Editorial review from Citysearch 8/7/2014

I am someone who shops around and spends time reading reviews before I spend my hard earned cash. The other reviews were promising enough that I sent my business to them, but my experience today was not a good one and cost me much more than what I was quoted. I had an alternator that went out and so I started calling around for prices. The part with a core exchange was about $150, but I was too busy to deal with the hassle of fixing it myself and so I called around to a couple of mechanics to have it fixed. When I called Randy to give me an estimate for parts and labor, he gave me a quote that was about $120 more than just buying the part. No problem, I thought, It was worth the extra money just to have it taken care of. I dropped it off and my wife called this morning to find out it was $420 instead of $270 to fix. Really? Oh, and the work was done. I was clearly upset and called them, but no one answered and I got the answering machine. When I went in, they said it must have been a misunderstanding and that the $270 was parts only. I told them that was twice the amount from NAPA. ""Oh, we don't use NAPA auto parts. We don't want you to have problems in a couple of years."" So they make the decision to buy the most expensive parts out there for the car that has 160K miles? Where is the conversation that a mechanic has with an owner telling him that there are less expensive options available? I asked them that if it included the credit for the core. Without even looking they told me that it did. ""Can I see your receipt then?"" They couldn't find it (it must have been a couple of hours ago that they got the paperwork, but the desk was filled with so many papers that they were either lying or can't keep paperwork strait for more than 30 min). I was told that I would have to talk with someone else about that, and by the way they were not there. At the end of the day, I paid and left I thought that I was finding someone good to then find out that they lack terribly on communication, organization, and just plain professionalism. I would not recommend them. I give them two stars instead of one because their labor rates were at least reasonable. more

Fast service before my trip 7/15/2010

They were very fast, convenient and reasonably priced for my muffler replacement. Had a small parking lot, but was no problem.. Pros: Was extremely fast and affordable Cons: Small parking more

Great place, Great Prices 4/12/2010

I am not an easy to satisfy customer & I have owned several cars in my day and experienced quite a few different auto repair shops, from the big chains to the mom and pops. Randy's runs with the efficiency of a big chain center with prices and service of a mom and pop. We have our Mercedes, two of them and our Jeep all serviced there and they have saved me a fortune in costs and another fortune in time. If you need your car registered, repaired or serviced, you cant go wrong at Randy's. Ask for Shayne or Randy, both of them are very, very knowledgeable and Friendly. Terry C Pros: Customer Sevice, Prices, Quick in and out Cons: They don't have a shop closer to me more

broke my vehicle 10/29/2009

i took my classic truck in to get inspected, they didn't want to pass it because it didn't have a horn, understandable. i had them put a horn on it, they passed it. i picked it up, and everything seemed fine, til it rained the next day. they broke my windsheild wiper switch, and it is impossible to find! not only did they brake it, they broke it, dissassembled it, and decided it couldn't be fixed and left it in peices behind the dash. the part cannot be located the truck is too old, and it was working fine before. however they didn't try to pull a 'your wipers don't work either' and they passed them Pros: local, small business Cons: broke my vehicle more

Avoid at all costs!! 6/1/2009

If you have one too many vehicles, then take it to Randy's, and they will lose it for you. Ours was stolen off their lot. They left the keys in the ignition and doors unlocked all night! Then as we tried to get the vehicle back, they treated my wife and I like garbage. You would think they would be contrite after such a screw up, but they were awful to deal with. All this after I've been taking my vehicles there for 10 years. They lost my business forever... Luckily, the police found our vehicle, but then I tried to get a discount from Randy's for the ""services"" they had provided, they pulled an attitude and fought me tooth and nail! DO NOT GO HERE! Mistakes happen, I understand, but for them to pull an attitude after they made a HUGE mistake is unacceptable. They only gave me $15.00 discount after three weeks of hassle. Avoid them at all costs! Cons: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! more
