitalized with my 1st pregnancy for dehydration. The other OB group I worked with wrote me Rx's to help me until my appt with Associates. It became worse for me as I developed severe pain/could not sleep due to pain with a couple months to go in my pg...Not one doctor would take me seriously!! ""oh, take some Tylenol and Benadryl""...I HAD been doing that with no relief! Dr. Moody was so condescending. AT about 36 weeks, I was getting ready to change to a different practice b/c they would not listen to me as a patient...it's like they want to ""cookie cut"" every pregnancy and once again...""get over it...it can't be that bad"". Some of the nursing staff was rude as well. When I spoke with one of the other docs on call one evening and said I was changing practices at 8 months, she finally listened and made me comfortable and was simpathetic. After that, it was ok...but it's a shame it took 8 months to get the care I should have been getting all along. My first pg, I went to a group of men and they'd do anything in the world for you...it was their goal to make your pg a great and memorable experience...afterall, they do get paid good money. \r \r Now, as I'm looking around for a possible 3rd pregnancy...I am not sure who to go to. I'm looking at all the reviews now! Pros: nice office, short wait Cons: non-compassionate, condescending attitudes, some docs grumpy, not about serving you more

There are too many doctors in the Triangle to put up with this 3/23/2008

Absolutely terrible experience. Doctors lacked any bedside manner; questions were dismissed without much discussion. \r \r Received a lecture about gaining too much weight (I was checking in at a ""whopping"" 130 pounds during week 24 of my pregnancy). When I told the doctor that I was eating healthfully and still exercising and wasn't overly concerned about my weight gain, she responded ""Well, you will be when you have to have a C-section to get that baby out."" She then told me that she wanted my child to be no bigger than six pounds at birth.\r \r I immediately moved to another practice and am so thankful that I did - my new doctors were wonderful, much more caring and involved, and I was able to deliver my beautiful daughter without any complications (despite gaining more than 24 pounds during my pregnancy, and despite the fact that she weighed more than 6 pounds). I can't imagine what it would have been like to have one of these doctors in the delivery room! There are great OB/GYNs out there, but they're not at Associates in Women's Health.\r Pros: Very friendly receptionist Cons: Everything else more

Practice WAY too big for personal attention...and a general lack of bedside manners 3/18/2008

When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I looked at website reviews, such as this one, in selecting which practice I would go with. Thinking it would be great to have a practice with 5 women, most of whom would have experienced childbirth themselves, I switched from my male GYN and picked Associates. As long as my pregnancy was trouble-free, I was ambivalent about the care I was receiving-we certainly never had the warm fuzzies about anyone there, but no major complaints besides feeling ""processed through"" at each visit. \r \r However, once I ran into major problems at 27-weeks and ended up in the hospital, I realized I was at a practice that was WAY too big for personal attention and all-too-easy to get lost in the shuffle. Doctors make you feel rushed for the most part, several are just plain gruff & grouchy, and even after having been there my entire pregnancy, a good stretch of which for weekly visits or even more often, I had to explain my situation again nearly every time to techs and DOCTORS alike-which was ridiculous, frustrating, and time-consuming. At each visit, I felt ""processed through""-and several problems were uncovered due to my insistence at testing rather than doctors being proactive. After my baby was born, I ended up back in the hospital for a week with a raging infection and stroke-level vitals, no bedside manner and care at my illness and having to be away from my newborn, severing feeding establishment, etc. At my 6-week check-up, no ""how are you feeling"", or, more importantly ""how is your baby"", just ""here's your birth control - bye"" -UGH. They make too much money off each patient to act like that.\r \r I have two friends who tried them as well-one left for another practice following several visits where she and her husband were made to feel her questions and concerns were ignored, and one who, like me, is too far along to switch practices at this point - but like me, will not be going back to them again for baby #2. Pros: Receptionist always very kind and thoughtful; several good nurses Cons: There is no greater miracle than bringing a baby into this world - this practice has THOROUGHLY forgotten that more

Best OB All Around! 12/11/2007

I first discovered Associates in Women's healthcare when I was 7 1/2 mos pregnant with my first child. I was extremely unhappy with my then current ob and was referred to them by a friend. It was the best decision I could have made! I have had two children with this practice and are looking forward to having more with them. I really feel that they listen and take me seriously as a woman and mother. I recommend them to everyone that asks me, and sometimes when I'm not asked!\r \r Pros: Everything else! Cons: Now associated with Rex - Used to be Raleigh Community more

not up on the latest medical treatments 8/18/2006

Linda Mohr prescribed me birth control pills for menstal pain even though I was 44 years old at the time and I have a problem with my heart and have suffered with migraines headaches all of my life. I reminded Dr.Mohr of these condistions but she was of the option that because I was not over weight and I did not smoke I would be fine. I suffered a stroke within 3 months of taken the birth control pills. \r I do not recommend a doctor that doesnot look at all the patiences medical past before prescribing a deadly pill. Cons: bad medical practice more
